Two Months Before The Midterm Elections Of 2026, The Republican Race For The Presidential Nomination Is In Full Swing!

It is two months until the Midterm Elections Of 2026, but already, it can be said the battle for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2028 is in full swing.

It has been generally assumed that Vice President JD Vance is the clearcut frontrunner, but there are signs that Donald Trump might swing his support to someone else, and Trump’s ultimate endorsement could change the complexion of the race.

It seems that a number of potential candidates are already starting to appeal to Trump, while others seem ready to run even without Trump’s backing.

So considering the reality that Donald Trump is in clear mental decline, and is not in the best health, at any time, Vice President JD Vance could succeed to the Presidency.

If that happens anytime before the primaries in 2028 and the Republican National Convention, Vance would be the clear choice for the nomination.

But if fate keeps Trump in the White House, there are wide possibilities of a large number of potential Republican candidates besides Vance.

The list would include:

Secretary of State Marco Rubio
Secretary of Defense (War) Pete Hegseth
Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

It would seem all three would be vying for Trump to endorse them, but if they announced, they would have to leave the Cabinet.

Outside the Cabinet, the list would include:

Senator Ted Cruz of Teas
Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky
Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas
Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, who is leaving office in January
Former Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia
Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia, who is leaving office in January

Additionally, not in office are:

Donald Trump, Jr.
Tucker Carlson

So the number of potential contenders is, at this point, 13 in number.

Ohio Republicans A Disaster, Have Besmirched Ohio Historical Reputation!

The state of Ohio has a great history in many ways, including 8 Ohio Born Presidents, all Republicans, except for WH Harrison, who was a Whig.

Warren G. Harding

It must be said that none of these 8 Ohio Presidents have ranked high in history, and with Grant and Harding sadly presiding over massive corruption in their eras 50 years apart.

William McKinley is usually considered the highest ranking of these 8 Presidents, with William Howard Taft close behind, and with James A. Garfield, considered a tragic figure, as a potentially gifted President, assassinated after only six months in office in 1881.

Now, we have Vice President JD Vance, who was born in Ohio, and just celebrated his 42nd birthday two days ago, on August 2.

Considered likely to become President during this term, due to Donald Trump’s rapid mental decline and other age related issues, his reputation is not impressive, and if he is still Vice President by the time of the Presidential primaries, he might face strong challenges from other Republicans, most notably Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

But beyond this situation, we also have the scandalous situation involving Cleveland area Congressman Max Miller, involved in a divorce from the daughter of Senator Bernie Moreno, with all kinds of horrendous accusations of abuse and threats to his former wife and their 2 year old daughter.

Moreno is calling for Miller to resign from Congress, and get mental help for his horrendous behavior, which has included other accusations with other women and with law enforcement in the past, and the reaction has been fierce by both sides.

But also, Moreno himself showed lack of dignity by using foul language in the committee hearing that attacked Dr. Anthony Fauci for his handling of the COVID 19 Pandemic response, when Fauci was heroic in his actions and advice, having to navigate the lunacy and craziness of Donald Trump regarding that epidemic in 2020.

This, along with the candidacy of Tech Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as the Republican nominee for Governor, despite his controversial outspokenness and extremist views, puts the state of Ohio in the forefront of controversy that undermines the state’s reputation.

It is hoped that Democrat Amy Acton, a physician, public health leader, and nominee for Governor, can succeed in turning Ohio in a different direction, but Ohio has become very “RED”, after years of being a “swing state” historically.

Acton was seen as a “hero”, much like Dr. Anthony Fauci, in the early period of the COVID 19 Pandemic, but later faced vilification, much like the renowned Fauci, with both being totally correct in their reactions to the epidemic, but suffering from scientific ignorance by their critics.

The Thought Of A Potential President JD Vance Is Horrifying!

At a time when America has an unstable, authoritarian oriented President, who often gives evidence of dementia, we are cursed with a Vice President, JD Vance, who does not engender confidence.

Instead, we have a Vice President who has made multiple inaccurate statements, and has demonstrated a lack of being able to be genuine in his interactions with news media and the general public.

Vance has also been a total sycophant to Trump, after having years ago called Trump a “Hitler”.

Now, it has been revealed that Vance used a Marine One Helicopter to take his young son to a golf lesson, an outrageous abuse of government costs, when he could have been taken by automobile to the appointment.

Also, Vance had claimed, during the Presidential campaign of 2024, that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, were eating pets, an outrageous lie.

Also, Vance has made the odd statement about his “wife’s kids”, as if he is not the father, but meanwhile decided to pursue his wife having a fourth child, as part of the promotion of increasing childbearing among women in America.

Also, in a sign of lack of respect of the fact that his wife, Usha Vance, is of Hindu faith and her parents were immigrants from India, Vance has said publicly that he hopes his wife will become a “good Christian”, after his own weird changes from an Evangelical Christian to an atheist, and now a Catholic.

Vance has incessantly lied on a multitude of matters, and the thought that he might well become President in this term is a horror.

There have been other controversial Vice Presidents, but their competency level was higher, with even Vice President Dan Quayle under President George H. W. Bush, by comparison, seemingly less objectionable than Vance.

The thought that Vance is a heartbeat away from the Presidency, and that there is a reasonable expectation that he might become President during this term is quite disturbing.

By comparison, former Vice President Mike Pence, from the first term of Donald Trump, looks so much better, and the prospect of a Vance Presidency is something unwelcome by intelligent observers.

Alarming Ignorance And Stupidity Of JD Vance About Richard Nixon: A Danger Sign For A Potential Vance Presidency!

It is truly shocking how ignorant and purely stupid Vice President JD Vance is, despite his Ivy League education.

It makes one wonder about his basic knowledge and intelligence, when he makes light of Richard Nixon and the Watergate Scandal, and says it is a series of events that has been overdramatized, and was caused by what he terms “the deep state”.

Trying to sanitize Richard Nixon on the scandal that brought him down is simply an attempt to undermine and trivialize the massive scandals that have occurred under Donald Trump, both in the first term, and now his second term, which make Richard Nixon look, as a “choir boy” by comparison.

Richard Nixon had some real accomplishments in his Presidency, far more than Donald Trump, but his accountability for his scandals that caused his own Republican Party to turn against him a half century ago, sadly are not being repeated by the modern day Republican Party, which is totally sycophantic and submissive in a way that will condemn individual Cabinet Officers, and members of both houses of Congress in the long run of history.

It is very concerning that the possibility exists that JD Vance would NOT follow the same course on counting the electoral vote in the upcoming Presidential Election of 2028 that Mike Pence pursued on January 6, 2021. It endangered his life at the hands of the US Capitol Insurrectionists on that day, insurrectionists which have disgracefully been pardoned for their crimes, a massive abuse of the pardon power of the Presidency.

It should be seen as very worrisome also that one wonders whether JD Vance is aware that Richard Nixon in 1961; Hubert Humphrey in 1969; and Al Gore in 2001, all had to count and verify the votes of the Electoral College where they were the losing candidates in the recent presidential elections, and did so in a distinguished and appropriate manner.

It is also very concerning whether JD Vance is indeed qualified to be Commander in Chief with such lack of historical knowledge, truth, and understanding, as no responsible person should be trying to “whitewash” the Watergate Scandal, which assisted in strengthening American democracy and the rule of law.

Stephen Miller: The Single Most Dangerous Person Around Donald Trump, But JD Vance Also An “Alarm Bell”!

There are many “dangerous” people around Donald Trump, but clearly, Stephen Miller is the single, most dangerous person in the administration.

We have learned from NY Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, and coming out in a future book, what is not really surprising: that Stephen Miller advised Donald Trump in 2025-2026 to suspend the “Writ of Habeus Corpus” for undocumented immmigrants and invoking the Insurrection Act, particularly after the murders of Rene Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis in January 2026.

If Miller was totally in charge, America would have a total suspension of civil liberties, basically the establishment of a Fascist oriented government.

With two and a half years left of the Trump term, this threat is still very much imminent and terrifying.

The shock of Miller, a descendant of Jews who escaped Nazi Germany, repudiating his family members, who are totally in condemnation of his rhetoric and actions, is highly disturbing.

But also, to learn that Vice President JD Vance was supportive of Miller’s promotion of the suspension of the Writ of Habeus Corpus, and invocation of the Insurrection Act, was also shocking beyond belief, as it means the 50th Vice President is the most dangerous we have had in that office, more so than any earlier Vice President.

It is a sign of authoritarianism way beyond Donald Trump, as the likelihood of JD Vance taking over the Presidency during this term is growing, and is extremely alarming!

Are we going to lose the Bill of Rights, and have a corporate dominated Fascist government, influenced by corrupt, super wealthy technocrats?

Speculation On Long Shot Democratic Presidential Contenders For 2028

With speculation about the future Presidential Election of 2028 heating up, as we near the Midterm Congressional and Gubernatorial Elections of 2026, Reid J. Epstein of the NY Times published on May 13 an exhaustive list of potential contenders in both parties, totaling the “crazy” number of 62 individuals—30 Democrats and 32 Republicans.

This author and blogger thinks this massive list is “off the wall”, and that the vast number of these potential 62 contenders will never even announce a Presidential candidacy.

However,there are some who are intriguing on the Democratic Party side.

Newcomers who have to prove themselves by winning in November

James Talarico of Texas, Senate
Graham Platner of Maine, Senate
Rob Sand of Iowa, Governor

Democrats in office who would be fascinating candidates

Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Senator
Jon Ossoff of Georgia, Senator
Jason Crow of Colorado, House of Representatives

Realistically, of the above list, the only likely contenders who would announce for President would be Slotkin and Ossoff.

However, there is speculation that Talarico, who has really inspired and excited many about his prospects, could end up running for Vice President, as after all, Vice President JD Vance only had one and a half years in office as Ohio Senator, before being tapped for the Vice Presidency.

And also, Barack Obama announced for President only two years after winning his Illinois Senate seat, and became President after four years of service.

Marco Rubio Rises As JD Vance Falls In Image

This author and blogger has never been overly impressed or thrilled with former Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who is now Secretary of State and National Security Adviser for President Donald Trump.

But I have also said to my friends that Rubio is the “best” person surrounding Donald Trump in his second term, whether one agrees with everything he says or has done.

Rumors are spreading that Rubio may gain the backing of Trump to be his successor, which is a double edged sword, over Vice President JD Vance.

Of course, if Trump leaves office during this term, and his physical and mental health are questionable, Vance would become the 48th President.

But the fact that Rubio held a comparatively impressive press conference with the news media, and came across as rational and reasonable, something not seen in this second Trump Presidency, is going to fuel rumors about the future.

Rubio came across as more forthcoming and pleasant, unlike the hostility of other Trump Cabinet members, and President Trump, toward the press.

Regarding personality and public presence, Rubio wins out easily over the awkward, often unpleasant, stilted Vance.

Rubio is going off to see Pope Leo XIV and the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, after recent disputes between both leaders and Donald Trump, seen by many as “fence mending”.

In the world of Donald Trump, Marco Rubio seems to have risen in esteem, but of course, if Rubio gains too much positive reputation, it could also backfire.

There has been a sense that Rubio, who has been very quiet publicly until now, has been uncomfortable about many issues, at least if one observes and analyzes body language.

It will be interesting to see what occurs after Rubio has visited Italy later this week.

Dangerous To Have Presidential Succession Group In One Place Off Government Protected Buildings, As Occurred At Washington Hilton Hotel!

The horrifying incident of a gunman at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Correspondents Association Annual Dinner was more than just a threat to the President of the United States and the 2,500 guests, many of them journalists.

It also was the reality that MOST of the group under the 1947 Presidential Succession Act were also there, truly a dangerous and unacceptable scenario.

13 members of the Presidential succession were at the event, including Vice President JD Vance and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

But also almost all of the Cabinet Officers were present, leaving an alarming situation.

The only people under the Presidential Succession Act NOT present were:

President Pro Tempore of the Senate Chuck Grassley of Iowa, nearing age 93;

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins;

Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick;

The two “Acting” Secretaries–Attorney General Todd Blanche, and Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling were there, who some observers would say are not eligible to succeed to the Presidency, as they have not been selected yet as the successors in those posts, and have not been confirmed.

Also, it is unclear if Scott Turner, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Doug Collins, Secretary of Veterans Affairs were present at the event.

There was no formal “Designated Survivor” chosen before the event in case of a tragedy.

Never again can the federal government allow even the unlikely scenario that occurred on April 25 to happen again.

One Week Away, And So Much News Occurring!

This blogger, author, and scholar has been away in Philadelphia for the past week, first time since 2008, visiting all of the historic sites and museums in that city, and also enjoying the musical “1776”, at the Walnut Theater, the oldest theater in America, going back to 1809 (the year of Abraham Lincoln’s birth), so now celebrating its 217th year.

While on vacation, so much news occurred, as one can never escape from reality, so we saw, among other news events the following:

Exposure of the abuses perpetrated by California Democratic Congressman Eric Swallwell, a leading candidate for Governor, forcing his withdrawal from that race, and resignation from Congress, a totally stunning event.

The continued conflict between Donald Trump and Pope Leo XIV, including Trump being depicted as Jesus, or being blessed by Jesus, a true blasphemy of the true teachings of Christianity. It has alienated millions of American Catholics from Donald Trump.

The surprising overwhelming defeat of Hungarian right wing leader Viktor Orban in national elections, a real blow to the Fascist orientation of both Orban, and of Donald Trump and JD Vance, who campaigned to save him, and failed massively, undermining both Trump’s image, and the future of JD Vance.

Growing indications that with the Iran War continuing,

and with growing criticism of many of Donald Trump’s Cabinet members,

and with higher prices affecting tens of millions of Americans,

and also the clearcut enrichment of Trump and his family against the emoluments clause of the Constitution,

that Republicans are on the road to massive losses in the upcoming midterm elections of 2026.

Donald Trump’s Verbal Threat Against Iranian Civilization The Most Shocking Utterance Ever Of A President, And Requires Removal As A Threat To National And World Security!

Donald Trump’s verbal threat to destroy Iranian civilization, and send that nation back to the Stone Age, is the most reckless, dangerous utterance ever expressed by any American President. For any President to threaten mass murder and genocide, a war crime, is not something that can be seen as a “slip of the tongue”!

There is no forgiveness possible for this, as clearly, beyond any doubt, we have an unhinged, unstable, out of control, demented, dangerous demagogue who has control over nuclear weapons, and could destroy not only Iran, but the entire world in a moment of lunacy and out of touch with reality.

Every effort must be taken to force Trump out of office, as occurred with Richard Nixon in 1974.

It is clear that many people around Trump realize he is unstable, and there is dissent behind the scenes, including JD Vance and Tulsi Gabbard on the Iran War, but also others that quietly realize how dangerous Trump is.

Democrats and right wing Republicans that have spoken out on Trump’s horrendous behavior must work incessantly to bring pressure to force use of the 25th Amendment, and put the nation ahead of personal loyalty.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Alex Jones, Megyn Kelly, Laura Loomer, Nick Fuentes—all horrendous, obscene individuals, and others like them—have condemned the Iran War and Trump’s rhetoric, and a few Congressional Republicans, Thomas Massie, Don Bacon, Ron Johnson as three examples, have spoken out as well.

Pressure must be brought on the entirety of Congressional Republicans and the Trump Cabinet, led by Vice President JD Vance, to do what is right, and it would, likely, help them in tough Congressional races.

But the future of the nation and survival of democracy requires courage and principle above personal considerations, on the level of those Congressional Republicans, led by Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, Senator Hugh Scott of Pennsylvania, and Congressman John Rhodes of Arizona, who pushed Richard Nixon to leave office in August 1974!
