First Amendment Under Attack After Charlie Kirk Assassination: An Out Of Control Abuse!

America is in a very dangerous time, as the Charlie Kirk Assassination has spurred Donald Trump and his supporters to promote an attack on the First Amendment—freedom of speech, press, and assembly.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Deputy Chief Of Staff Stephen Miller, and Vice President JD Vance have all declared war on what they call “enemies” of the left, who must be suppressed by government action, although Bondi has backed off somewhat after criticsm even by some Republicans.

This attack on the First Amendment is also causing some media outlets, such as the Washington Post, and even MSNBC, to fire certain commentators, and for some universities, airlines, and other corporations to fire those who have posted on social media, in a manner that their employers have decided is not acceptable.

And Trump has started a $15 billion lawsuit against the NY Times.

ICe (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has also been engaged in abuse of power in their arrests of people who look or speak Spanish, and their rough treatment of those they detain.

These are all signs of Fascism in America, but those who believe in freedom of expression are refusing to back off.

There is NO justification for violence against anyone, but the record shows much more extremism by the RIGHT, rather than the LEFT!

The Growing Threat Of Tech Billionaires On The American People!

The reality that millions of Americans are “hooked” on Violent Video Games and Smart Phones, along with Social Media, which dominate their lives daily, and that Tech Billionaires are becoming more aggressive in acquisition of wealth as they manipulate the population, clearly a massive danger sign for American society.

This is particularly true among younger Americans, particularly, but not only, Generation Z, and males, more than females.

Aggressiveness and promotion of hate and conflict is inciting more political and other violence, as shown by the assassin of Charlie Kirk.

Algorithms are poisoning public discourse, private thoughts, and spurring violent actions of all sorts.

Some kind of government regulation seems essential, and young people in particular, need to be encouraged to get off their phones and video games, and partake in other activities that are more socially productive.

Fear And Concern About Safety Of College Campuses After Charlie Kirk Assassination On University Campus!

This author, scholar and blogger had the privilege of serving as a college professor of History and Political Science for 53 years, teaching, either full time or part time, at a total of eight different colleges and universities, four in New York from 1972-1989, and four in south Florida from 1989-2025.

Never in those years did the thought of someone speaking before college and university students being assassinated, with thousands looking on, cross my mind.

So the shocking assassination of right wing advocate Charlie Kirk in Utah has hit every person, who believes in dialogue and tolerance of differing views, with a sense of shock and disbelief.

It makes one have to worry that college and university campuses may be in danger of being new battlegrounds of dissidents using weapons to attack their rivals, a situation that is intolerable and horrifying!

Higher education is supposed to be the location for open, challenging debate of ideas, but not a location to set out to eliminate those critical of others, and unwilling to have a civilized dialogue.

It is clear that colleges and universities will have to bolster their law enforcement operations as essential actions, but also a sad commentary on the growing threat of political violence!

It is also essential to listen to Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox, who promoted dialogue and understanding in the wake of the shooting, arguing for the need to tone down the rhetoric and accusations, particularly since the young man who committed the terrible act was from a Republican and Trump supporting family, not from a so called “leftist’ background!

Trump Is Promoting Division, Rather Than Unity, After Charlie Kirk Murder!

In past times, when shocking events and tragedies occurred, whoever was President of the United States promoted a sense of unity, rather than division.

Such was the case when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, followed by Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, all under the Presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson.

Such was the case when September 11 occurred, under the Presidency of George W. Bush.

Such was the case when Donald Trump faced an assassination threat in 2024, under the Presidency of Joe Biden.

The four former Presidents—Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden–all issued compassionate and unifying statements after the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk on this past Wednesday.

But Donald Trump, as usual, is promoting division and threats, and making claims about the assassin, which are totally untrue.

Instead of “lowering the temperature” of the rhetoric, he is escalating the potential of political violence!

The assassin was a straight white Utah Mormon, whose family are Trump supporters, not some liberal or socialist or gay or Muslim or immigrant or Latino or anything remotely related to the so called Left!

Danger Of Charlie Kirk Becoming Martyr And Provoking Political Violence! :(

The unfortunate assassination of Charlie Kirk is leading to threats to various groups who he constantly attacked in his statements and appearances, with the financial support of billionaries who wish to control the future with their right wing extremism.

So the Democratic National Committee, various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), and a multitude of others who were not in agreement with his extremist rhetoric, are now being theatened.

Charlie Kirk is becoming a martyr for so called “good Christians”, who are anything but that, but simply those exploiting his death to promote their agenda against the rights of women, racial minorities, immigrants from Latin America and Africa, gay and transgender people, Muslims, and even Jews (except in regards to the Gaza War).

Violence and intimidation are being utilized, and Donald Trump is talking about retribution and revenge, an excuse to continue his quest to promote authoritarian tyranny and destroy our American democracy and the rule of law.

Shocking Assassination Of Charlie Kirk A Danger Sign For Future Of American Politics! :(

The shocking assassination of right wing activist Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, at a Utah University speaking event yesterday, is a danger sign for the future of American politics.

Kirk was a controversial and outspoken figure, who had millions of followers on social media who followed his extremist rhetoric, which had elements of racism, nativism, misogyny, Islamophobia, and attacks on gay, lesbian and transgender people.

And despite his recent pro Israel support on the Gaza War, Kirk also had uttered antisemitic assertions, and was promoting a white Christian MAGA nationalism mentality.

Kirk had the full support of Donald Trump and his children, JD Vance, and all of the most influential Trump Cabinet and advisers, and was seen as the most controversial and divisive young advocate of Trump policies, along with Stephen Miller.

Now, sadly and troubling, we are seeing, already, right wing attacks on the left wing, without any idea of who the assassin was, and that person’s motivations, as the manhunt continues as I write this entry.

And the fear is that Trump and his Cabinet will step up even more abusive and aggressive attacks on the vulnerable groups that have already been victimized in the past eight months.

Here we are on the 24th anniversary of September 11, and now a crisis on what the American future will be, and the fear of many more victims of violence and bloodshed that may be perpetrated by the extremists of both sides of the political spectrum.

This is a time that America should be uniting in mourning a death that should not have occurred, not a time for retribution and revenge!

24 Years After September 11: Nation Is Not Safe Under Donald Trump!

The nation is arriving at the 24th Anniversary of the September 11 World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks by Al Qaeda, and with a sense that the world and the nation are at a difficult and dangerous time.

Donald Trump is undermining American foreign policy, alienating our allies in NATO and in Asia, with his tariffs, and his willingness to see tyrants such as Vladimir Putin in a more friendly manner, despite the Russia-Ukraine War.

Trump has undermined our defense capabilities with his incompetent choice of Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense, and Tulsi Gabbard to be Director of National Intelligence.

Trump boasts about our defense and power, but America is not safer with his unstable leadership.

There is a lot to be concerned about regarding safety for the American people and nation in future years under Donald Trump’s Presidency.

US Supreme Court Promotes Racial Profiling! A Disgrace For Court’s Reputation Of Upholding The Constitution!

The US Supreme Court is supposed to uphold the Constitution and enforce the Bill of Rights.

In its past, it has often NOT done such, and now, in the present, the Supreme Court under Chief Justice John Roberts, has reached a new low in its reputation and image.

It has endorsed racial profiling as permissible in seven Los Angeles area counties by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the National Guard. But once that is permitted, it can be expanded to everywhere, even though the Court said this was a “temporary” situation, not a final determination.

However, it is now open season for anyone who “looks” Latino, speaks with a Spanish accent, or has an Hispanic last name to be detained and put into a “hell hole”, at least in the Los Angeles area but likely to be expanded.

These victims of an oppressive government are denied due process, and subjected to lack of food, water, medicine, even a bed to sleep on while being held without trial, and in many cases, rapidly deported, by the order of Kristi Noem, Thomas Homan, Stephen Miller, Pam Bondi, and all of the other lawless Donald Trump lackeys!

Anyone who believes in basic civil liberties and sees America as the last great hope for oppressed people around the world has to be mourning and crying at what the American people, in their prejudice and bias and ignorance, have wrought upon the nation by electing Donald Trump to a second term, after the criminal actions he perpetrated in the first term!

Epstein Congressional Resolution Opposed By All But Four Republicans, And Termed A “Hoax” By Donald Trump, Absolutely Stunning!

It is stunning and shocking the the House resolution proposed by Kentucky Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, to have a complete accounting of all government records on the Epstein Scandal, has been unable to gain the backing of more than three other Republicans—Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, and Nancy Mace of South Carolina–at this moment of time.

A majority of the House of Representatives is needed to force the issue, but it is two votes short, and no other Republicans seem ready to back the resolution, due to Donald Trump threatening his party members, calling taking such action as “hostile”, and saying the whole Epstein investigation is a Democratic “hoax”.

And this, despite survivors holding a press conference last week to reveal the horrors of what they went through, and wanting accountability and transparency!

Trump is opposed to any action, or revelations, clearly, because he clearly personally engaged in illicit sex with underage girls and young women, in league with Jeffrey Epstein.

The Republican Party in Congress is a total disgrace, and should be drummed out of office in the midterms in 2026 and in 2028, but sadly, many Americans, with their racism, misogyny, nativism, and ignorance of reality, are likely to continue backing Donald Trump and his party, as they destroy American democracy and the rule of law!

Hopefully, however, Marjorie Taylor Greene has threatened to reveal names, and if she does, she will have done one good thing, while otherwise, she has been a total nightmare in the House of Representatives with her various lunatic activities and behavior!

Horrible Potential Republican Governors In 2026 Midterm Elections!

With the midterm 2026 State Gubernatorial Elections just a bit more than a year away, there is the potential for a group of horrible individuals running for the Governorship in Republican states winning executive control of their state governments.

These would include the following:

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville

Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs

Florida Congressman Byron Donalds

Michigan Congressman John James

New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik

Ohio entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy

South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace

Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn

All eight of these individuals are highly controversial, overtly loyal to Donald Trump, and would promote the MAGA concept of the Republican Party in state government.

The odds at this moment, more than a year ahead of the elections, is that Tuberville, Donalds, Ramaswamy, Mace, and Blackburn would be odds on favorites to become their states’ governors, while Biggs, James, and Stefanik have a tougher battle ahead, with their states presently having Democratic Governors.
