Here we are in the midst of the greatest human crisis caused by nature–the Haitian Earthquake–and the hate mongers, the right wing religious and ideological conservatives–are doing nothing but make the situation worse by their rhetoric.
Pat Robertson’s earlier reported comment about Haiti having made a pact with the devil was already commented upon by the author a few days ago. Rush Limbaugh exploits the situation by claiming it is a way for Barack Obama to consolidate support among darker skinned blacks! Now most recently, Ann Coulter, who loves to issue outrageous statements with a smirk, says that she wonders why Bill Clinton, who she insults with sexual innuendo, has to be involved in Haiti relief. Indeed, it would be better to send Jimmy Carter, since there are next to no Jews in Haiti that he could insult, according to her statement!
So rather than contribute to the Haiti relief, these three despicable human beings instead exploit it, with Limbaugh and Coulter using it as an opportunity to trash Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter, all of whom are involved in active efforts to help the needy and the poor. This is particularly the case for Carter and Clinton in their private lives in the years after the White House. Instead of applauding this, Coulter ridicules it!
There is an old saying, that what goes around comes around, and somehow one has to believe that God will punish these despicable human beings for their outrageous lack of concern for the Haitian victims, and willingness to exploit the issue for their own advantage!
Ron – you must give credit where credit is due. Operation Blessing – a Pat Robertson Spin Off – is in Haiti right now and has been since the very beginning of this disaster. In deed, Operation Blessing, The 700 Club and CBN – did not have to wait for this disaster to strike – they, all, have been active in Haiti for many years – just like other areas of the World and the US. They know the people, the demographics and what infrastructure they had there. OB is actually far more organized and suited to operate in Haiti than many of the so called “expertsâ€.
Who do you think fed, clothed and provided medical aid to the many Caribbeans, US, Central and South Americans, who were left destroyed by the horrific Hurricanes over the past decade? Did you forget The Big Tsunami 2004, the Ukraine, Europe, India, Turkey, Red China, Japan, Africa, Asia, Asia Minor, the Middle East, Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem – even North Korea – the list goes on and on. They been to most disasters and “situations†that many Countries – including the US ignore. Like the Sudan and Darfur!
Why are you not proud of Pat Robertson and his “administration†that have taken on the Haitian’s Needs with “a full, long range commitment to restore a future to that island nation†– long before many people even knew or cared about the Haitian People.
Why are you not proud of this American’s “response to this unbelievable natural disaster – as shown by the outpouring of financial and practical support demonstrated†in the many years before this disaster stuck?
Why are you not proud of Pat Robertson’s leadership that really “is a true model of what we all have a right to expect†from an American Leader and his proactive “standard for future leaders as well
What about his Call, “Courage and Dedication to Duty
I know you hate Pat Robertson – I got it. But, he and his people do many good things that you neglect to mention. Since you are into “worksâ€, you should mention the good things. If, or should I say when, the next big hurricane devastates West Palm, you may have to rely on him and his people to get your medical needs, food, fuel, water, clean clothes, showers, shelter and even some cash taken care of. What will you write, then?
Bill, I am very glad to see you are finally writing in response to my blog. 🙂
I must be honest and say I was not aware of what you say about Pat Robertson, and if what you say is indeed the case, which I do not doubt, as you are writing it, then I stand corrected as to what he and his followers have done for mankind.
However, I still resent his rhetoric as after September 11 and immediately after the Haitian earthquake as promoting hate and divisiveness. In other words, I would say to Pat Robertson to continue his good deeds and avoid constant controversial and outrageous statements.
Hello there 🙂 me and a friend are currently working on a research on this subject for a school project and your article seems to be really useful 😀
