Michele Bachmann: Mentally Unfit And Mentally Unstable To Be President!

Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann may be surging in the polls, as compared to all other GOP Presidential candidates, but she has proved herself mentally unfit, as well as mentally unstable, to be President of the United States!

With her reckless use of myths and falsehoods and invocation of God telling her what to do in her life and career, she has demonstrated that she is loony and nutty enough to be a danger in the Oval Office, with the power and authority to unleash nuclear weapons!

With her insensitivity and narrow mindedness toward those she portrays as having the wrong views about social issues such as abortion, gay marriage, racial relations, and immigration reform, she has disqualified herself from being able to unite the country around a common unity!

A President Bachmann would cause even further division and turmoil than we have right now, and would lead us to a right wing fascist mentality toward those who don’t agree with the narrow view of evangelical Christianity that separates “them” from “us”!

Also, the pushing of ABC News correspondent Brian Ross by aides of Bachmann, when Ross tried to purse an answer to a question, is totally unacceptable behavior, and reminds one of Huey Long “goons” during the early to mid 1930s in Louisiana! The nation will not tolerate a President who permits such mishandling of media as Bachmann seems to have no problem accepting!

Finally, the issue that Brian Ross was trying to bring up is crucial as well: the confirmed report that Bachmann has suffered for 15 years from migraine headaches that are extremely intense and required medical treatment many times, with indications, denied by Bachmann, but confirmed, that these migraines incapacitated her for periods of time and required lots and all kinds of pills! To top it off, Bachmann claims the migraines are caused by high heels, even though there is no correlation ever noted by any medical doctor between high heels and migraines!

Sounds as if Bachmann is at it again, with loony and nutty explanations, that just add to the image that she is, more than ever, mentally unfit and mentally unstable to be Commander in Chief!

Louisiana Senator David Vitter, Backing The “Birthers”: A Cover For His Scandals! :(

Louisiana Republican Senator David Vitter is running for reelection, and faces a competitive race against a moderate Democrat, Congressman Charlie Melancon.

Vitter has plenty of “skeletons in his closet”, having been implicated in a scandal involving a “Madam” that he was a regular client of over a period of years, and the fact that one of his congressional aides was involved with death threats and assault on a woman, and yet he worked for Vitter for another two years until his recent resignation! 🙁

So to cover up these stories, or take attention off them, Vitter has now distinguished himself by legitimizing the “Birther” wingnuts who claim that Barack Obama was not born in the United States, but rather in Kenya, despite the Hawaii state government under Republican Governor Linda Lingle asserting that such charges are false, and publishing on line the birth certificate of the President!

For that alone, plus the scandals he has been involved in, the people of Louisiana should retire Vitter and put a decent Congressman, who has been tormented by the oil spill’s effect on his state, Charlie Melancon , into the US Senate for the next six years!

Time For Banning Off Shore Oil Drilling Permanently!

If the recent disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, with the leak from the British Petroleum oil rig, leading to what will probably be the greatest environmental disaster in American history, is not enough information to tell us that off shore oil drilling around our coast lines must be banned, then nothing will! 🙁

It is time that senators such as Mary Landrieu of Louisiana stop catering to oil companies, and start representing the many struggling poor and middle class people of her state, many of whom will be impacted by the environmental disaster now taking place!

This is the moment finally to start promoting wind power and solar power and other alternative sources of energy, and get away from the pollution caused by both oil and coal!

This is the opportunity,  when the “iron is hot”, to promote the permanent banning of off shore oil drilling, while the Democrats have the opportunity to push the issue, which should be a winning issue with the American people, particularly in the crisis atmosphere now existing!

Jimmy Carter, much maligned in many ways, still stands out as the courageous President who was willing, over 30 years ago, to push the idea of alternative sources of energy,and it is time we started to listen and follow his lead on this issue! In the long run, it will make us finally NOT dependent on foreign oil, which affects our national security in a threatening way!

New Attention On Louisiana Senate Race This Year: The Landrieu Family Dynasty

With the victory of Mitch Landrieu as Mayor Of New Orleans yesterday, new attention is being paid to the reelection campaign of Senator Mary Landrieu, his sister.

Their father, Moon Landrieu, was the last white mayor of New Orleans, leaving office in 1978. The fact that his son was able to win over a large portion of the African American population in the city, after 32 years of African American mayors, shows the dominance of this family, which could be called a dynasty, just behind the famous Longs–Huey, Earl and Russell, which influenced Louisiana politics for nearly fifty years.

Mary Landrieu is in a tough race for re-election to a third term, and has been seen as very moderate in her approach to issues, including health care reform, where she has been a critic of the Obama Administration, and has driven a hard bargain to gain advantages for her state in exchange for her vote.

It could be, however, that her brother’s victory is a sign that this race will be one of the most watched by both Republicans and Democrats this fall. And don’t give up on Mary Landrieu winning, as she is a tough politician who knows how to maximize her family’s advantages!

Mixed Race Couples And A Louisiana Judge: Is This 2009 Or Fifty Years Ago?

It is hard to believe that a Justice of the Peace in Southeastern Louisiana refused this past week to perform a marriage ceremony for a mixed race couple, a white female and an African American male.

Are we back in the years before the civil rights movement? Is this refusal another commentary on the fact that our President was the product of a mixed race couple?

Is this another sign of the Old South continuing to rear its ugly head, one of not just anti black, but also anti Jewish, anti Catholic, anti immigrant discrimination?

One has to wonder why this issue has arisen now, when interracial marriages were declared constitutional by the Supreme Court in 1967.

Thank goodness for one fact: No one in today’s political climate is going to remain silent and cover the reputation of a racist bigot. At least, such vermin are fully exposed, but it is a sad day that in the year 2009, we can have such a demonstration of racism and bigotry by an elected official, a part of the court system.

What is necessary now is prompt, swift action to remove this disgrace of a judge from public office! Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu has called for his removal, but we have not yet heard from Republican Senator David Vitter. Hmm, one wonders why?
