Dr. Anthony Fauci served as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, under seven Presidents from Ronald Reagan to Joe Biden, from 1984-2022, and was a lead member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force dealing with the massive COVID 19 Pandemic that erupted in 2020.
Fauci had to deal with an unstable President, Donald Trump, who worked to cover up the true origins of the pandemic, and admitted so to Bob Woodward of the Washington Post.
Sadly, he was subjected yesterday to a blistering attack by some of the most despicable Republican members of the US Senate, who sit on the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, headed by looney libertarian Rand Paul of Kentucky.
Rand Paul himself is an eye doctor with alternative certification which is not recognized by national organizations in the field, and is not seen as a medical professional with full legitimacy.
Paul has had a vendetta against Fauci due to Paul’s anti science, anti medicine, views about COVID 19.
President Joe Biden, sensing Paul’s attitude toward Fauci over the years, gave him a all encompassing pardon before he left office, but that does not fully protect against a potential contempt of Congress citation, that could lead to prison time, if adopted by a majority of the members of Congress.
It turns out that Fauci had a diary, meant to be private, exposed by Health and Human Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who is a total lunatic, with a past of drug addiction and sexual misbehavior to the extreme, who also has a vendetta against Fauci.
Apparently, Fauci demonstrated in his private diary postings, which were not designed to be made public, of having an ego and appreciating fame and renown, as if RFK Jr and all the Republicans on the committee do not have the same trait?
Fauci invoked the 5th Amendment a total of 111 times, which is his right, because he knows Paul is trying to find an excuse to send him to prison at his advanced age of nearly 86 over disagreements on COVID policy, and at the least, the committee might conduct a vote for contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions designed to entrap him.
No Republican on the committee was willing to admit that Donald Trump should be held responsible for the COVID 19 Pandemic response, not Dr. Fauci, who gave his best advice, but was constantly having to deal with a President who recommended the use of bleach and other lunatic alternatives to deal with the virus.
Rick Scott of Florida was involved in Medicare Corruption, paid a fine, but should have gone to prison, instead of becoming Florida Governor and then Senator.
Josh Hawley of Missouri fled the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection, but later denied that lawlessness reigned, and has been condemned by former Missour Senator John Danforth, who originally promoted his advancement. Hawley proved once again what a bully and lack of character and basic honesty he has.
Bernie Moreno of Ohio proved the mistake made when Sherrod Brown lost to him in 2024, and used foul language, unbecoming of a US Senator. Now he has a scandal with his daughter’s controversial divorce from another disgrace, his former son in law Congressman Max Miller of Ohio.
Ron Johnson of Wisconsin has been a horror in the US Senate ever since he twice defeated reputable Senator Russ Feingold in 2010 and 2016, proved once again what a low life he is, and the horrendous judgment of Wisconsin voters.
Ashley Moody of Florida replaced Marco Rubio by appointment when Rubio became Secretary of State, and demonstrated why one can hope that her likely Democratic opponent Alex Vindman can replace her in the Senate after the election in November.
Joni Ernst of Iowa never had a spine, and is leaving at the end of the year, giving us relief from a mediocre time in the Senate.
Only one Republican Senator, James Lankford of Oklahoma, showed some class and dignity in his questioning.
Meanwhile, Chairman Rand Paul cut short the time of Democrats Andy Kim of New Jersey and John Fetterman of Pennsylvania to make comments.
Rand Paul is on a tear to try to put Dr Fauci, who should be seen as a national hero, in prison in his old age on flimsy charges, and hopefully, that tactic will fail.
Dr Fauci’s recommendations and advice on COVID 19, while unpleasant and inconvenient to millions of scientific ignoramuses, was the proper approach.
Anyone who was against vaccines and masking demonstrated how moronic they were, and lacking in scientific knowledge.
Many of the million Americans who died could have been saved if everyone had been on the same page, dealing with inconvenience and using common sense.
Any thought that Rand Paul had started to sound sensible on some political issues has gone by the wayside by his lunatic behavior and sick desire to have revenge on Dr Fauci, who should be left alone in peace.
Dr. Fauci is a national hero, who through government service for 40 years, gave up the potential for far more lucrative medical pursuits if he had chosen not to serve the nation.
