Donald Trump’s Massive Destruction Of LBJ’s “Great Society”!

America is witnessing under Donald Trump in his second term Presidency a goal that the extreme right wing MAGA Movement and “Project 2025” has been working toward for decades—the massive destruction of all of the good work of President Lyndon B. Johnson and his “Great Society” in the mid 1960s.

All of the major actions of the Johnson Presidency in domestic affairs, and also of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Earl Warren, is being reversed in a heartless, callous, cruel manner by both Donald Trump and the extreme right wing majority of the John Roberts Supreme Court.

Among these actions of massive destruction have been the following:

Civil Rights Act of 1964
Voting Rights Act of 1965
Medicare and Medicaid
Federal Aid to Education
Immigration and Nationality Act 1965
Environmental and Consumer Legislation
Housing and Labor Reforms
Eliminating Government Funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and PBS
War On Poverty Programs, including Job Corps, Project Head Start, and Food Stamps (SNAP)
National Endowment For The Arts and National Endowment For The Humanities

Trump has attacked educational programs and cultural institutions, including the Kennedy Center, the National Museum of American History, all other museums connected with the Smithsonian Institution, and News Media.

Trump has also worked to destroy domestic initiatives of presidents after LBJ, including in particular:

Richard Nixon
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton
Barack Obama
Joe Biden

Once Donald Trump is out of office, and assuming that Democrats can retake the White House and Capitol Hill, it will take a massive effort to reverse the horrendous damage, and it will be more than a one or two year effort to bring back progress domestically.

Donald Trump gave a speech from the Oval Office on Thursday evening, full of delusion and lies, regarding his false claims about the Presidential Election of 2020, which he lost massively to Joe Biden.

But he set the stage for the Department of Homeland Security, under MarkWayne Mullin, to threaten interference in the promotion of free and fair elections in November, 2026, as he well knows that his Republican Party is is dire straits in public opinion polls, and in fund raising in many Congressional races, particularly for the US Senate.

Trump also threatened to take away the licenses of ABC and NBC for refusing to cover live the propaganda speech he was engaging in, an attack on the news media.

Trump’s henchmen, including Mullin; Brendan Carr of the Federal Communications Commission; Russell Vought of the Office of Management and Budget; Kevin Roberts, the head of the Heritage Foundation and author of “Project 2025”; and Stephen Miller, White House Deputy Chief of Staff For Policy and Homeland Security Adviser—are determined to undermine American democracy and free elections, and the battle against these authoritarian forces must be waged!

America is blessed with a basic set of freedoms, as stated in the First Amendment to the US Constitution–the right to freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and to petition the government for redress of grievances.

Tragically, the Trump Presidency has massively violated the First Amendment, leading to legal and judicial challenges, many which have been won, but at great financial and emotional cost.

Now, the Trump Administration is investigating and suing NY TIMES journalists for exposing the dangers of the new Air Force One “gift” from the Middle East nation of Qatar, showing how unsafe the plane is for protecting the President, other government officials, and news reporters that travel with the President.

Crazily, Trump wants to prosecute these reporters, despite the fact that their exposure of the issue about the plane involved protection not only of him, but of national security in a broad sense.

So this blogger and author, once again, as often in the past, salutes the major news media that will NOT bend to Trump, and will continue to commit themselves to exposure of truth and facts without any ideological basis.

A free unlimited news media is essential for a democracy to survive, but the Donald Trump Presidency has been working full time to destroy freedom of the press.

Allowing CBS News to be “destroyed” by Paramount SkyDance owner David Ellison and his father Larry Ellison, in the name of “pleasing” Donald Trump and his aim of destroying the truth and the facts of history and current affairs, is a disaster, a tragedy of massive proportions. Their interference with the flagship show, SIXTY MINUTES, is a disgrace!

Scott Pelley, the highly regarded journalist who was the leading “star” of SIXTY MINUTES, denounced what is going on, and now has been fired, and the future of the landmark show, that has been part of the heritage of outstanding journalism, is in crisis after 58 years longevity since 1968.

If the Ellisons get their way, they will gain control of CNN as well, and further destroy honest, factual journalism.

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos has undermined the Washington Post, with his machinations at that reputable newspaper, and the right wing tilt of its editorials.

And there have been controversies surrounding ABC News and the Los Angeles Times as well.

All this, as well as the manipulative, deceitful, lie based Fox News Channel and the New York Post, owned by Rupert Murdoch and his right wing empire.

So honest, accurate journalism is in a massive crisis.

Attacks On First Amendment Escalating As Donald Trump Seeks Retribution

The Donald Trump attacks on the First Amendment are escalating as retribution is sought against all critics.

Two weeks ago, the day that King Charles reminded America about checks and balances, and need for restriction of executive power, the Trump Administration proceeded to indict for the second time the former head of the FBI, James Comey, claiming wrongfully that Comey had threatened the life of President Trump.

Also, ABC was faced with a federal lawsuit due to the humor and comedy of Jimmy Kimmel, once before literally fired for his commentary on Donald Trump, but restored a week later.

The First Lady, Melania Trump, also condemned Jimmy Kimmel as promoting violence, pure hypocrisy, as it is her husband who is provoking terror and violence through his rhetoric and actions as President.

The growing threat against all in the federal and state governments across America are due to the provocative and divisive language and actions of the President, who cannot tolerate humor or criticism.

And the Trump Administration is pursuing legal action against news media, including even the conservative Wall Street Journal, owned by conservative Rupert Murdoch, as well as the NY Times, and undermining CNN which soon will likely be owned by David Ellison, of Paramount Skydance Media, which already has undermined CBS News since they gained control of that once great media institution.

Additionally, Jeff Bezos, owner of the Washington Post, has done great damage to that newspaper, turning it editorially into a right wing direction, while the regular news coverage is still considered reliable.

After a totally exasperating six months in office, there is no doubt that there has been massive Presidential abuses of power, unmatched in American history, in the second term of Donald Trump.

Trump has utilized more executive orders than any of his predecessors; has issued a massive number of pardons, in most cases totally uncalled for, including for those engaged in the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection; has ignored a vast number of federal court orders; has attacked universities, news media, law firms, and corporations that dared to challenge him; and has managed to intimidate the Republican majority in both houses of Congress to do his bidding.

All this creates the image that Trump perceives himself as a “King”.

In foreign affairs, Trump has upended traditional diplomatic relations and alliances of many decades, with his massive attack on trade patterns through his imposition of high protective tariffs; and his changing diplomatic relations with our long standing allies in Europe and Asia. He has also antagonized our Canadian and Mexican neighbors, creating a tense situation on both our northern and southern neighbors, unprecedented in our history.

Donald Trump has been lashing out against a free press, guaranteed under the First Amendment

In his political speech at the Department of Justice last Friday, totally inappropriate, he called for ending the licenses of news stations, including CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS.

Trump also is calling for the end of government support of PBS and NPR. And he has attacked the two leading newspapers of record–the NY Times and Washington Post.

Trump has pressured changes by the management of cable stations and newspapers to appease his administration, a very alarming development.

He has also called, specifically, for the firing of Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow, and applauded the fact that Joy Reid was removed from MSNBC.

Trump has had past fights with Jim Acosta, who recently left CNN.

He has managed to convince Jeff Bezos, one of the three wealthiest billionaires, and owner of the Washington Post, to interfere with free expression by columnists, leading many to leave that paper, and causing a major drop in online subscriptions.

He is trying to promote an obedient press that will not report anything negative about his Presidency, wishing to promote mistruths rather than truth and facts.

Courageous and principled journalists are refusing to bend to his demands, and he has called them enemies, and many of these people and organizations may face outrageous and illegal prosecutions by the Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is only too willing to bend to the President’s wishes and whims.

The survival of a free press and news media is urgent to preserve American democracy and the rule of law, so this is an ongoing battle that must be fought without retreat!
