Age Issue Is Neutralized: Competence And Decency Will Decide Election In November!

For the next nine months, we will hear constantly that Joe Biden is too old and feeble to be President for another four years.

This is really a non-issue as his opponent, Donald Trump would be in his 80s during the next four years, so the age issue is really neutralized.

If Biden was facing a much younger Republican opponent, then age would be an issue, but if that was happening, even Biden has said he would not be running, and is doing so only to stop the threat of Donald Trump returning to the White House.

Joe Biden was driven to run in 2020 due to the horrible reality of Donald Trump, thinking he was the only potential opponent who could defeat Trump, which he did handily by more than 7.1 million votes, a massive victory.

Biden’s competence, decency, and record in office have been so noticeable, that despite horrible attacks from MAGA Republicans and Donald Trump, and despite polls that are so often inaccurate so far out from an election, the odds of his reelection are very likely.

Biden has presided over an economy that is outstanding; has the respect and support of NATO leaders who fear Donald Trump; and has the vision that would move America and its relationship with the world forward.

Fear that he might not finish a second term is also the issue of Donald Trump, since arguably, Trump is in far worse physical and cognitive shape than is Joe Biden.

So the Vice Presidency is crucial, and while many would be not happy at the thought of Kamala Harris, when considers the likely alternative list being bandied about of possible Trump Vice Presidential running mates, there is no comparison!

Would Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elise Stefanik, Kari Lake, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kristi Noem, Vivik Ramaswamy, Tim Scott or other sycophants be better than Kamala Harris?

Only in the delustional minds of MAGA Republicans, who care not a whit about American democracy, the rule of law, and the Constitution!

Three Former Republican Governors Invoke 14th Amendment Section Three As Disqualifying Donald Trump For Presidency!

Three former Republican Governors have invoked the 14th Amendment Section Three as disqualifying Donald Trump from running for the Presidency, due to Trump’s promotion of the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection.

Former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld, and former Montana Governor Marc Racicot (who also was a former Republican National Committee Chairman), have joined a legal brief stating Donald Trump is ineligible to run.

The nation is waiting to see if the Supreme Court will agree, but there is fear that the six Republican appointments, including the three chosen by Donald Trump, will refuse to do the right thing and save the nation from the nightmare of this Fascist oriented dictatorial monster, who has no regard for the rule of law!

Reagan Appointed Federal Judge Denounces Republican Deniers Of January 6 Insurrection

Reagan appointed federal Judge Royce C. Lamberth of the Federal District Court in Washington, DC, has denounced Republican deniers of the events and participants in the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection.

Appointed by Ronald Reagan in 1987, Lamberth was reacting to statements by Donald Trump and New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik that the arrested and convicted participants in the horrendous events of that day were “hostages”; Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene who called them “political prisoners” for their beliefs; and Georgia Congressman Andrew Clyde who said that the participants of that day had been involved in an “orderly normal tourist visit”.

Lamberth, a true and respected conservative, is working to insure that Americans do not accept the outrageous denial of truth being exploited by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans, undermining American democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law.

Nikki Haley Is Not A Panacea For Republicans Or The Nation At Large!

Former South Carolina Governor and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is NOT a panacea for Republicans or the nation at large.

She certainly is qualified for the Presidency, and is ahead of Joe Biden in some public opinion polls, but she has demonstrated a lack of courage in refusing to condemn Donald Trump, and many obervers believe she is angling to be his Vice Presidential running mate.

Her refusal to understand the role of slavery and racism in the American past, and her suggestion that she would pardon Donald Trump after a conviction destroy any sense of respect that she has had in the past.

She is the only true “survivor” of the disastrous Republican Party of 2024, but it is clear that she has no real chance of getting past Donald Trump, and is still unwilling to challenge a man who professes to want to be a dictator, and destroy the Constitution and rule of law!

“No Labels” Movement A Farce, Cannot Win Presidency, But Could Help Donald Trump!

The “No Labels” movement, which is attempting to offer an alternative choice for the Presidency by gaining access to the state ballot in all 50 states, is clearly a farce in every way imaginable!

There is ZERO chance of any candidate on that line winning the Presidency, but it could help elect Donald Trump, who is a threat to the continuation of the Constitution, rule of law, and democracy.

A key backer of this lunatic movement is former Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, who was the Vice Presidential nominee with Al Gore in the Presidential Election of 2000.

In his opening salvo of the Presidential Election campaign of 2024, President Joe Biden yesterday, precisely ten months before Election Day, delivered a stirring speech on the campaign to protect American democracy, which includes a massive defeat of Donald Trump, who is promoting the destruction of the Constitution and rule of law!

In his 30 minute speech at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, Biden spoke with real passion and commitment, and reminded us how George Washington turned down the possibility of becoming a monarch after the American Revolution, and accepted the idea of serving as President, and then leaving office.

In a year with so many politically difficult moments, certain situations stand out as bright moments.

Liz Cheney, the former Republican Congresswoman from Wyoming, stayed strong and continued to fight against the cancer represented by Donald Trump, holding to the traditions and beliefs of a Republican Party that once believed in principle, but no longer exists, ready to sell its soul to a charlatan who is destroying its history and traditions.

Adam Kinzinger, the former Republican Congressman from Illinois, has also, like Cheney, been a Profile in Courage, who has refused to bend to the intolerance and authoritarian nature of a party which has left him, and Cheney, rather than the other way around.

Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York has proved to be an exceptional potential Speaker of the House in 2025, as he has kept the Democratic minority united and strong against the degradation of the small majority Republicans in the House of Representatives. His leadership contrasts with the disgraceful, extremist oriented leadership of Kevin McCarthy, but even more so, Mike Johnson, a true religious extremist and moral hypocrite, who is sadly only two heartbeats away from the Presidency in his role as Speaker of the House.

President Joe Biden has shown great principle, courage, and decisiveness in a multitude of domestic and foreign crises, too often underrated and unappreciated for his strong stand for basic principles, including promotion of democracy, common decency, empathy, compassion, and the rule of law. He is presiding over the greatest crisis to our Constitution since the Civil War, but something that will only be fully understood in the future.

And finally, above all else, the survival of American Democracy itself, with the support of Democrats, courageous Republicans, the courts, the responsible news media, and decent citizens who value our heritage of nearly 250 years of constitutional government, is the ultimate “HERO” in this nation!

Resistance to authoritarian Fascism in all its forms is a constant, long term battle, and the final defeat, conviction, and imprisonment of the evil Donald Trump is the battle ahead, and with the understanding, that MAGA Trumpism will continue to be a threat, that all decent people will need to continue to resist beyond the time of Donald Trump!

Momentous Time For Supreme Court With Colorado Court Banning Of Trump On 2024 Election Primary Ballot!

The moment has arrived for the US Supreme Court to face a tough decision that will affect the Presidential Election of 2024.

Should they uphold the Colorado Supreme Court and agree to the banning of Donald Trump from the 2024 Primary Ballot, due to his involvement in setting up and inciting the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection?

The Colorado Court’s decision is based on the 14th Amendment Section 3, added to the Constitution after the Civil War, and seemingly appropriate to this blogger to be employed in this present situation!

If they do, that would open up other states also employing the same strategy through lawsuits to the state Supreme Courts.

Respected conservative experts agree that this is proper, including J. Michael Luttig, a retired Appeals Court Judge, who is highly regarded, and conservative attorney George Conway!

That would, effectively, undermine, and likely prevent Donald Trump from being able to win the Presidency, and effectively saving American democracy from the threat he represents to the Constitution and rule of law!

There is no way to forecast the result, but it could be a case as significant as US V Nixon in 1974, which led to the resignation of Richard Nixon from the Presidency!

A gut feeling that the Supreme Court will vote 7-2 to uphold the action of the Colorado Supreme Court, with Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito in dissent, but with all three Trump appointees showing principle, guts, and courage, as three such Justices appointed by Richard Nixon did so in July 1974!

Donald Trump Escalates Hate And Racism, And Republicans Remain Silent!

Former President Donald Trump, the leading Republican nominee for President, continues to escalate hate and racism in his campaign rallies, and Republicans remain silent!

Trump spews forth Hitler propaganda, and expresses great admiration of Vladimir Putin, making clear his threat to upend American foreign policy of support of NATO, and Ukraine’s war with Russia!

Trump talks of massive deportations and hostility toward immigration; building a Mexico wall to prevent migration from Latin America; and resisting any struggle against Climate Change.

Trump is a one man wrecking crew in so many ways, and Republicans, including those trying to overcome him for the Presidential nomination, refuse to condemn him openly.

Trump has become a constitutional crisis leading a Fascist oriented party, who is declaring war on American democracy and the rule of law!

The End Of A Possible President Mike Pence!

Ever since Mike Pence became Vice President on January 20, 2017, the possibility of his accession to the Presidency remained a looming possibility.

The unstable and negative behavior of Donald Trump made this blogger and author think Pence might succeed to the Presidency rapidly in the early months of the term.

The constant crises and two Trump impeachments also put Pence in line for the Presidency, under the 25th Amendment, or the forced removal or resignation of Donald Trump.

Mike Pence stood for the rule of law in his refusal to help Trump steal the Presidential Election of 2020 on January 6, 2021, and could have lost his life that day if the circumstances and threats of that dark day had turned out differently.

Pence stood for the Constitution, and that will be his historic significance.

But he also was too much willing to bend to Donald Trump otherwise, even though Trump was as different in a moral and ethical sense as anyone could be from the highly religious Mike Pence.

Pence had no chance to become President for the next election, and has decided to leave the race, and he will have little impact on the future of a party which has, in so many ways, abandoned its principles. The Republicans have gravitated toward a total political disaster by following in the lead of the disgraced, twice impeached, four times indicted, and totally immoral and unethical former President Donald Trump.

So Pence will be seen as part of a Republican Party that is now in the distant past, as the so called Reagan wing of the party’s history goes into the distance as a lost memory!
