When one examines the number of women in the US House Of Representatives, it is overwhelming how there are so many more Democrats than Republicans in the chamber.
Presently, there are 97 women serving in the lower chamber who are Democrats, about 45 percent of the party membership; while the Republicans only have 32 women serving, 15 percent of the party membership.
The expectation is that in the 120th Congress, there will be more than 100 women Democrats.
In the Senate, presently, there are 16 women Democrats and 10 women Republicans.
There were 22 newly elected women in the present House membership—19 Democrats and 3 Republicans; and 3 newly elected Democratic women in the Senate.
So a grand total of 155 women are serving in the 119th Congress.
