Domestic Violence

Six Months Since January 6 US Capitol Insurrection

It has been six months since the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection.

Over 500 seditionists and traitors to the US Constitution have been arrested for the domestic violence, bloodshed, and destruction they perpetrated on the cradle of American democracy, and they need the full effect of law enforcement to be brought upon them.

The investigation of what happened that day is moving ahead whether or not Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell and the Republican Congressional members want it to procede.

Those members of Congress or their staffs who collaborated in the events of that day need to be prosecuted and expelled from Congress.

White supremacy must be eliminated from the halls of Congress, and Donald Trump needs to be indicted for insurrection, treason, and sedition, and be shown in handcuffs, and sentenced to federal prison, as in the same disgraced company of such traitors as Benedict Arnold, Aaron Burr, Jefferson Davis and others in the American past!

A salute to Republicans Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois for being supportive of the January 6 House Committee creation, and Cheney’s accepting membership offered by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi!

Enhanced defense and readiness for the US Capitol is essential, due to the right wing threats of more violence, due to the QAnon promotion of the crazy idea of Donald Trump returning to the Presidency in August.

And greater protection is required of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, their families, and the same for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and other Democratic and Republican members of Congress who have expressed loyalty to the Constitution and rule of law!

Right Wing Hysteria Over Ebola An Outrage, As Republicans And Conservatives Ignore Much Greater Causes Of Death!

The right wing in America has no limits in its outrages, and now have used the Ebola Crisis to promote hysteria and panic, and of course, blame it all on Barack Obama.

Some lunatics are saying that Obama has caused this problem, and that he wishes to declare martial law and suspend the Presidential Election of 2016 and stay on beyond January 20, 2017, a totally preposterous and whacko idea, which they know is a total lie!

And while Republicans and conservatives rail about Ebola, they have no concern about the much larger threat to life by murders and injuries by firearms; the reality of automobile accidents as a major cause of death, including drunken drivers; the great loss of life from flu and pneumonia; and the ever present danger of domestic violence; along with other causes of death, such as bee stings, drowning, lightning, fireworks, and dog attacks, among others.

There is not an issue or problem that the right wing does not use as an excuse to do harm to our President and the entire government structure, and many wish for the removal of Obama by violence and overthrow, which should be enough for the Secret Service to arrest and imprison critics who go beyond the pale, and threaten our whole constitutional system of government!

The Republican Party Claims To Be “Pro Life”, But The Truth Is Otherwise!

The Republican Party claims to be “Pro Life”, but is far from being so, when one investigates the reality, instead of the rhetoric!

Republicans have, by their policies and attitudes, done more to kill the unborn than anything that Democrats have done!

The widespread availability of guns and resulting gun violence kills many pregnant women and their fetuses. But in addition to that, new born babies, toddlers, school children, and junior and senior high school children are killed by guns, and not only by homicide, but via suicide and accidental deaths as well!

War has also caused mass death of pregnant woman, fetuses, new borns and children, just not in America, but caused by American military policies. But this does not upset “Pro Life” advocates!

Lack of adequate health care to mothers and expectant mothers undermines fetuses and newborns, but Republicans do not wish to adequately fund and provide health care to poor women, which means the lives of these women, and their fetuses and children do not matter, despite assertions to the contrary!

Domestic violence against women, both pregnant and those already mothers, and against children, is widespread, but yet Republicans voted against renewal of the Violence Against Women Act!

The reality of toxins in the air, water, and food , and lack of concern for the government to protect against this by having environmental protection laws, is another way that the Republican Party shows lack of concern for life!

Lack of support of nutrition programs, and desire to cut Food Stamps, is another example of lack of concern by Republicans of the health of children and their mothers, and their fetuses and new born children!

Also, by opposing equal pay for women, and being against food and housing assistance for poor families, it leads to an undermining of women and their pregnancies, and also, their already born children. This all leads to still born children, miscarriages, and premature infant death! Poor women have greater stress, and fewer opportunities for prenatal health care and time for rest during a pregnancy because of need to work!

So the GOP spreads propaganda, but will not take action to help women, their fetuses, and their newborn and older children, and this reality is reprehensible!

August 6th: The Ultimate Violence Remembered, As We See More Domestic Violence With Guns Than Even September 11 Represents!

Today, August 6th, is the day that Hiroshima, Japan was attacked by the first atomic bomb unleased by the United States, to end the Second World War, followed by a second atomic bomb on August 9 on Nagasaki, Japan.

It is important to commemorate this event 67 years ago, two thirds of a century ago, without criticizing what President Harry Truman did, as in wartime one must do many things that may be seen as objectionable, but necessary to end the conflict. Certainly, many American lives, British and other allied lives, and even Japanese lives were saved. But we should still acknowledge the loss of life, no matter what.

But today is also a day to reflect on domestic violence caused by lack of any real regulation of guns in American society. We are reminded of this just weeks after the Aurora, Colorado movie theatre massacre, with the killing of six members of a Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Sunday by a neo Nazi named Wade Michael Page, who had served in the military, and also engaged in the subspecialty in music known as Hate Rock, a genre that exploits and glorifies violence against any ethnic or religious minority that does not fit the description of white supremacy.

When one realized that it is expected, by statistics, that 48,000 Americans will be killed by guns in the next Presidential term, as compared to the approximate 3,000 killed on September 11 in New York City, Washington, DC and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, how can one react other than in mourning and disbelief?

We have an insidious disease in America–gun worship–which is causing the death in four years of nearly the entire loss in the Vietnam War, more than the Korean War, more than the Spanish American War, more than the Mexican War, more than the War of 1812, more than the American Revolution, and of course, more than the losses in the Iraq War or the Afghanistan War!

Somehow, something must be done to stop the blood letting in America, and to justify it on “the right to bear arms”!

Republicans Claim To Be Pro Women’s Rights: Really?

The Republican Party leadership in Congress loves to claim that the Democrats are wrong in calling them anti women, and campaigning against women.

But the facts belie Republican claims as shown as follows:

Both in Washington DC and in the states, Republican leadership is attacking women’s rights, women’s health, and women’s safety.

The House of Representatives passed a bill weakening the Violence Against Women Act two weeks ago.

Virginia passed legislation requiring women undergoing an abortion to undergo medically unnecessary and physically invasive sonograms.

Senate Republicans are blocking a measure to deal with wage discrimination against women.

On abortion, seven states have made it more difficult to get an abortion, by making the deadline for getting one much earlier, before knowledge of fetal abnormalities or health risks are available, Criminal penalties are also set up to intimidate doctors from performing abortions, making it more difficult to stay in business, and endangering the lives of women who often cannot gain an abortion even at the risk of their own lives.

Planned Parenthood has been systematically attacked, with funds cut for basic health care services for the poor, on the argument that the main activity of the group is abortion, when it is only about 3 percent of the funding of the organization, and is not its primary role in promoting women’s health.

The 1963 Equal Pay Act under President Kennedy is being fought bitterly, with the attempt to update the law to help women gain equality in pay for equal work being opposed by Republicans, and states such as Wisconsin are going backward on women’s rights to equal pay.

Domestic violence legislation is being fought by Republicans, who do not wish to include lesbians, native American women, and undocumented immigrant women who are in danger, and can no longer report abuse to law enforcement authorities, to go after the abusers.

How can anyone say that the GOP is NOT declaring “war” on women? One is judged by one’s actions, not words!

Health Insurance Company Abuse Supported By Several States Regarding “Domestic Violence”

As part of the health care reform being considered by Congress, the push is on to ban “domestic violence” against women as a “preexisting condition” that prevents battered women from being eligible to be covered.

Is there anything more venal and disgusting than this? And to think that several states still allow that to be a factor in limiting health care coverage! The guilty states, which should be ashamed of themselves, include Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho, plus, unbelievably, the District of Columbia! How in the world can any state or jurisdiction allow this? How can we, in good conscience, allow in the past, present or future that any health insurance company is permitted to justify this in the name of decency?

This is another reason why, despite great fears by many people and most conservatives and Republicans, that we cannot continue to allow health care to be totally controlled by private corporations and backward states that have no concern for human dignity!

The federal government option MUST be offered so that everyone in this country is allowed to have dignity when it comes to health care!
