The CEO of Papa John’s, John Schnatter, has made a public complaint that “ObamaCare”, requiring him to give health insurance to all uninsured, full time employees by 2014, will raise pizza prices by 11 to 14 cents.
There is doubt as to whether that is really the case, but even if it is, is it not worth it for customers to be willing to pay such a measly amount extra for their pizza?
Is anyone going to decide not to buy pizza because of having to pay a dime and four pennies more as a maximum?
Actually, deciding not to buy Papa John’s would probably, long term, be better for one’s health, as it certainly is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a superior pizza that everyone must have!
If the price is to pay a bit more for those who consume Papa John’s, so be it, for the good of the full time employees of the company, who deserve consideration by their employer, instead of public complaints!
Well, Professor, it’s a fact that Obamacare jacked up every healthcare plan! First we got hit with our largest increase since opening our doors in 1996, in 2010 the renewal increase was slightly over 23%. That was 100% greater than any other increase in prior years.
Then in 2011, we were told that we wouldn’t see anything else major until Obamycare hit. So, we were blessed with just a 10% increase.
This year, I about passed out. The renewal came in last week at 34%! Who do you think is going to pay for that, Professor!?! It’s progressive MORONS like you that just think business owners can just suck it up, and not take it out of the customers or the employees. However, this is going to force business owners to make the decision that the majority of Progressives and Obama truly wanted, which was force all of us to put our employees on Obamacare! So much for the: “If you like it, you can keep it”, and that “we had to pass the bill to keep costs from skyrocketing”.
I find it unpleasant that price increases have occurred, but a lot of it is greedy health insurance companies trying to undermine ObamaCare, in the hopes of killing it.
In any case, if consumers have to pay more, which is totally typical in all businesses, so be it, as all people are entitled to health care, not just you and me, but all people. It is basic common decency, and the right thing to do. If you did not have health insurance, you would understand. This is not a society of just ME, but WE, the way it ought to be in a democracy.
