The Plot To Privatize The Department Of Veterans Affairs, And The Firing Of Secretary David Shulkin, Just A Beginning To Privatize Much Of Federal Government

It is clear that Donald Trump, and his right wing friends, billionaires Charles and David Koch, and other right wing extremists, are out to destroy the Federal government involvement in just about every government agency other than the original cabinet agencies created in 1789–State, Treasury, (War)Defense, and Justice.

So the firing of Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin is clearly a move to make Veterans Affairs privatized, which is a horrible idea, as taking care of our veterans should not be based on the profit motive. There is also a plan to privatize Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Education, the Post Office, and other government agencies.

Those who care about a responsive national government being protected must understand that “war” has been declared by the extremists on the right, who do not give a damn about the lives of 325 million Americans, only downgrading federal government as it has operated since the beginning of the 20th century and President Theodore Roosevelt.

Regulation and intervention has advanced America, but the big corporations and the elite wealthy want to reverse, and destroy, all progress for average Americans to make our nation more humane and responsive.

This is the time for liberals, progressives, and Democrats to work to deny the success of this plot, so every caring American must work to get rid of the Republican majority in Congress, so that the fight against the evil of the Trump Presidency can move forward.

Long Overdue: Veterans With PTSD To Be Covered For Disability Benefits!

The Veterans Affairs Department under President Obama is finally doing justice to veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan War, as well as those who served in Vietnam, who have developed PTSD–Post Traumatic Stress Disorder–as a result of their military service, whether directly in combat, or just the victim of stress conditions that have led to emotional and mental scars, not as easily recognizable as physical injuries!

Those who serve our country in the military have been shabbily treated in the past for mental and emotional disorders, and the effects of various chemicals used in warfare! Now, these people will be able to get benefits, including monetary compensation on a monthly basis plus health care! The trauma these troops go through is something possibly hard to understand for those of us who have been fortunate enough never to be in a war zone!

This is a real victory not only for the military, but also for recognition that mental illness is as much a problem as the more obvious physical illnesses!

The cost will be very high, but if we are able to find the money to send troops to war and endanger their lives, then we must fund care for them when they come home, and not just short term, but for a lifetime, if necessary!

President Obama is to be applauded for making this major reform come about, and it adds to his record of major accomplishments over the first 18 months of his Presidency! 🙂

Bill O’Reilly And The Big Lie Technique

Bill O’Reilly of Fox News Channel is a promoter, just like others on Fox News Channel and conservative talk radio, of the Big Lie Technique, utilized many years ago by Adolf Hitler–the idea that if you tell a lie enough times, then people will believe it.

O’Reilly has been caught in an obvious use of the Big Lie on a recent show with guest, liberal talk show host Ed Schultz of MSNBC.

The issue was the report from the Veterans Affairs Department that there are about 131,000 homeless veterans at the present time, and over a year, 260,000 veterans are homeless at some point of time.

O’Reilly stated that he does not believe that even one veteran is homeless, and he refuses to believe otherwise. Schultz contested this with him, but O’Reilly just dismissed this, and refuses, at least till now, to retract his statement.

This is, of course, nothing new, and it is what is poisoning American politics, that conservatives on radio and television and cable stop at nothing to spread lies and propaganda, and to promote conflict and hate, and sow division and chaos among uninformed and ignorant people who have their opinions, but have no truth or facts to back up their viewpoints.

Bill O’Reilly should be condemned for contributing to this Big Lie tactic, but of course, he is so smug, cocky, and egotistical, and why not? He is laughing all the way to the bank, enriching himself on misleading the American people who choose to listen to and believe his drivel! 🙁

The Scandal About Veterans As Veterans Day Approaches: Homelessness!

A new report reveals that, on the average on any given day, 131,000 veterans are homeless, and over a year, double that number are homeless at any point of time.

This information was revealed by the Veterans Affairs Department and Senator Bob Menendez, Democrat of New Jersey.

This news just adds to the traditional view that we have dedicated men and women who offer their service, and often their lives, to their country’s security, and yet, our country has been remiss in its treatment of our soldiers when they return wounded physically or mentally, and when they have trouble finding work, and when they need our help as thanks for their service.

It is so much easier to send troops to war than take responsibility for them after they have done their service! This is a national scandal, and it is time to change the way government deals with our heroes.

The fact that the Obama Administration has brought attention to this crisis is an encouraging sign that we may finally have a Presidency dedicated to real commitment to those people who keep us safe and secure from harm!
