Sarah Palin Strikes Out In Presidential Level Poll

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin may be about to earn up to $5 million on her memoirs, due out tomorrow.

But she strikes out when it comes to presidential stature, in a new CNN poll, in which only 28 percent see her as Presidential material.

This compares to Mitt Romney with 47 percent and Mike Huckabee with 43 percent.

So Sarah has her fans, but it does not translate to support for a Presidential candidacy, because compared to these two rivals and others not mentioned, she lacks experience and legitimacy to be President.

She may be nice to have as a neighbor, but that does not make her qualified to run the nation. Many believe in both parties that were she to be nominated, it would be a disaster for the Republican party on the level of the Barry Goldwater candidacy in 1964.

The Republican Odds After The Off Year Elections

Many Republicans have been tooting their own horns over the gubernatorial victories of their party in Virginia and New Jersey.

But as a new poll shows, winning Virginia and New Jersey is far from winning the Presidency.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee leads a new poll over his potential GOP rivals, with Mitt Romney second, Sarah Palin third, Newt Gingrich fourth, Tim Pawlenty fifth, and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour in last place.

Huckabee seems to have an advantage because of his FOX News show where he comes across in a very pleasant, folksy manner.

But still only four out of ten voters plan at this point to support either Huckabee or Romney, while about a third would back Palin, 29 percent would be behind Gingrich, and less than one out of five behind Pawlenty or Barbour.

So the Republicans have a lot of work to convince the American voter to support a party which has no original ideas on anything, and spends its time being negative, and going out of its way to alienate moderates and independents and court the support of Tea Party and Freedom/Works extremists who stormed Capitol Hill yesterday and came across as hateful, racist, anti semitic, and extremist in rhetoric.

Mike Huckabee The Winner In Straw Poll at Values Voters Summit

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is the winner of the straw poll taken at the Values Voter Summit in Washington DC taking place this weekend.

With 29 percent of the vote, he beat out four other candidates who each had about 12 percent of the vote–Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Sarah Palin, and Mike Pence. The other four candidates–Newt Gingrich, Bobby Jindal, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum–received single digits in the poll.

While this is a nice moment for Huckabee, it is clear that it is no bellweather as to what will happen at the GOP National Convention in 2012. The race for the White House has barely begun!

The Values Voters Summit In Washington, DC

This weekend, we are seeing the Values Voters Summit in Washington, DC, a followup on the FreedomWorks/Tea Party protests of last weekend.

This group of social conservatives has welcomed various presidential possibilities to speak before their organization, but only four have done so–Tim Pawlenty, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Mike Pence. Each, of course, is trying to outdo the other in appealing to this group, which is having discussions on such issues as: The Global Warming Hysteria; The Pro Death Agenda; Rationing Your Life Away with Obamacare; and Fighting the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy.

It is hard to read this list of areas of discussion without guffawing like a hyena LOL 🙂 Does this group really believe that it is to be regarded as anything more than a group of right wing whackos with such titles and topics being employed, and no hint of any solutions to the many problems this nation faces?

The most interesting thing to come out of this series of meetings will be the straw poll of who is favored by this group, with the choices being the four mentioned above, plus Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, and Bobby Jindal.

As one looks at this group of contenders, all nine of them, it is hard to avoid big smiles and knowing looks, that ALL of them, with again the exception of Romney, would seem to the observer to have not a chance of seriously challenging President Obama in 2012. That does not mean that Romney does not have major weaknesses, but none of the others would seem to have any strength or backing that could possibly make them competitive.

Then again, however, it could be, as many are starting to observe, that the GOP nominee for 2012 might very well not come from this group, and may be someone that nobody has been taking seriously yet or even thought of up to this point. After all, at this stage in September 2005, who was thinking about Barack Obama?

So, as always, American politics is a stimulating and exciting sport, with the impossibility this far ahead of imagining what the final game in 2012 will be like!

Mike Huckabee Becomes The Male Sarah Palin

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is in a near dead heat in polling for the GOP 2012 Presidential nomination with Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney, has apparently decided that he must out Palin Palin!

On his Fox News show, he asserts that if the health care bill passed, and were Ted Kennedy still alive, he would be sent home to die and would not be given proper health care.

Will Huckabee’s adoption of Sarah Palin’s “Death Panels” concept, which has caused so much grief and hysteria despite the fact it has no basis, advance him in the Presidential race?

Let’s just say IF it does, the Republican Party will be committing suicide whether or not the health care plan is passed into law.

This move by Huckabee only makes Mitt Romney look more rational and reasonable, faced with two opponents who have to be seen as demagogues for exploiting the issue of health care for their own selfish reasons, rather than providing a real answer to this massive problem the country faces.
