Trump Public Opinion Ratings Collapse!

The latest polls indicate Donald Trump is under water in most of the nation, with only a few states being positive toward him and his domestic and foreign policy agenda.

The states that show support of Trump include:

Missouri
Nebraska

After these 16 states, Trump is very unpopular in 7 “battleground” states
including:

North Carolina
Pennsylvania
Wisconsin

Nevada
Georgia

And in crucial states, such as Ohio, Florida, Virginia,and even Texas, Trump is extremely unpopular.

He has lost Generation Z; Latinos; women; African Americans; highly educated voters; those with less than a college degree, and most significantly, Independents.

Texas Senate Race Likely To Promote Flip Of Senate To Democrats!

In a surprise, but not shocking development, President Donald Trump has abandoned Texas Senator John Cornyn, who voted with him almost all of the time, and instead, has thrown his support and endorsement to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a highly divisive and corrupt figure, for the upcoming Senate Republican Primary runoff, taking place on May 26.

Trump has proved yet again that loyalty is a one way street, as no matter how much any Republican backs him, if such individual shows any independence or expresses doubt about some Trump utterance or policy, Trump is very willing to abandon him.

This led to the defeat of Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, because of his persistence in pursuing the Epstein Scandal, and speaking out in criticism of the Iran War.

This led to the defeat of Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, who went against his own best judgment to support Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services, despite his crazy views on vaccines. But Cassidy also voted to convict Trump on impeachment charges after the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection, so Trump went on the attack for Cassidy’s “disloyalty”.

Now, Cornyn, who was Senate Majority Whip after 2014, and was a contender for Senate Majority Leader in 2024, faces the likelihood that he will lose his seat to a man, Attorney General Ken Paxton, who was impeached but not convicted in the Texas state legislature, for corruption, and also was cheating on his wife, who is presently suing him for divorce. But Trump says Paxton is a “True” MAGA Republican.

The end result is the strong likelihood that Texas State Senator and Democratic Senatorial nominee James Talarico, who has great charisma and personal presence, will have an easier time winning the Senate seat, the first Democratic statewide victory in 30 years. If Talarico wins, the likelihood of Democratic control of the US Senate in the 120th Congress (2027-2029) seems assured.

Talarico will turn 37 this summer, and is perceived by many as a future leader of the Democratic Party nationally, if he can win the Texas Senate seat, and some observers see him as having potential for national office.

Four Octogenarian Presidents In Next Three Months!

America has had 45 men serve as President, and 12 of them have reached the age of 80, and with three more to be added to the list between June and August 2026.

So one third of our Presidents will have reached the age of 80, with six of them reaching the 90s up to 100, and nine reaching the age of 80 plus.

Those in their 90s include Jimmy Carter, who reached age 100, followed by George H. W. Bush (94); Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan (93); John Adams and Herbert Hoover (90).

Those in their 80s include Harry Truman (88); James Madison (85); Joe Biden (who will be 84 in November 2026); Thomas Jefferson (83); Richard Nixon (81); and John Quincy Adams (80).

In the next three months from today, Donald Trump will reach 80 on June 14; George W. Bush on July 6; and Bill Clinton on August 19.

Seven of these 15 are Republicans (HW Bush, Ford, Reagan, Hoover, Nixon, Trump, W Bush); 4 are Democrats (Carter, Truman, Biden, Clinton); 1 is Federalist (Adams); and 3 are Democratic Republicans (Madison, Jefferson, JQ Adams) in party affiliation.

Interestingly, 4 of the 15 Presidents were from the first 6 Chief Executives. Then, all of the remaining 11 Presidents who will have reached the age of 80, are a full century later after JQ Adams.

And after Hoover and Truman, and from Nixon onward in succession, every President from Ford, Carter, Reagan, HW Bush, Clinton, W Bush, Biden and Trump, will have reached that accomplishment, with only Barack Obama still nearly 15 years away from being an octogenarian.

DC National Mall Day Of Prayer A Farce On American History And Its Founders Belief In Separation Of Church And State

Yesterday, Sunday, May 17, on the DC National Mall, there was a so called “Day Of Prayer” to celebrate 250 years of American Independence, organized by Freedom 250, a subsidiary of the National Park Foundation.

This was a total farce, as it was simply an evangelical right wing Christian event, ignoring Catholics, mainstream Protestants, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and other religious beliefs.

It included involvement by Trump Administration leaders who are total hypocrites in their so called religious beliefs, and do not lead lives that are models for others.

But, very revealing, was the fact that Trump did not even participate personally in the long hours event, preferring instead to go golfing.

And it goes against the Founding Fathers who promoted total separation of church and state, and would condemn a right wing extremist version of Christianity, and the concept that America is a so called “Christian” nation, when that was not the purpose of the American Revolution.

The idea that Donald Trump is promoting extremist Christianity is a total falsehood, as he has no belief in religion, and only exploits it for his own aggrandizement.

Instead of promoting the love and compassion represented by Pope Leo XIV and religious leaders of many denominations, instead the goal is to divide and stir hatred of anyone who does not accept the extremist views of pastors and politicians who see religion as a way to promote greedy acquisition of wealth, at the expense of the vast number of Americans who struggle to advance themselves in a society which worships money above all.

If left to this extremist white supremacist Christianity, women, immigrants, and racial minorities would be subjected to discrimination, and represent a reversal of the civil rights movement of the 1960s, which promoted an expansion of American democracy.

Only Two Senators And One House Member Who Voted For Impeachment Of Trump After January 6, 2021 Remain In Congress

After the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection, incited by President Donald Trump, 10 Republicans in the House voted to impeach Trump, and 7 Republican Senators voted to convict Trump.

Sadly, as we face the Midterm Elections of 2026, only ONE House member, and only TWO Senators remain in Congress for the future, and one of the Senators, Susan Collins of Maine, faces a tough contest against Democrat Graham Platner, for her desired sixth term in the upper body.

David Valadao of California is running for reelection, and while the district lines are likely to change, due to the vote of Californians to promote redistricting to favor Democrats, it seems likely that Valadao will keep his House seat.

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska does not face voters again until 2028, but having already beaten back an attempt to defeat her in 2010, when she lost the Republican primary, ran as an Independent, and still was elected again, as she was in 2016 and 2022.

Four of the other five Senate Republicans who voted to convict Trump all retired at the end of their term—Richard Burr of North Carolina in 2022; Patrick Toomey of Pennsylvania in 2022; Ben Sasse of Nebraska by resigining in 2023; Mitt Romney of Utah in 2024; and now Bill Cassidy of Louisiana has been defeated in the Republican primary yesterday.

This is a sad commentary on the reputation of the Republican Party, as Donald Trump works to wipe out the truth and the facts that led to the impeachment trial, and the first time to have multiple members of his party vote to convict and remove.

Speculation On Long Shot Democratic Presidential Contenders For 2028

With speculation about the future Presidential Election of 2028 heating up, as we near the Midterm Congressional and Gubernatorial Elections of 2026, Reid J. Epstein of the NY Times published on May 13 an exhaustive list of potential contenders in both parties, totaling the “crazy” number of 62 individuals—30 Democrats and 32 Republicans.

This author and blogger thinks this massive list is “off the wall”, and that the vast number of these potential 62 contenders will never even announce a Presidential candidacy.

However,there are some who are intriguing on the Democratic Party side.

Newcomers who have to prove themselves by winning in November

Graham Platner of Maine, Senate
Rob Sand of Iowa, Governor

Democrats in office who would be fascinating candidates

Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Senator
Jon Ossoff of Georgia, Senator
Jason Crow of Colorado, House of Representatives

Realistically, of the above list, the only likely contenders who would announce for President would be Slotkin and Ossoff.

However, there is speculation that Talarico, who has really inspired and excited many about his prospects, could end up running for Vice President, as after all, Vice President JD Vance only had one and a half years in office as Ohio Senator, before being tapped for the Vice Presidency.

And also, Barack Obama announced for President only two years after winning his Illinois Senate seat, and became President after four years of service.

Donald Trump Summit In China At Weak Point Of His Presidency: Danger To Taiwan!

Donald Trump just completed the much heralded summit in China with Xi Jinping, and no major breakthroughs on the US-China relationship seem evident.

Trump went to China at a low point, with the war against Iran having major opposition at home and among NATO allies; with the highest inflation in the past few years; with clear differences with China over Taiwan, and the fear that Trump will abandon Taiwan, much as he has done with Ukraine; and with Trump’s own mental and physical state in rapid decline.

Summits are supposed to lead to major accomplishments, but this particular summit seems like a dud, with the only “accomplishment” being trade deals that seem to have been achieved for many of the sixteen “oligarchs” who went with Trump to China.

Abject Cruelty Of Trump Administration On A Multitude Of Matters Shocking And Against American Values!

In a time of a multitude of outrages being perpetrated by Donald Trump and his Cabinet members and other appointees, a particularly disturbing reality is the abject cruelty that Trump promotes.

ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has been willing to victimize legal immigrants; undocumented immigrants who have not committed any crimes; unaccompanied children; elderly people who have been in America for many decades; military veterans; recipients of the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) under President Barack Obama; pregnant women; and people severely ill with various health issues. Also, some people are deported to countries they have no relationship with, and do not know the language of, and many of these nations are oppressive regimes.

There has been a total lack of compassion, empathy, humanity, and decency, and also, lack of consideration of the long term damage mentally and physically, visited, upon victims of this nativist, biased, Presidency.

While there have been other Presidents who displayed similar behavior, none have been to the extent now being perpetrated.

Attacks On First Amendment Escalating As Donald Trump Seeks Retribution

The Donald Trump attacks on the First Amendment are escalating as retribution is sought against all critics.

Two weeks ago, the day that King Charles reminded America about checks and balances, and need for restriction of executive power, the Trump Administration proceeded to indict for the second time the former head of the FBI, James Comey, claiming wrongfully that Comey had threatened the life of President Trump.

Also, ABC was faced with a federal lawsuit due to the humor and comedy of Jimmy Kimmel, once before literally fired for his commentary on Donald Trump, but restored a week later.

The First Lady, Melania Trump, also condemned Jimmy Kimmel as promoting violence, pure hypocrisy, as it is her husband who is provoking terror and violence through his rhetoric and actions as President.

The growing threat against all in the federal and state governments across America are due to the provocative and divisive language and actions of the President, who cannot tolerate humor or criticism.

And the Trump Administration is pursuing legal action against news media, including even the conservative Wall Street Journal, owned by conservative Rupert Murdoch, as well as the NY Times, and undermining CNN which soon will likely be owned by David Ellison, of Paramount Skydance Media, which already has undermined CBS News since they gained control of that once great media institution.

Additionally, Jeff Bezos, owner of the Washington Post, has done great damage to that newspaper, turning it editorially into a right wing direction, while the regular news coverage is still considered reliable.

Democrats Must Promote New Voting Rights Legislation IF They Take Power In The 120th Congress (2027-2029)

IF the Democrats can win control of the House of Representatives, and hopefully, the Senate, for the 120th Congress (2027-2029), it is urgent that new Voting Rights legislation is adopted.

What the Supreme Court has done in Louisiana V. Callais has wiped out the advancements of the past six decades, and is unacceptable long term.

To deny minority groups in America–African Americans and Latinos–a role in American government, is setting America back to the late 19th century, and cannot be sustained long term.

And the need for Supreme Court reform is also urgent, including imposing for future Justices age limits and term limits, and also expansion of the Court from 9 to 13 members.

The whole future of American democracy, already wounded, is at stake in these upcoming Midterm Elections of 2026!
