Texas Governor Rick Perry: The “Pro Life” Governor? NO, A Tragedy For Texas!

Texas Governor Rick Perry was a massive embarrassment when he ran for the Republican nomination for President in 2012.

He is the longest serving Governor in America, having succeeded George W. Bush as the executive leader of the Lone Star State at the end of 2000.

He has become infamous for ridiculous, insensitive, and moronic statements, and outrageous actions in office, including suggesting that Texas secede from the Union, as it did in the Civil War.

He has a reputation as a “Pro Life” Governor, but that appellation is a mockery of reality!

This is a man who refuses to accept Medicaid expansion that is fully covered by ObamaCare, and therefore, denies millions of poor Texans, many of them Latinos, any access to health care, and this is out of spite, not wanting to accept federal aid that would cost the state of Texas NOTHING!

Here is a man who has the record for the most death warrants and executions occurring under his regime, and brags about the massive use of the death penalty, setting a record for executions in American history, and having no doubts as to the innocence of any of the people on Death Row, who face death, with the state government resistant to reconsideration of cases, even with new evidence!

Here is a state where any suggestion of background checks or other protections against gun violence are ignored and ridiculed, with any Texan able to carry firearms into public places, including schools, bars, and restaurants, and the gun violence level is one of the worst in the nation!

Here is a man who vetoes a bill passed overwhelmingly by a GOP legislature, mandating equal pay for women, many of whom are single mothers who need to support their children!

And here is a man who wants, with his party, to destroy Planned Parenthood in Texas, and shut down nearly all abortion clinics in a state with 26 million people, and the largest state in area, with the exception of sparsely populated Alaska!

And here is a man who forces State Senator Wendy Davis of Fort Worth, opposed to this legislation, to conduct a filibuster under inhumane conditions, with no food, water, bathroom break, or ability to lean against or sit down over nearly a dozen hours, and her filibuster ended early, but opposition of supporters in the Texas State Senate galleries and halls of the legislature the only way to stop this massive assault on women’s rights, including control of their bodies! And now, Perry is forcing another confrontation, determined to ram through this despicable legislation, and in so doing, lecturing Wendy Davis and showing total disdain and lack of respect for her and Texas women!

This man is an excuse for a human being, and will go down over history as a true tragedy for the Lone Star State, and Wendy Davis or Julian Castro (Mayor of San Antonio), or some other Democrat needs to run against him in 2014, and end the Reign of Rick Perry over the destiny of Texas!

Well stated Professor!! Rick Perry is a mess! When I think he has popped his clown self up out of that rodeo barrel for the last time…he does it again!! The man never ceases to amaze!
I remember him bragging about all the wonderful jobs he is doing bringing to Texas…like Texas is the shining beacon of hope to lead the country out of the bad economy. Yeah right! Perry’s administration can brag about adding more minimum wage jobs than any other state. Add to that the use of immigrants for just about anything they can get away with in Texas, paying them half the minimum wage! Perry should brag about the fact that Texas has one of the highest level of poverty and people without health care than any other state!! A full time minimum wage ($7.25) earner in Texas will earn $290.00 per week, or $15,080 per year. Try supporting a family on that even with 2 wage earners.
I had to laugh last night when the slithering weenie Governor Perry described the action on the state house floor …meaning the balconies…saying” it was a breakdown of decorum and decency”? he continues saying “it is preventing us from doing what the people of this state hired to do”! I don’t know about governor Dimwit but it looked to me like the PEOPLE were talking loud and clear! The breakdown in decorum didn’t occur until the lack of respect and decency on the floor got so obscene and whacked the people would no longer tolerate it! I hope people from other states were inspired by the actions of these brave Texans..men and women! I also hope the people of Texas will have a little talk with governor “I’m The King” Perry and ask him just how much his “special sessions” are costing the taxpayers in Texas just so the Texas King can grandstand, puff out his chest and boast about his pro-life credentials….while Texas executes it’s 500 prisoner, half of these executions under Perry! Texas’ proud history at this milestone includes executions of juveniles and mentally disabled people, in addition to a slate of potentially innocent people!
Perry’s history boggles my mind and paints a grim picture. The moron has rejected science for superstition and reason for theology. He is against women’s rights, determined to suppress voter’s rights now that the SCOTUS has gutted the voting rights law and his is just plain STUPID. He hates government but he wants HIS government dictating every activity taking place in the state. The continued support he enjoys within the Texas is a sad reflection of the quality of education in the state and how it’s citizens must view humankind’s ability to handle the challenges we face.
Clearly Texas has a real problem electing people with basic brain stem activity. Perry and idiot congressman Louie Gohmert, and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott…the guy who is HELLBENT to keep people in Texas college students, old people and minorities from voting are just a few of the white republican Texas men dreaming of world domination, slavery restored and women on their knees attending to their every need. Geeez Texas…your state deserves better! I’ve been there and it’s kind of a nice place.

Very well said, Maggie! You add to my strong condemnation against Perry, who needs to be retired by defeat in 2014, maybe by Wendy Davis or San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro! It is reality that Texas is going “Blue” over time, and Perry’s dictatorial and arrogant actions may speed that eventuality sooner, rather than later, but in any case, it is going to happen, and then the GOP will NEVER win the Presidency ever again! That is, if there is a GOP left after 2016, or if we will have a revival of the Whig Party, which died in 1854.

Oh, and by the way, I have been to Austin and San Antonio, and really liked both cities, with Austin the intellectual and educated center of Texas. I have also been to Houston, and while it does not match up to other large cities in the Northeast, Chicago, and in California, it deserves better than the Neanderthal leadership it faces in state government!

Well contempary Texas has established themselves with another dubious legacy. A new defanition for our modern day vocabulary.

gohmert: Any stupid, foolish or obtuse public official. Origin: Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), one of the stupidest individuals ever to set foot in the U.S. Capitol an elected representative. [Urban Dictionary]

Citizens of Texas should be so proud with the way the rest of the clear and critical thinking public of this country sees them.

I listen to and watch Gohmert, and I think he is funnier than any living or dead comedian! LOL The question is does he REALLY believe the crap he spews from his mouth? How can anyone make Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin or Rick Perry look intelligent by comparison? LOL

Ronald writes, “Texas Governor Rick Perry was a massive embarrassment when he ran for the Republican nomination for President in 2012.”

It wasn’t just 2012. The Texas governor showed us how well he was already prepared for the presidency in 2011.

You are correct, D, as Perry actually self destructed in 2011, before the year 2012 began!

    Wendy’s Late-Term Democrats all agree.
