Unveiling Of Barack And Michelle Obama Portraits At Biden White House A Celebration!

In the midst of difficult and stressful times in America, yesterday was a glorious day of celebration as Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama returned to the White House to unveil their official portraits that will be added to the White House Art Collection, and rejoice with Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden!

The portraits of both the President, by artist Robert McCurdy, and the First Lady, by artist Sharon Sprung, are gorgeous art, and it was an opportunity for the Obamas and Bidens to get together and celebrate the accomplishments of both Obama and Joe Biden in the Presidency!

Usually, the portraits of a President are unveiled in the administration of his successor, but that was not possible with Donald Trump, who constantly savaged the Obamas, and promoted the theory that Obama was not born in the United States, the so called “Birther” theory!

One has to wonder if it will ever happen that there will be unveiling of portraits of Donald Trump and Melania Trump in the White House art collection, but if so, it will not be during the Joe Biden Presidency, as Trump still refuses to accept that Joe Biden was legitimately elected President in 2020!

Labor Day Should Remind Us Of Significance Of Labor Unions In American History!

Monday is Labor Day, a celebration of the contributions and sacrifices of generations of workers who struggled to honor the efforts of working people, who had to combat the power of corporations and commit themselves to reform and humane treatment.

The first national holiday came about in the Presidency of Grover Cleveland in 1894, just as we had the Pullman Strike, which led to the imprisonment of Socialist Eugene Debs, but led to the growing success of organized labor over the next decades.

The ultimate triumph of organized labor came in the New Deal of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and while much of the nation, particularly the Southern states, worked against unionization, there was expansion of labor union membership nationally.

Sadly, the Presidency of Ronald Reagan saw labor union growth come to a halt, and has only recently started to increase once again.

But membership in labor unions is only in the midteens in number right now, when it once was about a third to 40 percent.

President Joe Biden, however, is a champion of organized labor, and will speak on Labor Day tomorrow in Pittsburgh, to commemorate labor, and call for the further expansion of unions for workers!

In the Presidential Election of 2020, Biden gained the backing of 56 percent of union households, crucial to his victories in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in particular!

Joe Biden Makes Clear In Philadelphia Speech The Dangers Presented By “MAGA” Republicans!

President Joe Biden delivered a blistering attack last night in Philadelphia, the “Cradle of Liberty” against former President Donald Trump and the threat of “MAGA” Republicans to American democracy and the rule of law!

Biden pulled no punches, abandoning the idea of bipartisanship, which he had promoted for so many years in the US Senate, as the vast majority of the Republican Party has become, as Biden calls it, “Semi Fascist”.

The speech reminded this author of similar speeches by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in defending his “New Deal” in the time of the Great Depression, and FDR’s strong rebuttals of “isolationists”, who opposed his foreign policy in the lead up to World War II!

It also reminded this author of Harry Truman challenging the Republican Party in 1948, the famous “Give Them Hell Harry” campaign for reelection, which seemed hopeless, but with the result of a stunning election victory against all public opinion polls at the time!

Joe Biden Promotes Law And Order And Democracy, While Donald Trump Promotes Q’Anon Conspiracy Theories And Violence!

Yesterday, in Pennsylvania, President Joe Biden promoted law and order and democracy, defending the FBI and law enforcement in general, against the “MAGA” Republicans who, led by Donald Trump in his rant yesterday on his social media platform, advocated crazy Q-Anon conspiracy theories, inciting violence and bloodshed!

Biden called for making stricter gun laws to prevent the kind of mass bloodshed that has become a major crisis in America, and came out for promoting abortion rights, rather than the “MAGA” Republican move to outlaw all abortions, no matter what the circumstances, being pushed by the Far Right extremists!

Joe Biden represents stability and common sense, while Donald Trump clearly is panicking as the investigation of his taking national security documents to Mar A Lago, and refusing to return them expeditiously, indicates that he has been engaging in illegal, criminal activities, which is likely to lead to his indictment.

For South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham to assert that any indictment of Trump will lead to bloodshed and violence and riots, is reprehensible, and must not stop the move to hold Donald Trump accountable for his multiple crimes and illegalities in the Presidency!

Trump seems to be, more than ever, acting in a manner that indicates panic and hysteria, and mental illness seems evident.

This man is a menace to America and the world, and must be prevented from ever again coming close to the Oval Office!

Dr. Anthony Fauci: A True Hero Scientist Attacked By MAGA Republicans, Including Despot Ron DeSantis!

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Chief Medical Advisor to President Biden, and Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has served seven Presidents from Ronald Reagan to Joe Biden.

He is a national treasure, having dealt over four decades with the various Immunodeficiency diseases from AIDS onward to Swine Flu to Ebola to COVID 19.

He has had high respect and honors visited upon him, but now, as he plans to retire at age 82 at the end of 2022 after dedicated service to the nation, this hero scientist is being attacked by “MAGA” Republicans, including, most outrageously, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.

DeSantis has acted like a despot as governor, and has called Fauci an “elf”, due to his short stature, and proposed tossing him across the Potomac, a total lack of respect for his intellectual brilliance and knowledge. This outrage is by a governor who presided over more COVID 19 deaths than other states, due to his refusal to enforce masking and vaccinations against a disease which still kills 400 people per day, and over one million in two and a half years!

Both DeSantis and Rand Paul are clearly anti science and health concerns, and they should both be defeated in their races for Governor in Florida and US Senate in Kentucky this November!

President Joe Biden went on the offensive yesterday in Maryland, making clear what the issues are, as the Midterm Elections 2022 campaign has begun.

He attacked the “MAGA” Republicans, those who back and support Donald Trump even after all of the horrors of the January 6, 2021 Insurrection have been exposed!

This is the beginning of a nationwide campaign, and Biden was fired up, and looks in great shape as he speaks, inspired by true commitment to exposing the dangers of “MAGA” Republicans!

Biden said violence and hatred have been promoted by the “MAGA” Republicans, and called them “Semi Fascists”!

He said American democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law are in danger.

He made it clear that abortion rights, climate change, voting rights, gun threats, college student loan debt forgiveness, and protection of Social Security, Medicare and Veterans Benefits from proposed Republican desire to phase these “entitlements” out in a five year period, are part of the Democratic Party crusade!

He made it clear he could work with Conservative Republicans such as Larry Hogan, the outgoing governor of Maryland. But he was clearly backing away from the concept of working “across the aisle” with extremist right wing Republicans, and attacked Donald Trump as a “defeated” former President!

Joe Biden Hits A Homerun With Student Loan Debt Forgiveness

Joe Biden has hit a homerun with his decision to give all college students with a family income under $125,000 a forgiveness of $10,000 of their college student debt, and $20,000 to those who have Pell Grants, given to students who come from families with lower income.

Who cares what conservatives and Republicans say, as they had no issue in giving massive tax cuts to the wealthy in 2017 under Donald Trump’s Presidency, and gave many Republican politicians and corporate entities PPP loans (Paycheck Protection Program) that have been forgiven, with so much corruption and stealing going on, but fine with the right wing fanatics!

Education should be a priority, and no one should have grievances over giving college students and college graduates a chance to come out from under debt, and make it easier to have people marry, have children, buy a home, and have dreams of better times.

It is not as if Joe Biden gave all students total cleaning of their debt, but a hand up, a lift to the future, so he should be commended for that!

White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain has summarized Joe Biden’s record in office after 19 months.

After a period of struggle and disappointment, now Joe Biden’s record is quite amazing for a President in office just a bit more than a year and a half, a truly transformational President!

As Klain describes it in an interview with POLITICO, Joe Biden “has delivered the largest economic recovery plan since Roosevelt.”(Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal)

Biden has brought into law “the largest infrastructure plan since Eisenhower.” (Dwight D. Eisenhower and the Interstate Highway System)

Biden has accomplished “the most judges confirmed since Kennedy.” (John F. Kennedy)

Biden has accomplished “the second largest health care bill since Johnson.” (Lyndon B. Johnson and Medicare) and (after Barack Obama and the Affordable Care Act)

Biden has “the largest climate change bill in history.” (since Jimmy Carter promoted need for change)

Also, we have seen the first gun control bill since Bill Clinton’s time. (Brady Bill legislation)

And Biden has placed the first African American woman on the Supreme Court (Ketanji Brown Jackson) (After Lyndon B. Johnson placed the first African American man on the Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall)

Additionally, as many observers have noted, we have seen 9.5 million jobs created; accomplished the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years; forced the rich and corporations to pay their fair share of taxes; lowered drug prices and general health care costs, including insulin costs for Medicare recipients; lowered the national debt; confirmed the most diverse set of judges to the federal bench; accomplished the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the American Rescue Plan to combat the COVID 19 Pandemic; canceled some student loan debt; and passed the CHIPS and Science Act, and the PACT Act to help sick veterans from our wars.

In foreign policy, Biden ended America’s longest war (Afghanistan), which Donald Trump had arranged to end actually three months earlier than Biden; strengthened NATO by adding Finland and Sweden; took out Al Qaeda’s top leader; and come to the defense of Ukraine against the Russian invasion.

Republican Attacks On FBI, IRS, Election Workers A Reckless And Dangerous Escalation!

Republican Party leaders are escalating attacks on the FBI after the Department of Justice ordered intervention at Mar A Lago to retrieve national security documents illegally removed by Donald Trump when he left the White House.

Threats on the law enforcement agency and its agents make the Republican Party look like the party of lawlessness, chaos, and anarchy. This is all in the name of a former President who is promoting Fascist authoritarianism in his mission to regain power with the intention of destroying government institutions, with the help of the MAGA mob that can be seen as domestic terrorists, and Trump promoting their extremism.

But also, future potential House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is encouraging such action, with his promotion of conspiracy theories, along with a whole group of other reckless Republicans.

And Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who if reelected in November at age 89, would be President Pro Tempore if the Republicans become the majority in the US Senate, is asserting a preposterous claim. According to Grassley, the new Inflation Reduction Act of Joe Biden, which allows 87,000 new Internal Revenue Service employees, is going to lead to such new employees having the authority to use force, including assault rifles against small business owners and middle class tax payers to collect taxes!

This is pure insanity, and to think that the third and fourth ranking government officials that may arise after the midterm elections are attacking the federal government’s ability to do their jobs of public safety and tax collection, is an alarm bell for the future of extremism!

And also, election workers are being threatened all over the nation, as Republicans aim at insuring that their party will take control of election machinery and insure that only Republicans can win elections in the future!

The Republican Party has become a “clear and present danger” to American democracy and the rule of law, and has made the Midterm Elections of 2022 more urgent than any midterm elections in the past!

Despite Critics, Joe Biden Has Accomplished More Than Any President Since LBJ!

President Joe Biden has many critics, including those who think he should not run for reelection in 2024 due to his age.

But with recent successes, and adding to what was accomplished earlier, and despite strong attacks by Republicans, Joe Biden has actually accomplished more in domestic affairs than any President since Lyndon B. Johnson six decades ago!

The amazing difference is that Biden has had to work with a 50-50 US Senate, only the fourth time we have had an evenly divided Senate, unlike what LBJ had in the 1960s and Franklin D. Roosevelt had in the 1930s!

His long experience in the US Senate, and his ability to communicate, has led to results no one could have predicted.

Additionally, his success in unifying NATO, and gaining support for Finland and Sweden to join the alliance, make the US safer, and the world safer.

And support of Ukraine in the Russian war on that nation has made Russia lose massive numbers of troops.

Just imagine if Donald Trump was President!

The domestic successes of Biden would never have been accomplished, and Trump would have supported Russia against Ukraine, and almost certainly, would have taken America out of NATO!
