Six Southern States Moving Toward Democrats In Midterm Senate Elections

With less than five weeks until the Midterm Elections of 2026, six Southern states, usually Republican, are moving toward the strong possibility of electing Democratic Senators.

These six states are:

Jon Ossoff–Georgia–running for reelection and strongly ahead in the polls
Roy Cooper–North Carolina–former Governor solidly ahead in the polls
James Talarico–Texas—running ahead for a state that has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988
Annie Andrews–South Carolina-running ahead in a state that has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1998
Scott Colom–Mississippi—a long shot in a state that has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1982
Kentucky–Charles Booker—a long shot in a state that has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1992

Disgraceful Attack On Prosector Jack Smith By Republicans On Senate Judiciary Committee Over Donald Trump’s Lawless Activities Around January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection!

Nearly six years after Prosecutor Jack Smith was given the job to investigate the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection provoked by Donald Trump, and the mishandling of classified documents at his home Mar A Lago, Republicans in a contentious Senate Judiciary Committee hearing seeking to prosecute Smith for doing his job properly, bitterly condemned Smith in a totally outrageous manner.

Republican Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri called Smith a “Dirtbag”, and similar disgraceful languages and accusations against Jack Smith were uttered by other Republican Senators, including Josh Hawley of Missouri, Ted Cruz of Texas, and John Kennedy of Louisiana.

Particularly outrageous is the reality that Senator Hawley had fled the January 6, 2021 Insurrection in a cowardly way, but now has forgotten how he has disgraced himself on denying the reality of that event.

The Republican head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, at 93, is hinting at running for another six year term in 2028, when he would be 95 years old.

This is totally outrageous, as Grassley showed evidence that he should not be running again, as he has made a disgrace of himself and his majority Republican committee.

Democratic Senators Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Adam Schiff of California, and Cory Booker of New Jersey, along with other Democratic members of the committee, came to the defense of Jack Smith.

They ridiculed the idea that Republicans who, as well as Democrats, suffered through the danger of the US Capitol Insurrection of January 6, 2021, had the gall to continue to perpetuate lies and deceit about the criminality of Donald Trump on that day, as well as after.

Jack Smith did his job professionally, and was a great public servant in the Justice Department for many years, and deserved better treatment than these bitter attacks, all based on Trump’s desire for “revenge”.

The Republican Party in Congress has continued to make themselves look totally corrupt and unethical. They should pay the price by having the Democratic Party win the majority in both houses of Congress in the upcoming Midterm Elections of 2026 on November 3, which, hopefully, will occur.

Donald Trump Endangering National Security Daily By His Attacks On Allies, And Embrace Of Authoritarian Leaders!

Tragically, every single day, President Donald Trump is endangering national security by criticizing our long term allies the nation has had since the end of World War II.

This includes all of the 32 nations in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; Canada; as well as our Asian allies, including Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea; Australia and New Zealand; along with our alliances with Middle East nations, including Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations.

So the fear is that if a crisis arises in international affairs, that America would not have its allies ready to support the nation, as they did after September 11, when other nations joined the fight against Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

At the same time, Trump has cozied up to authoritarian leaders, including Vladimir Putin of Russia; Xi Jinping of mainland China; and Kim Jong Un of North Korea.

Eventually, and tragically, America could face in the future an attack against the homeland that would make September 11 look as minor by comparison.

35 House Of Representatives Districts As Battleground In 2026 Congressional Elections!

With 37 days until the Midterm Congressional Elections of 2026, there are 35 House of Representatives districts that are the battleground for control of the chamber in the upcoming 120th Congress (2027-2029).

61 House members–24 Democrats and 37 Republicans–chose not to run for reelection, with 9 Democrats and 20 Republicans retiring to run for other offices.

11 members, 7 Democrats and 4 Republicans, lost renomination. Also, one Republican and one Democrat resigned due to scandal.

Also, there were mid decade redistricting changes in Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

If the Democrats could win three seats, they would have a barebones majority, as the Republicans have had in the 119th Congress (2025-2027).

The 19 states with competitive House districts include the following:

Arizona 2
California 3
Colorado 1
Florida 3
Iowa 2
Michigan 3
Missouri 1
Nebraska 1
Nevada 1
New Jersey 1
New Mexico 1
New York 3
North Carolina 2
Ohio 2
Pennsylvania 3
Texas 3
Virginia 1
Washington 1
Wisconsin 1

It seems evident at this point that Democrats have the likelihood of gaining more than 3 additional seats to become the majority in the House of Representatives in the 120th Congress.

Two Democratic Senate Nominees With “Liberal” Christian Views: James Talarico And Adam Hamilton!

The general view is that “religious” Americans tend to vote Republican, siding with right wing, hardline, harsh views promoted by evangelical Christians, Catholics,Orthodox Jews, and other “religious” people of any other faith.

Sadly, most of these right wing “Religious” people are not pursuing the teachings of Jesus and other prophets, which promoted an open minded, “liberal” view toward people of all backgrounds, including racial minorities, all religious beliefs, women, gays and transgenders, and also the poor seeking safety and the opportunity to improve their lives (immigrants).

But lo and behold, the Democrats have nominated “Liberal” Christians in two Senate races:

James Talarico in Texas, Presbyterian Pastor in Training, seeking a Master of Divinity at Austin Prebyterian Theological Seminary. He is challenging Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who won the Republican Senate nomination over Senator John Cornyn.

Adam Hamilton in Iowa, Methodist Pastor–head of the United Methodist Church, the largest Methodist church in America, located in the Kansas City metropolitan area. He is challenging Republican Senator Roger Marshall.

These two states have a history in recent decades of being “Red” states, but the indications are that both Talarico and Hamilton have a good chance at winning the Senate races, and would represent a more inspirational view on the treatment of so called “marginal” groups who have faced great discrimination by pastors and ministers and politicians who promote discrimination and prejudice against these various groups.

And both Talarico and Hamilton pursue the same goal of openness and tolerance that Pope Leo XIV promotes as leader of the Catholic Church.

Liberals Accomplish So Much, With No Help From Conservatives!

Liberals, including the vast number of Democrats, but with support from some Republicans, but not many, over the years, have given America many important programs and laws, with no help from Conservatives over the past century.

These include:

The 19th Amendment—Women Suffrage
Social Security Act
Medicare and Medicaid
Environmental Legislation
Consumer Protection Laws
Labor Laws
Civil Rights Laws
War On Poverty
Americans With Disabilities Act
Affordable Care Act

Most of these laws were passed by strong majorities of Democrats in Congress, with the most success under Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal, and Lyndon B. Johnson and the Great Society.

Other legislation was passed by Democratic majorities in Congress and cooperation with Republican Presidents.

But most Southern Democrats and the majority of Republicans who call themselves “Conservatives” battled to prevent such reforms.

So to declare oneself “Liberal” is a “Badge of Honor”.

Democratic Party Brought Massive Reforms Over A Century!

The Democratic Party, founded in 1828, has had a history of nearly 200 years, and it has certainly had its ups and downs, particularly when the South was able to dominate the party for so long.

But the political transformation that was caused by the Great Depression caused a massive change in the party and nearly a century of accomplishing great domestic legislation, and promoting “progressive” or “liberal” causes that have lasted and benefited tens of millions of Americans.

It was Democratic Presidents and Congresses that created so much positive change, with, sadly, the present attack by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans being a tragic development that must be reversed after Trump leaves office in January 2029.

Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal (1933-1945) gave us:

Social Security
Fair Labor Standards Act
National Labor Relations Act
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
Works Projects Administration
Public Works Administration
Civilian Conservation Corps
Tennessee Vally Authority
Rural Electrification

Under Democratic President Harry Truman (1945-1953)

Expansion of Minimum Wage and Social Security; Civil Rights Commission

Under Democratic President John F. Kennedy (1961-1963)

Civil Rights Advancements; Expansion of Minimum Wage

Lyndon B. Johnson and the Great Societ (1963-1969) gave us:

Medicare and Medicaid
Civil Rights Act
Voting Rights Act
Elementary and Secondary Education Act
War On Poverty
First Environmental and Consumer Legislation
Cabinet Agencies of Housing and Urban Development, Transportation

1970s—with Democratic support, Richard Nixon (1969-1974) signed the Environmental Protection Agency; the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Under Democratic President Jimmy Carter (1977-1981):

Federal Emergency Management Agency
Massive engagement in Environmental Protection and Advancement
Cabinet Departments of Education, Health And Human Services, Energy

1990s

With Democratic support, George H. W. Bush (1989-1993) signed the Americans with Disabilities Act

Under Bill Clinton (1993-2001)

Barack Obama Years (2009-2017)

Affordable Care Act
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Dodd Frank Act–Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act
Lily Leadbetter Fair Pay Act

Joe Biden Years (2021-2025)

American Rescue Plan (Covid 19)
Inflation Reduction Act
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
CHIPS and Science Act

Democratic Opportunities To Pick Up Presently Republican Governorships

As the Midterm Gubernatorial Elections come up in less than six weeks, Democrats have the opportunity to pick up some presently Republican held Governorships.

Altogether, there are 36 Gubernatorial elections in 2026, out of a total of 50 state Governorships.

Presently, there are 26 Republican Governorships, and 24 Democratic Governorships, and the odds are excellent that Democrats will likely be the majority of Governorships after these elections on November.

With so many Governors having term limits, and some choosing to retire, this means major changes in Governorships nationwide.

This massive turnover that is coming is a positive sign for Democrats, since Republicans at all levels, including Governorships, have to deal with the negative effects of Donald Trump’s policies, particularly the Iran War; inflationary prices on groceries, gasoline, and everything else; and the negative effects of Trump’s protective tariffs on most nations.

The best opportunities for Democrats to switch control of Governorships in their favor include:

Alabama–Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville vs former Democratic Senator Doug Jones.

Florida–Republican Congressman Byron Donalds vs former Democratic Congressman David Jolly.

Georgia–Republican Healthcare Executive Rick Jackson vs Democratic Former Mayor Atlanta Keisha Lance Bottoms.

Iowa–Republican Businessman Zach Lahn vs Democratic State Auditor Rob Sand.

Nevada–Republican Governor Joe Lombardo vs Democratic State Attorney General Aaron Ford.

Ohio–Republican Entrepreneur and former Presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy vs Democratic Former Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton.

Texas–Republican Governor Greg Abbott vs Democratic State Representative Gina Hinojosa.

So a total of seven states presently with Republican Governors now have a competitive race for the upcoming Gubernatorial elections in November.

Meanwhile, 16 Democratic held seats, with many Governors running for reelection, and newcomers in some states seen as likely to remain Democratic, including:

Arizona–Katie Hobbs
California–Xavier Becerra
Colorado–Phil Weiser
Connecticut–Ned Lamont
Hawaii–Josh Green
Illinois–JB Pritzker
Maryland–Wes Moore
Massachusetts–Maura Healey
Michigan–Jocelyn Benson
Minnesota–Amy Klobuchar
New Mexico–Deb Haaland
New York–Kathy Hochul
Oregon–Tina Kotek
Pennsylvania–Josh Shapiro
Rhode Island–Helena Foulkes
Wisconsin–David Crowley

Kansas is the only state with presently a Democratic Governor, Laura Kelly, who is term limited, and where it will be difficult to elect a Democratic successor.

It seems likely that Democratic nominee, State Senator Cindy Holscher, will have a tough battle to win over Republican State Senate President Ty Masterson, since Kansas is strongly Republican.

The two term Governor Kelly was considered an “outlier”, surprising everyone by winning two terms and battling the Republican majority Kansas state legislature.

15 “Red” States In Play In Senate Races In Midterm Elections of 2026

What seems likely to be a “Blue Wave” in the upcoming Senate races in the Midterm Elections of 2026, has created a situation where states that are normally seen as “Red”, are witnessing really tough races where Democrats have a good to moderate chance of “flipping”.

This includes the two states that have special elections to complete the two years remaining in the term—Florida with Ashley Moody, who replaced Marco Rubio; and Ohio with Jon Husted, who replaced JD Vance. Their Democratic opponents have a reasonable chance to defeat them, Angie Nixon in Florida, and Sherrod Brown in Ohio.

The following states, generally “Red”, have a potential chance to elect Democrats in November.

Alaska–Republican Senator Dan Sullivan vs former Democratic Congresswoman Mary Peltola.

Idaho–Republican Senator Jim Risch vs. Independent Todd Achilles.

Iowa–Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson vs Democratic State Representative Josh Turek.

Kansas–Republican Senator Roger Marshall vs Democratic Pastor Adam Hamilton.

Kentucky–Republican Congressman Andy Barr vs Democratic former State Representative Charles Booker.

Maine–Republican Senator Susan Collins vs Democratic former State Legislator Troy Jackson.

Mississippi–Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith vs Democratic local District Attorney Scott Colum.

Montana–Republican US Attorney Kurt Alme vs. Democratic Former Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Alani Bankhead vs Independent former President of University of Montana Seth Bodnar.

Nebraska–Republican Senator Pete Ricketts vs Independent Former Labor Union Leader Dan Osborn.

North Carolina–former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley vs Former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper.

South Carolina–Republican Senator Darline Graham vs Democratic pediatrician Annie Andrews.

South Dakota–Republican Senator Mike Rounds vs Independent Air Force and Navy veteran Brian Bengs.

Texas–Republican State Attorney General Ken Paxton vs Democratic State Representative James Talarico.

At this point, six weeks to Election Day, the best bets are:

Sherrod Brown–Ohio
Alaska–Mary Peltola
Iowa–Josh Turek
Kansas–Adam Hamilton
Maine–Troy Jackson
Nebraska–Dan Osborn
North Carolina–Roy Cooper
Texas–James Talarico

If at least four of these eight candidates win in their states, it would be a Democratic majority, assuming New Hampshire stays Democratic with Chris Pappas; Michigan stays Democratic with Abdul El-Sayed; Georgia stays Democratic with Jon Ossoff; and Minnesota stays Democratic with Peggy Flanagan.

Notable is that Independents, who would be likely to join the Democratic caucus in the Senate include:

Idaho–Todd Achilles
Montana–Seth Bodnar
Nebraska–Dan Osborn
South Dakota–Brian Bengs

An Horrendous Crime: Mass Killing Of Journalists In Gaza War By Israel!

Working in the field of journalism is a necessary and honorable profession, with the constant danger of journalists being abused, wounded, and much too often, being murdered.

This is a problem around the world, not only in a few nations, but in particular, in the past three years, the mass murder of hundreds of journalists by Israel, involved in covering the Israel-Palestinian War in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Lebanon and other Middle East areas, an horrendous crime totally out of control.

As of July 2026, the best statistics are that 241 Arab Journalists have been killed by Israeli military forces or by use of missiles and bombs.

This is outrageous, totally unacceptable, and in addition, a majority of reported 70,000 plus Palestinians killed by Israeli Defense forces are women and children and older people.

This whole situation is a violation of basic humanity, and the civilized rules of war, and cannot be seen as acceptable in any fashion.

Israel certainly had a right to respond to the October 7,2023 Massacre, which killed about 1,200 innocent people, and the taking of about 250 Israeli hostages, with many over time finally being released, but some dying in captivity.

But to conduct an endless war with such massive loss of life, and seemingly never ending, Israel has gone beyond the pale.
