“ProLifers” And “Election Deniers” Fail Miserably In Midterm Elections 2022

“Prolifers” and “Election Deniers” failed miserably in the 2022 Midterm Elections.

Most candidates for State Attorney General and Secretaries of State lost, and it looks like Kari Lake will lose the Arizona Governorship, as already has occurred to Tudor Dixon in Michigan and Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania!

Sadly, some of these lunatics did win House seats or were reelected, but in a body of 435 members, that can be expected.

Clearly, however, the results of the Midterm Elections of 2022 are a victory for Democrats and Joe Biden, in comparison to past midterms for Democratic Presidents, going back many decades!

And young people and women came out in droves on the issue of abortion rights, and five states, including of all places, Kentucky, insured abortion rights would be part of their state constitutions!

So the predicted “Red Wave or Tsnuami” ended up as a “Red Ripple”, or as one humorist suggested, a “Ketchup Smear”!

Loss Of Some Outstanding Democrats In Midterm Elections

Considering the strong likelihood that Democrats could have been swamped and suffered major losses in the Midterm Elections of 2022, we must be happy, overall, at the results.

But there is a loss of some very talented and decent Democrats, who were unable to overcome their opponents.

This includes the following gubernatorial candidates:

Charlie Crist in Florida
Stacey Abrams in Georgia
Nan Whaley in Ohio
Beto O’Rourke in Texas

This includes the following Senatorial nominees:

Val Demings in Florida
Michael Franken in Iowa
Charles Booker in Kentucky
Cheri Beasley in North Carolina
Tim Ryan in Ohio
Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin

Also, in House races, incumbents won, except for a few who lost, including

Sean Patrick Maloney in New York
Elaine Luria in Virginia (a member of the January 6 House Committee)

Democratic State Governors To Watch, As Future Of Party!

Any concern about the future of the Democratic Party is gone, as once Joe Biden has become President for a second term, or decides not to run, opening up potential for other Democrats, the party has a “bench” of fantastic governors who care about public health and safety, and who are compassionate and empathetic human beings.

This is in reference to the following Democratic state governors, no special order:

Gavin Newsom of California
J B. Pritzker of Illinois
Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania
Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan
Wes Moore of Maryland
Jared Polis of Colorado
Laura Kelly of Kansas

At least the first five listed are potential Presidential contenders in the future, and with Pritzker and Shapiro being Jewish; Whitmer (along with Kelly) being female; Moore being African American; Polis being gay; and Newsom being an original promoter of gay rights and gay marriage.

At the same time, the Republicans have potential Presidential contenders, who are more concerned about being nasty, vicious, divisive, confrontational, and have no concern about public health and safety, including:

Ron DeSantis of Florida
Greg Abbott of Texas
Kristi Noem of South Dakota

There is also Chris Sununu of New Hampshire (an exception, not as extreme and confrontational as the other three listed).

Of course, there are also soon to be former governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas; and former governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, who are more like Chris Sununu.

Additionally, soon to be former governors Larry Hogan of Maryland and Charlie Baker of Massachusetts come across as more decent, but like Hutchinson and Christie, unlikely to get very far in the Presidential race for 2024!

Donald Trump, Election Deniers, Dobbs Decision Are Losers In Midterm Election!

Not all election results are in this quickly, but it is clear that the Republican Party has NOT had a “Red Wave”, and at most, might have a “Pink Splash”, as it now seems that while they may control the House of Representatives, it will be a razor thin margin!

Also, the Senate may end up 50-50 again, or with John Fetterman’s victory in Pennsylvania, might end up with a 51-49 Democratic controlled Senate.

Clearly, Donald Trump was a loser in this election, with many of his choices losing, although not all, and “Election Deniers” losing in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania at the least, with Arizona still up in the air!

The Dobbs decision against abortion rights also was a loser in many states, and the chances of a national abortion ban is no longer possible.

So overall, on first examination, Joe Biden and the Democratic Party managed to do better than any party in the White House in a midterm election could have imagined!

Projections On Midterm Elections Of 2022

Here we are, a day before the Midterm Elections of 2022, so it is time to project the results, with trepidation about what is likely to happen tomorrow.

The odds are heavily in favor of the Republicans winning the House of Representatives, since they only need to gain five seats, so sadly, my projection is that they will gain about 20 seats, giving them an edge of about 15 seats–so a balance of about 232-203.

The Senate will remain Democratic in my estimate, with the following results:

Retention of presently held Democratic seats:

Mark Kelly, Arizona
Raphael Warnock, Georgia
Maggie Hassan, New Hampshire

However, the loss of Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada!

Open Seats Gained by Democrats:

Tim Ryan, Ohio
John Fetterman, Pennsylvania
Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin

The end result would be 52 Democrats and Independents and 48 Republicans!

In the Governorships, Democrats gain seats:

Wes Moore, Maryland
Maura Healey, Massachusetts
Beto O’Rourke, Texas

So we would end up with 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans as Governors of their states.

So the elections will be a mixed bag, with both Democrats and Republicans able to claim vindication.

Sadly, however, Florida will remain strongly Republican both for the US Senate and the Governorship.

The Midterm Elections of 2022 will be seen as a “Red Ripple”, with less of a repudiation of Joe Biden than it was for earlier Presidents who saw much greater losses!

Potential For Four New African American Senators

There have been 11 African American Senators in the 234 years of US Senate history.

Presently, there are three—Republican Tim Scott of South Carolina; and Democrats Cory Booker of New Jersey and Raphael Warnock of Georgia.

Prominent earlier African American Senators included Democrats Carol Moseley Braun and Barack Obama of Illinois; Democrat Kamala Harris of California; and Republican Edward Brooke of Massachusetts.

Now, there is the possibility of four additional African American Senators, if fortune works out.

They include: Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin; Cheri Beasley in North Carolina; Charles Booker in Kentucky; and Val Demings of Florida.

Barnes is competing against Ron Johnson in Wisconsin; Beasley againast Ted Budd in North Carolina; Booker against Rand Paul in Kentucky; and Demings against Marco Rubio in Florida.

All of these races are tight in polls, except Booker against Paul in Kentucky, where Booker is at a major disadvantage.

Also, Warnock is in a tight race against Republican Herschel Walker in Georgia, with both being African Americans.

Democrat Tim Ryan Deserves To Be Elected As Ohio Senator

Ohio has an opportunity to elect a Congressman who has made a distinguished record in the House of Representatives for the past 20 years to be its new US Senator.

Tim Ryan is clearly a person of distinction and principle, who would join Democrat Sherrod Brown in the Senate, and replace Republican Senator Rob Portman, one of the small number of Republican leaders who performed in a reputable fashion in his years in the upper body of Congress.

Ohio deserves to have two principled Democrats who care about the state and the nation, not about pleasing Fascist demagogue Donald Trump, as Republican Senate nominee J D Vance does (after having denounced Trump in 2016). Vance also is an “Election Denier”, regarding the Presidential Election of 2020, so cannot be trusted with power in the Senate!

Maryland On The Way To Electing The Third African American Governor, Wes Moore!

In the midst of an election year where there is some fear and trepidation for the Democratic Party, the state of Maryland is a complete alternative.

Maryland is on the way to electing the third African American governor in American history, Wes Moore, who is far ahead of his Republican opponent, Dan Cox.

Moore defeated former Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez for the nomination, a surprise to many observers.

Only Douglas Wilder in Virginia in 1989 and Deval Patrick in Massachusetts in 2006 have succeeded as African American gubernatorial candidates before Wes Moore.

Wes Moore has had an interesting career, with military service for eight years in the US Army, including service in Afghanistan and the 82nd Airborne Division, and graduated from Johns Hopkins University, and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford.

Moore worked in several government positions; became an investment banker; founded a television production company; and then was CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation, a charitable organization to help alleviate problems caused by poverty in New York City. He is the author of several books, and is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party.

Some observers think he is someone to watch for national office at some point in the future.

Violent Attack On Speaker Pelosi’s Husband Just Tip Of The Iceberg, Incited By Donald Trump!

The violent attack on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, home alone at their San Francisco home, is shocking, but just the tip of the iceberg, as it is just one of many threats against members of Congress and their families.

It is clear that this incident was an assassination threat against Pelosi, had she been present.

Most of the threats are against Democrats, and are promoted by MAGA domestic terrorists backed by Donald Trump.

Notice that Trump has NOT expressed his sympathies and denounced this attack, and by having no comment, is endorsing the violence!

Some Republican leaders have spoken up, but many have encouraged such attacks, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebet, Matt Gaetz and others!

There is a need for protection of the homes and close family members of top leadership, as one must realize that the Speaker of the House is second in line for the Presidency.

So this incident represents a second attempt of Trump and his supporters to threaten the life of Nancy Pelosi, after the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol, where Trump remained silent, as the threat against Pelosi and Vice President Mike Pence, first in line of succession, occurred.

Donald Trump needs to be held accountable for these threats, a situation that has never occurred before for the top leaders in the Presidential succession!

The threats against President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are a great concern, and if Republican Kevin McCarthy becomes Speaker of the House in 2023, and Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley become President Pro Tempore of the Senate, there will be a need for increased security for these leaders who would be next in line for the Presidency in case of a tragedy!

Three Crucial Gubernatorial Elections Of Women In Upcoming Midterm Elections!

There are three crucial gubernatorial elections coming up in 11 days, that involve Democratic women who can prevent extreme right wing Republican attempts to interfere with electoral vote count in the Presidential Election of 2024.

They are incumbent governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, facing a right wing lunatic, Tudor Dixon; Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs running for Governor against another right wing lunatic, Kari Lake; and Georgia gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams, running against her 2018 opponent Brian Kemp.

It is urgent and essential that all three win the Governorship, but they are not the only significant gubernatorial races, far from it!
