55 Years Of Earth Day And The Environmental Protection Agency!

On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was declared by Richard Nixon, although it was a number of Democratic Senators, including most notably Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, who pushed the idea, accepted and made official by the US government.

On April 22, 1994, the 25th Earth Day declaration, Richard Nixon passed away, now 30 years having passed since then.

Joe Biden has been very active in promoting environmental reform, and many environmental groups, including the Conservation Lands Foundation have hailed Biden as one of the best Presidents on the issue of the environment!

Much work has been done, but the environmental movement still faces threats from MAGA Republicans and Donald Trump, who if returned to the White House, would cut back on advancements that have occurred!

So the battle for the future of the environment still rages!

House Republican Majority Support Putin Over Ukraine!

It is now official: More than half of the House of Representatives Republicans support Vladimir Putin and Russia, as 112 of the party members voted against aid to Ukraine!

So the Republican Party is dominated now in the House of Representatives by MAGA Republicans, and are loyal to Donald Trump, who has no interest in preserving democracy, and is a threat to the survival of European democracies and NATO!

This trend has been obvious since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for President nine years ago, and cozied up to Russia at that time and since!

This needs to be emphasized by Democrats for the Presidential and Congressional Elections coming up in just over six months!

The Republican Party is a “clear and present danger” to American democracy, the US Constitution, and the rule of law, and must be fully exposed as what they are–traitors to America!

Abortion Rights Key Issue Of Presidential And Congressional Elections Of 2024!

The insane, lunatic action of the Arizona Supreme Court insures that abortion rights will be the key issue of the Presidential and Congressional Elections of 2024.

The Republican Party and Donald Trump, and the corrupt majority of the Supreme Court have made abortion the major issue of human rights, as more than half the population of the nation will not tolerate the loss of bodily control that every human being should have!

The insanity of an 1864 law in Arizona, when there were fewer than 10,000 people living in the territory that did not become a state until 1912, being utilized 160 years later, calls for a purge of the Arizona Supreme Court. They are, clearly, a bunch of corrupt, “bought” monsters, allowing religious extremists and right wing whackos that want to bring America back to the 19th century, to dictate the lives of American women!

Arizona joins Alabama and Florida in promoting extremism and authoritarianism, in line with the Fascism of Donald Trump and the horrendous Republican Party cult in Congress and the states!

Everyone with a brain and compassion needs to get out there and campaign for everyone they know to vote, and to make sure they meet their own citizen’s commitment to throw the “rascals” out, and insure that Donald Trump and his MAGA Republicans never egain get near political power!

Two Republican House Chairs Assert Many In Party Are Russian Apologists!

Michael McCaul, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; and Mike Turner, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee in the 118th Congress, have both asserted that many members of their Republican Party in the lower chamber are spouting Russian propaganda.

These MAGA Republicans are showing no concern about the struggle of Ukraine against the two year plus invasion of their nation by the Russian Federation.

It is also very clear that Donald Trump is a Russian stooge, only too willing to bend to Vladimir Putin.

The fact that Republican leaders with principle are telling us how many Republicans in Congress are collaborators with the authoritarian government of Russia against American national security and our NATO allies, needs to be emphasized to insure that the Republicans suffer massive defeats in November.

Once that has occurred, it is time for prosecution of Republican traitors who care not a whit about American democracy!

107th Anniversary Of World War I Declaration!

On this date, April 6, 1917, America entered World War I, after four days of debate of President Woodrow Wilson’s War Message.

America emerged from an isolationist stance, and finally rejected George Washington’s admonition in his Farewell Address in 1796, warning against “entangling alliances”.

Sadly in the 1920s, and more so in the 1930s, America returned to isolationism, until forced out of that stance by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Despite isolationist elements in the Republican Party after World War II, the US dealt with the Cold War with the Soviet Union by helping to form NATO, now 75 years of success in protecting America and its European allies.

But the battle against isolationism continues, as Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans threaten to end NATO engagement, and embrace authoritarian dictators, just as many of the isolationists in the 1930s embraced Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, and worked to keep America neutral as Fascism advanced.

The Presidential Election of 2024 is another battle between internationalists and isolationists, and it is a battle that must be fought for the national security of America and the promotion of democracy against authoritarian threats.

Martin Luther King Jr Anniversary Of Assassination, And Race Relations In America

It has been 56 years since the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in Memphis, Tennessee.

The nation has observed his January birthday as a national holiday since 1986, but sadly, racism, and white supremacy have not declined.

In fact, due to Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican followers, the Republican Party exudes racism, as well as nativism, misgoyny, and many strains of antisemitism.

The struggle of Republicans against DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) has harmed the nation, and the Supreme Court backtracking since 2013 on voting rights protection, presents a major challenge for the short and long term future of the struggle against the advancements of the civil rights movement in the 1960s and beyond.

The Democratic Party, as imperfect as it is, is still the best hope for the future in that regard.

Donald Trump Already Setting Up Another January 6 Crisis As He Claims The Presidential Election Will Be Fraudulent!

With seven and a half months to go, already Donald Trump is setting up another January 6 Crisis, as he claims the Presidential Election of 2024 results will be fraudulent, that the election will be “rigged” against him!

His reckless and demagogic behavior makes his statement about “bloodshed” a warning sign of troubles ahead.

Even if a small percentage of his loyal MAGA followers decide action must be taken, it insures violence and dangers to the stability of American government.

Trump has “true believers” who would be willing to provoke uprisings and violence, much like those who did so on January 6, 2021, putting Vice President Kamala Harris into the crossfire of personal danger and great responsibility in counting the Electoral College vote on January 6, 2025.

Ohio Goes MAGA On Senate Race–Bernie Moreno Vs Sherrod Brown!

The state of Ohio–the home of six American Presidents from 1869-1923, all Republicans–has gone MAGA in choosing the Republican nominee for the US Senate race against incumbent three term Democrat Sherrod Brown.

Bernie Moreno has become the Donald Trump endorsed candidate, with extremist views, against a mainstream Democrat, who has been very popular and effective in three terms in the US Senate.

Sherrod Brown should have an advantage in this race, as a more mainstream Republican, Matt Dolan, who had been endorsed by Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine and former Republican Senator Rob Portman, was unable to stop the more extremist Moreno from winning the Senate nomination.

Moreno has been extreme and inconsistent in his views on many issues, and has also gone from being a Trump critic to being a Trump sycophant.

Already, Moreno is calling Sherrod Brown a “Commie”, so one can see what a nasty campaign he will wage!

This Ohio Senate race is crucial for Democrats’ hopes of keeping a Senate majority, and it will be the most highly watched race over the next eight months!

Wisconsin And Michigan: Republican Party Beginnings And Ultimate Battleground In 2024 Presidential Election!

The Republican Party was founded in 1854, in the upper Midwest, with its founding on March 20 in Ripon, Wisconsin, and its first party convention held in Jackson, Michigan on July 6.

It was a reform oriented party, opposed to the expansion of slavery, and would dominate in the United States over the next seven decades until the rise of the Democratic Party, Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal in the midst of the Great Depression in the 1930s.

Interestingly, the Republican National Convention in July will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so in a sense a return to the roots of the party of 170 years of history.

However, the Republican Party of history basically can be seen as dead, gone, unlikely to be revived in a form reminiscent of the party’s history, as Donald Trump and his MAGA followers have totally destroyed the roots and the base of the historical Republican Party!

This is the ulimate battleground in the Presidential Election of 2024, as whether Donald Trump or Joe Biden wins the upper Midwest ultimately will determine who is elected to the Oval Office!

A Magnificent, Fiery, Combative Speech As Joe Biden Begins The Fight Against Donald Trump And Maga Republicans!

Last night’s State Of The Union Address by Joe Biden was a magnificant, fiery, combative speech as Joe Biden begins the fight against Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans!

Anyone watching who is objective must admit that Joe Biden did a “tour de force”, and showed vigor and energy for a man who is 81 years old!

Biden has demonstrated perfect capability and knowledge to lead our nation in a difficult national and international climate, but also to care about and promote what is good for the vast number of Americans, not just the wealthy!

It was unbelievable how Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, who did NOT do the usual introduction of the President, was constantly frowning and rolling his eyes, to the point that he looked totally ridiculous. Johnson refused to applaud on almost every issue, because he is the captive, as are 95 percent of Republicans in Congress, to the evil Donald Trump!

It was sad seeing conservative Republican Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma, a cosponsor of an immigration bill approved by the Chambers of Commerce and the Wall Street Journal, but rejected by House Republicans, mouthing his agreement with President Biden on the value of the proposed legislation.

It was disgraceful how Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene yelled and gestured in a disgusting manner, showing total lack of respect for the President.

The Republicans in the House chamber just sat on their hands, but knowing Joe Biden has become like Harry Truman in 1948, ready and willing to “Give Them Hell” over the next eight months!

Decency and compassion and vision and competence will ultimately win out over the evil and threat to the Constitution and rule of law represented by Donald Trump.

And anyone who chooses to vote for a third party, and most particularly the embarrassing and unstable Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, who is no match for his father or the family name, is undermining the struggle to sustain American democracy.

And if by some fluke, Trump wins and establishes a dictatorship, such voters will go to their graves knowing they contributed to the destruction of the American nation as we have known it!
