Joe Biden Needs To Be Harry Truman, And Give Trump And Republicans “Hell”, As Truman Did In 1948!

President Joe Biden is now starting to mention and to attack the threat Donald Trump represents, as he travels to different events and activities.

For a man 81 years of age, Biden certainly has demonstrated energy, but he had always tried to avoid mentioning Trump directly, calling him for a long time “that other guy”!

No more, as clearly the campaign has begun for the Presidential Election of 2024, and with the almost certain likelihood that Trump will be the Republican nominee, no matter what happens in his four trials next year on 91 counts of indictments.

Biden has always been underrated, much like Harry Truman, but Truman became famous as “Give Them Hell Harry” in the Presidential Election campaign of 1948, when he faced the much younger NY Governor Thomas E. Dewey, and a split in his own party with Henry A. Wallace and Strom Thurmond.

It was thought he had no chance to win, but he proved otherwise, in the biggest election upset in American history.

So Biden is now picking up the Truman idea, and will run with it, and being underestimated can be a plus, as proved 75 years ago!

Goodbye And Good Riddance To Kevin McCarthy!

Former briefly Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is quitting Congress at the end of this year, not fulfilling the commitment to finish his 9th term in the lower chamber.

This is not surprising, as Kevin McCarthy has spent his House career seeking power, and being aggressive and nasty toward critics in both parties.

His Speakership was brief and disastrous, and he leaves with a chip on his shoulder, and planning to work to defeat his Republican critics.

His 17 years in the House showed no principle, no decency, no concern about those in his California district or nationally, who had difficult lives.

He was an example of the worst elements of selfishness and greed imaginable, and will not be missed!

His leaving, and the expulsion of George Santos, leaves only a two seat margin for the Republicans, so the party could, in theory, lose their majority sometime in 2024 before the next elections!

82nd Anniversary Of Pearl Harbor Attack: Never To Forget!

Today, December 7, is the 82nd Anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, which brought America into World War II.

There are still alive some veterans of that dastardly attack on a Sunday morning, which woke up America to the threats and the dangers from overseas, and proved that having two “great oceans” did not mean we were protected without a strong defense!

The attack woke up America, which again needs to be woken up, due to the opposition that exists to the US aiding Ukraine in its war against its Russian invader.

Just as the isolationists of the 1930s were wrong, so are the isolationists of the present, who live with their heads in the sand, thinking a Russian seizure of all of Ukraine is no threat to the rest of Europe, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The battle over Ukraine aid now raging on Capitol Hill is a reminder how many Americans do not learn from history!

Abortion Rights And Attack On ObamaCare By Trump Helps Democrats

Donald Trump bragging about the end of abortion rights, and his renewed attack on the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) are two issues that seem likely to insure that the Democrats and Joe Biden will have issues that will resonate with voters in the Presidential Election Of 2024.

About 40 million people benefit from ObamaCare and Medicaid expansion coverage available due to the Affordable Care Act.

Abortion being legal and available has been supported in Kansas, Vermont, Montana, Michigan, Kentucky, California and Ohio since the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, and has galvanized those who believe in women’s rights and civil rights.

Speaker Of The House Mike Johnson Disqualified For Wanting To Cover Up January 6 Crimes!

The new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has just disqualified himself for that position, and should be summarily removed, after his announcement that he wants to cover up the crimes of January 6, 2021 by blurring faces on the videos!

Fortunately, the House January 6 Committee had the videos with the faces evident, but the idea of trying to prevent prosecution of individuals who committed crimes, and attacked police, and caused deaths and injuries, is beyond the pale!

Johnson is a disgrace, and should resign, and the small number of moderate Republicans should move to disqualify him, and force a new Speakership race!

This man is worse than any previous Republican Speaker, and possibly, the worst ever Speaker, and yet he professes to be a “good Christian”, but willing to cover up crimes against the US Capitol!

The Horrible Potential Candidates For Trump Vice Presidential Choice!

Speculation has begun for potential Vice Presidential running mates for Donald Trump, if he goes on to be the Republican Presidential nominee in 2024.

The emphasis is on race and gender, which is odd for Republicans who wish to deemphasize such factors, but a list has been drawn up that has individuals who would be, despite their race or gender, horrendous, and a danger to the nation if any of them were a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

They include:

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem
South Carolina Senator Tim Scott
New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders
Florida Congressman Byron Donalds
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy
Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene

Also mentioned are former South Carolina Governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, who is fast becoming the major alternative to Trump; and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Those two and Kristi Noem and Tim Scott are the “best’ of a horrible lot, with the other five truly nightmare choices!

Trump has degraded the Presidency, and now seems likely to be ready to degrade the office of the Vice Presidency!

Donald Trump’s Threat To Utilize The Insurrection Act Of 1792 To Establish A Military Dictatorship

Hard to believe, but a law passed under George Washington in 1792 to promote a stable American Republic could destroy the Republic under a demagogue such as Donald Trump 233 years later in 2025 if Trump is able to regain the Presidency a year from now!

The purpose of the law was to overcome internal rebellion, best exemplified by the Whiskey Rebellion in Pennsylvania in 1794, but also used by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War; by Presidents Rutherford B. Hayes and Grover Cleveland in labor disputes; by Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy to promote Southern integration of schools during the Civil Rights Era ; and by President George H. W. Bush during the Los Angeles riots in 1992.

It is NOT designed to crack down on legal, constitutional right of dissent, including marches, demonstrations, and other displays of nonviolent action, but Trump has stated he would promote mass arrests and deportations upon taking the oath of office on January 20, 2025!

Something must be done to prevent such an outrageous movement toward Fascism, and the destruction of the Bill of Rights, and the first step would be to insure that Donald Trump never gets near the Oval Office again!

George Santos Becomes 6th House Member In History To Be Expelled!

In a surprise, nearly half of the Republican Caucus in the House of Representatives joined with Democrats to expel George Santos of New York, only the 6th case in American history, and without a conviction in a criminal case as of yet.

No defense of Santos, who was a disgrace from Day One, but one wonders if this opens up the idea of future expulsions without legal convictions as a factor.

In any case, it makes the Republican majority in the House of Representatives one less than before, and with a strong likelihood of the Democrats picking up what had been a Democratic seat before the midterm Congressional elections of 2022!

The Newsom-DeSantis Confrontation Demonstrated American Division!

The Gavin Newsom-Ron DeSantis Fox News debate last night demonstrated American division, and a sense that America’s future is destined to be as nasty and insulting as the two men were toward each other throughout the debate hosted by Sean Hannity.

The idea that Sean Hannity would act “neutrally” as the moderator was clearly breached from the beginning, and under the circumstances, Gavin Newsom did quite well, and kept a smile and confident image.

DeSantis showed himself to be as obnoxious, cocky, and mean-spirited as he has shown himself to be all along in Florida politics, but certainly was more aggressive and on task than he has been in the three Republican Party Presidential debates so far.

It seems to this blogger and author that DeSantis will not benefit from his performance in the next Republican debate, while Newsom will remain a prime contender for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2028, but certainly will have multiple challengers for future leadership of the party!

Henry Kissinger, the most controversial diplomat since World War II, is dead at age 100!

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the end of the Vietnam War, he is seen by many as having been an international outlaw and criminal for his involvement in spreading the Vietnam War into Cambodia; his support and promotion of a right wing government in Chile, destroying that democracy for a generation; and his lack of concern about human rights and loss of freedom in so many places around the world besides Chile, including Argentina.

As National Security Adviser and then Secretary of State to President Richard Nixon, and later to President Gerald Ford, he engaged in many unethical, if not illegal, actions.

A believer in Realpolitik in international relations, he was seen as lacking ethics and morality to the extreme, and was noted for his egotism and lack of concern about his reputation.

He is noted for helping to open up relations with the People’s Republic of China, and his dealings with the Soviet Union, and the Middle East cauldron. He also is criticized for backing Pakistan in the Bangladesh-India War for Independence of what had been East Pakistan, undermining relations with the largest populated nation, India, beyond China, and also encouraging the corrupt Shah of Iran during the energy crisis!

Seen as a brilliant and yet to many an evil man, he clashed with many other diplomatic and political figures, and stood out as diametrically opposite to many, including President Jimmy Carter, who survived him and one hopes will reach age 100 in ten months!
