The Suicidal Nature Of The Republican Party: Why They Have No Long Term Future!

The author has written plenty on the faults and shortcomings of the Republican Party, and how they have stood in the way of promoting necessary reform and change in the midst of the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression!

The Republican party, by embracing Tea Party Movement favorites, such as Sharron Angle of Nevada, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah, Dan Maes and Ken Buck of Colorado, and Marco Rubio of Florida, have painted themselves in a corner!

Some, or possibly all of these candidates, might win office this fall, in the mood of discontent that exists in this country, but particularly for those running for the Senate, all of the above except Maes, their victory would only have the effect of weakening the Republican appeal for 2012 and beyond, and would lead to total chaos and anarchy in the Senate, worse than now exists, as these people have no desire to work at solving anything! 🙁

All they are interested in doing is “stirring up the pot”, and promoting whacko, loony ideas that will never make it to law or the Constitution! Their behavior, as Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post published this morning, is unpredictable and outside the mainstream, unwilling to work “across the aisle” or even with other Republicans! 🙁

This is NOT what we need at a difficult time for our country, and the Republican leadership in both houses of Congress will come to regret the fact that they have flirted with these Tea Party extremists who are just as willing to work against the establishment leaders, as against the Democrats!

In addition to their destructive behavior, which will undermine the party, the fact that the GOP is gaining a reputation as the party against African Americans, Latinos and Hispanics, gay and lesbian Americans, women, and young people, will doom them long term!

More than ever, they seem to be the party of WHITE older Americans and rural Americans, but the long term reality is that African Americans, Latinos and Hispanics, gay and lesbian Americans, women, and young people (both white and nonwhite) will reject this party that represents a past that cannot be revived, and promotes a message of division, hate, racism, prejudice, and concern only for the wealthy and privileged! 🙁

The Republican party as we knew it no longer exists, and is in the process of imploding! 🙁 This is a serious, and at the same time, sad matter, as the GOP in the past had much to offer as a legitimate alternative to the Democrats!

But now the Republican party is a shell of its old self, and an embarrassment to mainstream Republicans who can no longer be proud of where their party is headed! 🙁

To Newt Gingrich, Jon Kyl, Judd Gregg, Sharron Angle Et Al: Unemployment Compensation Is NOT Welfare! :(

In the midst of the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression, the Republican party is demonstrating how it has no concern or compassion for the millions of Americans who have lost their employment, some for two years or more already!

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia, Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, and Senate candidate Sharron Angle of Nevada, among others, have all described people on unemployment compensation as people on “welfare”, who are lazy, shiftless, and to be condemned as unwilling to take any job offer which comes along! 🙁

Unemployment compensation is not enough that anyone can live in luxury and contentment! It is only a portion of a worker’s former income! Many people have no opportunity to find a job, no matter how hard they try! But if they find a job that pays just a fraction of their former pay, then they cannot spend time finding a job that allows them to pay their mortgage or rent, and put food on the table, and plan for their children’s education and their own retirement!

These GOP politicians live off the public tax rolls, and mostly come into office wealthy, so what do they know about the struggles of everyday citizens? They have no concern, except to divide the nation and exploit for their own benefit!

The middle class has been decimated due to GOP policies while they controlled Congress from 1995-2007 and under the administration of George W. Bush from 2001-2009! How anyone with any intelligence could vote to back candidates who consider unemployment compensation as “welfare”, when everyone pays into the system throughout their work lives, is beyond comprehension! 🙁

Extreme Anti Abortion Views Of Libertarian Tea Party Republican Candidates For US Senate!

The Republican Party has had an anti abortion plank in its national platform since the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980!

But Presidents Reagan, Bush I and Bush II all made clear their beliefs in exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother!

Recently, the GOP position on exceptions on abortion has become more hard line, particularly so among libertarian Tea Party backed Republican candidates, most notably for the United States Senate!

Kentucky Senate nominee Rand Paul; Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle; and Utah Senate choice Mike Lee have all made clear their belief that a woman should be required to go full term on a pregnancy, even if caused by rape or incest–that as Sharron Angle terms it, two wrongs don’t make a right! 🙁

This is shocking for libertarian Tea Party types who would argue against big intrusive government in our lives, but yet are prepared to have government intervene on a personal matter of a woman’s body and health, and force her to follow through on a traumatic pregnancy caused by rape or incest!

This shows the hypocrisy of the Tea Party Movement and of libertarians who rail against big government, but insist that government has the right to force women to go through nine months of trauma after a shocking sexual assault!

This is a denial of personal freedom, but conveniently, the only freedoms Republican libertarians believe in is freedom of corporations to exploit the American people, and freedom of hypocrisy by these despicable candidates for public office! 🙁

Fox Propaganda Channel: Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee!

Fox News Channel claims to be a “news” channel, but what other “news” channel has THREE potential Presidential candidates on its payroll, giving them the ability to spread their propaganda and be given “softballs” by so called “journalists”, such as Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck? 🙁

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia, and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee all have tremendous exposure with “friendly” questioning!

Will they be able to keep their positions if they announce for President? How could they, without being accused of conflict of interest, accepting payment, and claiming to be news analysts?

One would think that even to suggest such an arrangement would be totally preposterous, but as it turns out, Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle said on camera in an interview with Carl Cameron that she wanted to have Fox allow her to know what questions were to be asked, to be able to promote raising of funds for her campaign, and to be a friendly interviewer! 🙁

Cameron, one of the very few real “journalists” on Fox, looked incredulous at the suggestions of Angle! It only made her look more crazy and loony than she has ever been before, but it made one wonder about the status, present and future, of the three potential Republican Presidential candidates !

It all just adds up to Fox being more and more a joke of a so called “news channel”, and therefore, justifiably, to be called “Fox Propaganda Channel”!

The Tea Party “Flame Throwers”: Will They Stir Up The Senate In 2011?

Reality has started to set in that we are witnessing the strong possibility of several “Flame Throwing” Tea Party Movement activists possibly being elected to the Senate this fall, and therefore adding tension and confrontation to an already divided, less than congenial institution! 🙁

The Senate historically has been considered a dignified body in which there is some “crossing of the aisle” and bipartisanship, but that has been disappearing in recent years! It is clear that Tea Party activists are not interested in promoting understanding and camaraderie, and they will cause much embarrassment in the Senate, as if there are not enough such cases who are already members of that body! 🙁

The most likely such Tea Party winners would include Rand Paul of Kentucky and Sharron Angle of Nevada, although both have been running defensively because of their record of statements and actions, which has caused avoidance of mainstream media by both of these characters!

But now, the new GOP nominee for the Senate in Utah, replacing the gentlemanly Robert Bennett, is a Tea Party activist, who is bound to stir up animosity and confrontation, based on his background! Mike Lee has the edge to be elected in traditionally Republican and conservative Utah, even if he acts or speaks in a nutty way! And being only 38 years old, he would be the youngest senator, and the likelihood of him keeping his seat beyond one six year term is quite assured! 🙁

There are still other possible Tea Party activists running for office who might become a problem in 2011, if they win office, as they have made it clear they have no desire to fit in, but would rather be rebels, even after attaining public office! 🙁

In any case, the Tea Party people now, and if they win office, will continue to provide much political entertainment for the media in the future! 🙂

What Sharron Angle And Rick Barber Share: Belief In Armed Insurrection! :(

Sharron Angle is the GOP nominee for Senator in Nevada, but who is Rick Barber?

It turns out that he is in a runoff for the Republican nomination for a Congressional seat in the Second District of Alabama.

So you might say, why is his name being brought up alongside Senate nominee Sharron Angle?

It turns out both of them have advocated armed insurrection, using the Second Amendment, with Angle stating such in January, and Rick Barber stating it this week in a commercial, appealing to the voters of his congressional district, using actors dressed up as the Founding Fathers to make his point! 🙁

Is this acceptable speech and advocacy, to promote an armed insurrection against our government? 🙁

Is our government a threat such as that under Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao, or Fidel Castro? 🙁

If one thinks that, then that person should be committed to a mental institution as a dangerous lunatic, as that is certainly NOT the case! 🙁

Unfortunately, there may be a small percentage of our nation which actually believes this drivel! 🙁

One thing is clear: It is necessary for the media to report this nutty and dangerous advocacy, and for the people who are sane and rational to make certain such characters as Sharron Angle and Rick Barber are defeated in their quest to become part of our government! 🙁

Rand Paul, Sharron Angle, And The National Media

Two Tea Party favorites and Republican nominees for the Senate, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Sharron Angle of Nevada, are purposely avoiding interviews with the national media!

This strategy is, supposedly, to avoid bad press about their extremist and whacky views on many important issues! But the problem is that it sets a bad precedent, as can these two possible future Senators expect that they are not accountable for what they have said and done? 🙁

Do they really think that avoiding the media will improve their image and public standing? 🙁

What are they going to do about public debates with their Democratic opponents, Jack Conway in Kentucky and Harry Reid in Nevada? Are they going to refuse to explain their views and to face the people they wish to serve? 🙁

Their avoidance of the media only adds fuel to the fire that they are both unfit for public office, and it makes the whole Tea Party Movement look even more ridiculous and outside the mainstream of American politics!

It will be interesting to watch both Paul and Angle squirm and evade over the next 20 weeks to November 2. It will be some of the best political entertainment in years! 🙂 LOL

British Petroleum’s Arrogance And Those Who Defend Them! :(

British Petroleum, and the oil industry in general, has been running amuck over our country, buying up politicians such as Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski and Louisiana Senators Mary Landrieu and David Vitter, and is now gaining backing from Tea Party Movement candidates, including Sharron Angle in Nevada and Rand Paul in Kentucky!

BP has made no plans for safety of its workers, and lost eleven of them in the April 20 explosion that led to the Gulf Oil Crisis! It has made no plans ahead of time to react to an industrial accident, and has only been concerned to maximize profits at the expense of workers, consumers, and the environment! 🙁 They have no clue as to how to resolve the crisis and have proved to be highly arrogant in their approach to the media and the public! 🙁

The idea that ANY politician could continue to back the oil industry in its rapacious disregard for the American people is an outrage, and the idea that deregulation is still being promoted after years of abuse, makes one wonder how any sane American could back any of these politicians and those who, like Sarah Palin, endorse “Drill, Baby, Drill”! 🙁

Is there any sense of responsibility to the American people by oil company leaders and their political “prostitutes”? Apparently “NO” is the answer! 🙁

Sharron Angle And Rand Paul: Rivals For Most Loony Senate Nominee!

GOP Senate nominee Rand Paul in Kentucky has been raising many people’s eyebrows with his libertarian sentiments, but he now has a rival for creating outrage, in Nevada GOP Senate nominee Sharron Angle!

Angle is against Social Security; for deregulation of the oil industry in the midst of the BP Oil Spill Crisis; against fluoridation of the water supply; against legal alcohol; pro gun rights; anti abortion; endorses a one parent income family; wants the Department of Education phased out, as well as the federal income tax; believes the government wants to set up “concentration camps” for critics; and is backed by conservative talk show host Mark Levin, singer Pat Boone, and “Joe The Plumber”!

If this woman and Rand Paul are elected to the Senate, that body will lose some of its dignity and stature, as they will stand out as among the most whacky and loony members the Senate has ever contained! Such characters as Jim DeMint of South Carolina, Jim Bunning (retiring) of Kentucky, James Inhofe of Oklahoma and others like them, will suddenly seem very stable and dignified Senators! 🙂

In other words, the United States Senate, like many institutions across America, seems to be declining in quality, and that is a sad commentary on the future of this great nation! 🙁

The Tea Party Movement will likely destroy itself from within, as it is hard to imagine a majority of voters tolerating such nut cakes as Rand Paul and Sharron Angle!

Nevada Primary Results A Boost For Harry Reid!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada is often underrated and misjudged, both by his party members, and also by the GOP opposition!

Not a great speaker, not particularly photogenic, and not a dominating personality, Reid actually has managed to organize and control his 59 member Democratic majority with lots of work behind the scenes, and has handled right wing attacks in a very effective, if quiet fashion!

Reid has done a lot for Nevada, and it would be silly and ridiculous for Nevada to defeat such a powerful leader who gives the state distinction! So despite all the talk that Reid is “prime meat” for defeat, don’t bet on it, particularly by the results of the GOP primary for the Senate yesterday!

Sharron Angle, the most right wing candidate of the three candidates, managed to come from behind and defeat Sue Lowden, who had suggested that people could pay their doctors with chickens, as in the olden times, apparently, in Nevada!

Lowden came across as loony enough, but, believe it or not, Sharron Angle comes across by her viewpoints and statements to be even MORE whacky a nominee! Being backed by the Tea Party Movement only makes her more nutty than otherwise, and it is said that Harry Reid is thrilled at her nomination, as he thinks, rightfully it is believed, that he has an easier road to reelection!

Reid may not be charismatic or great looking, but the GOP has made it more likely than ever that he will be reelected, and stay on as Senate Majority Leader in the next two years!
