The Four “States” Of Florida

Florida began early voting today, and it is the ultimate “swing state”, as it is really four “states”!

North Florida and the Panhandle is strongly conservative and Republican, except for Gainesville, the home of the flagship University of Florida.

Central Florida is the ultimate battleground of Tampa and Orlando, with growing Hispanic population, heavily Puerto Rican, but also Midwesterners who are Republicans, so it is hard to know what will happen here.

Palm Beach and Broward Counties in South Florida are fertile Democratic territory, and heavily Jewish and other Northeasterners.

Miami Dade County is heavily Cuban, likely Republican, but the younger generation may be straying from their parents and grandparents.

Voter turnout and enthusiasm will decide if Florida goes to Barack Obama or Mitt Romney in ten days!

    Hello Professor,
I would pass on a quote from the great Will Rogers to the people of Florida and everywhere else on his comments to the political “Trickle Down Economic” policies of the late 1920’s which lead to the Great Depression 1930’s crash.

“The money was all appropriated for the top in the hopes that it would trickle down to the needy. Mr. Hoover didn’t know that money trickled up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night, anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellow’s hands.”

And there it is!! This statement is self-evident for many of us as I have also said this for the past decade plus. The “Trickle Down Economic” experiment that has been pushed over and over again at every recent election has proven itself to be nothing more than a destructive force for the Working Middle Class.

We have in our own lifetime seen first hand how true and accurate this statement is…….but yet we hear the current Republican Party headed up by Mitt Romney trying to push the exact same “Trickle Down Economics” as the Republican Political Platform and the direction this country should be going.

With the polling statistics as they are today, being so close in our current Presidential Election……to me just shows well the inability for many to look at facts and analyze the faults and the short comings to correct; or is it a “short memory” factor that too many U.S. Citizen have? Of course there is also the variable of “wanted, self-imposed ignorance,” being applied because they would rather believe and see life as they want reality to be. I am strongly leaning towards the latter statement.

In conclusion I contend that this viewpoint will lead to their own demise and 8 more years of irreparable damage.
