Emergence Of Anti Iran War MAGA Republicans Could Affect Midterm Elections Of 2026, And Presidential Election Of 2028!

Now that the United States is in Week Two of the Iran War, and with the son of the late Ayatollah being annointed his successor, it seems clear that America is on the road to a long, massive, expensive, disastrous intervention in the Middle East, without any certainty of success, similar to the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War.

And opposition is starting to emerge, from many so called MAGA Republicans, against the military intervention, some of it openly, and some of it behind the scenes.

Openly critical individuals this early include:

Tucker Carlson
Steve Bannon
Marjorie Taylor Greene, former Congresswoman from Georgia
Thomas Massie, Congressman from Kentucky
Rand Paul, Senator from Kentucky

Behind the scenes, based on past views about military intervention, and support of “isolationism” expressed, would include the following:

Vice President JD Vance
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard

The latter two are being very quiet at this point, but their past record of viewpoints clashes with what Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and apparently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio are promoting.

So there could be a battle brewing for the future of the Republican Party, based on what happens in the midterms, and as the Republican Party starts to look at its future direction.

It is hard to imagine Vance openly breaking with his party and his “boss”, the President of the United States, but it is perceived by many that had Vice President Kamala Harris expressed more differences with her “boss”, Joe Biden, possibly, the result in the Presidential Election of 2024 might have been different.

If Vance was to “break” with Trump, he still would be Vice President, but it would encourage Marco Rubio, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, and others to challenge him for the Presidential nomination in 2028.

Of course, IF Vance became President by succession, and therefore, would be a sitting President, it would be much more difficult for a rebellion by MAGA Republicans to succeed against him.

Most certainly, the future of the Republican Party with the upcoming Presidential Election of 2028, is very much a fluid situation, and very difficult to project what will occur down the road!

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul Courageously Critical Of Trump Domestic And Foreign Policies

Anyone who has read my blog over the past 17 plus year since August 2008 know I am not a fan of Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul.

His father, former Congressman Ron Paul, was also not someone I would endorse.

Both Pauls were and are “libertarians”, which is a viewpoint I totally disagree with on principle.

When Rand Paul contended for the Presidency in 2016, it was made clear by this author and blogger that the thought of him in the White House was horrifying.

However, in the present, Rand Paul has taken stands that this author and blogger can agree with.

Paul has been a critic of the invasion and overthrow of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, particularly in regard to the Trump Administration and Secretary of State Marco Rubio not informing Congress under the War Powers Act of 1973.

Also, Paul has been a critic of the tactics and actions of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), and has been concerned about the damage to civil liberties and the Bill of Rights. He is calling for testimony before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, for which he is the Chairman, by the heads of ICE and Customs and Border Protection, in February, in the light of the murder of Alex Pretti and Rene Good in Minneapolis in January.

Paul has been willing to go against Donald Trump openly, more than almost any other Republican Senator, except for Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski and soon retiring North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis.

So as a Senator with true beliefs, and an element of courage, it is appropriate that Rand Paul be saluted for behaving in a proper, principled manner on these issues, while this author and blogger reserves the right to be critical of Paul on other matters.

Donald Trump Demonstrates His Total Mental Deterioration At Davos, Switzerland!

Donald Trump made a total fool of himself at the Davos, Switzerland World Economic Forum, and demonstrated his total mental deterioration.

It was a total embarrassment for all Americans at the behavior and rhetoric of Trump, totally alienating America’s European allies in NATO, by threats to seize Greenland militarily if necessary, and then totally backing away for now from such threats, and confusing Iceland with Greenland.

Trump’s total ignorance of these two territories was mind boggling, and makes extremely clear that Trump is so demented that he does not even realize when he makes a mistake, and that a normal person would correct himself.

Even more shocking is how no one from the American delegation, including Trump Cabinet members Marco Rubio, Howard Lutnick, and Scott Bessent, intervened to correct the outrageous, moronic mistake.

When one considers the constant drone of attack on Joe Biden, due to his occasional flubs when speaking, and his poor performance in that debate with Donald Trump in June 2024, leading to Biden’s withdrawal from the Presidential race in 2024, it is outrageous how a pass constantly is given to Donald Trump.

Clearly, Trump is not fit to serve as President, and his maniacal behavior and crazy utterances on Truth Social, should lead to Trump being removed as a danger to American democracy, the rule of law, and national security.

The 25th Amendment, Section 4, should be utilized, but there is zero chance that Vice President JD Vance and a majority of the Trump Cabinet would ever take that step to protect the nation and the world from the demented Donald Trump!

One Year Into Second Trump Term, And Speculation About 2028 For Republicans Begins

The most controversial first year of any Presidency is coming to an end, and already, speculation is rampant about who will be the Republican nominee in 2028.

While Donald Trump has talked at times about defying the 22nd Amendment, which limits Presidents to two elected terms, reality is he is NOT going to run in 2018, and might not even be in office, with the clear signs of his declining mental and physical health.

Already, Erica Kirk, the widow of the assassinated Charlie Kirk of the conservative organization, Turning Point USA, has openly endorsed Vice President JD Vance for the Republican nomination, even though Vance says he is not thinking about the future at this point.

Of course, the odds that JD Vance will succeed to the Presidency before the election seems quite likely. But even if he does, it is not clear that the field of potential Republican Presidential contenders would disappear.

So other than Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be considered the next most likely nominee, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

But there are others as well, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz, outgoing Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, and Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton.

84th Anniversary Of Pearl Harbor: America In Great Danger Under An Incompetent And Unstable President!

Today is the 84th Anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, which brought America into World War II.

There are only 12 survivors of that attack, all at least 102 years of age.

Their sacrifice, and that of all those who perished on that day in 1941, led to America’s role in world affairs, after the crazy isolationism of the 1920s and 1930s.

And yet, now, we have an incompetent and unstable occupant of the Oval Office, who is only too willing to be charmed by authoritarian figures, as he works to model himself on them and their evil doings.

Donald Trump has worked to destroy American foreign policy, and is now condemning democratic leaders in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, as well as allies in Asia, and democracies elsewhere.

The danger is that with our naivete in the White House, we could see another intelligence failure that leads to a disaster far worse than Pearl Harbor or even the September 11, 2001 attacks.

We have an incompetent Secretary of Defense in Pete Hegseth, and a Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, only too willing to bend to the wishes of Donald Trump, and the entire Trump Cabinet are a bunch of lackeys, only too eager to be sycophants.

Trump An Appeaser Of Russia Openly, Willing To Sacrifice Ukraine, Sending Dangerous Message That Can Also Affect Taiwan’s Future!

It is well known that Donald Trump has an affinity for dictators, particularly Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation.

A Senate committee headed by Marco Rubio stated in 2019 that Russia had intervened in the Presidential Election of 2016 to favor Trump over Hillary Clinton.

Trump has denied this, but now he is pressuring Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, which has been fighting a brutal war of survival against Russia for nearly four years now, to give up part of their territory and other concessions to Russia, giving a deadline of Thanksgiving.

In the middle of this mess, Rubio, now Secretary of State, is caught in turmoil, and seems confused as to what is going on, as he has a long history of being hardline toward Russia and other autocracies!

Donald Trump has no problem becoming the new Neville Chamberlain of Great Britain, who conceded Czechoslovakia to Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany in 1938, which did not prevent the coming of World War II.

What Trump is perpetrating is a threat to NATO and, specifically, to Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania, all part of the old Soviet Union before 1989, and also to Poland.

Trump’s conceding to Putin is also a warning to Taiwan, with the growing threat that mainland China claims it will take over that island, as in their view, it is part of their nation, rather than an independent nation, as it has been since 1949.

THe lessons of history are being ignored, that giving in to authoritarians never works out well for democracies, particularly when there are unreliable allies.

Speculation Begins About Successor To Donald Trump Among MAGA Republicans, As His “Lame Duck” Status Has Begun!

One year since the Presidential Election of 2024, and Donald Trump is facing defeats, challenges, losses, and is no longer seen as invulnerable.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a “true believer”, has denounced Trump for abandoning many of the ideas that he promoted in the campaign, and she is not the only one who is starting to rebel against the concept that Donald Trump is invulnerable.

And rumors and gossip is spreading about who will succeed Trump, as the term “lame duck” has started to permeate political discussions.

Of course, Vice President JD Vance is the theoretical successor, and might end up in the White House, as Donald Trump continues to deteriorate mentally, and as his unpredictable behavior multiplies.

But even if that happens, it is not a guarantee that Vance would be the heir of MAGA Republicans, as there are too many ambitious people to claim that Vance is a shoo in for 2028.

Growing Dangers For Donald Trump After Nine Months In Office!

President Donald Trump claims he has had major successes in his first nine months of his second term.

The truth belies that.

The last two months saw another trillion dollars added to the National Debt, to an all time high of $38 trillion, the fastest increase in history.

The attempts of Trump to gain backing of Vladimir Putin to end the war against Ukraine has failed, and another planned summit is now off.

The Israeli hostages were freed, but very little progress on the so called “20 point plan” has occurred, despite intervention of Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who are spending time in the Middle East.

The government shutdown, now in its 23rd day, second longest ever, is beginning to have a deleterious effect, as government workers are not being paid, and SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits are about to end for milions of needy Americans, and Trump is showing no signs of concern about the effect on the American people of his refusal to negotiate with the Democrats.

Speaker Mike Johnson is making a horrendous reputation for himself, refusing to swear in a newly elected Congresswoman, in order to hold off dealing with the revelation of the Epstein files.

The lunatic Tariff policies of Trump has totally alienated Canada, which now says the relationship of long standing has been irreparably harmed, and will never be the same.

These are just a few of the horrendous developments going on as Donald Trump destroys the White House, and demands $230 million from taxpayers as compensation for the prosections and convictions he faced for the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection, which sadly failed to prevent his coming back to the White House in the Presidential Election Of 2024.

Sycophancy Of Trump Cabinet Beyond The Pale!

The word “Sycophancy” means “obsequious behavior toward someone important in order to gain advantage”.

This is the kind of behavior by those who serve or wish to serve a King, an Emperor, an authoritarian dictator of either the Left (Communism), or the Right (Fascism).

It is not the behavior that is acceptable in a democracy, as it encourages lying and deceit, and engaging in corruption and scandal, which undermines the citizens of any nation.

And yet, that is exactly what is occurring during the past seven plus months of the second Donald Trump Presidency.

The Trump Cabinet and other advisers are the most corrupt, disgraceful, and outrageous group of any President in the entire history of the United States.

At televised Cabinet Meetings, they praise Donald Trump in an extreme way as would happen under Joseph Stalin in the former Soviet Union and Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany, as well as other past authoritarian dictatorships and historically, absolute monarchs and Emperors throughout World History.

It is also what goes on around Vladimir Putin in the Russian Federation; Kim Jong Un in North Korea, Xi Jinping in China, and other modern extremist dictatorships.

It is impossible to rank Trump sycophants, as they are all horrendous, obnoxious excuses for human beings.

Whether it is Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Tulsi Gabbard, or any other woman around Trump, they are all enough to make one shudder in horror.

Whether it is Pete Hegseth, Howard Lutnick, Scott Bessent, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Russell Vought, or any other man around Trump, they are a total disaster.

The same feeling exists around Vice President JD Vance, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as terrible as he is, lying to himself, and complying with Trump, seen as the “least” disgraceful Cabinet member, but not someone to applaud in any sense!
