Quinnipiac Poll On Republican Presidential Race Puts Sarah Palin Ahead!

A new Quinnipiac poll on the Republican Presidential race puts former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin ahead of four male opponents!

Palin leads with 19 percent, with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 18 percent, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee at 17 percent, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich of Georgia at 16 percent, and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty at 6 percent!

Palin has been on Fox News Channel; on the Learning Channel with her reality series “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”; and her daughter Bristol on Dancing With The Stars where she is one of three finalists in the season finale this week!

But being ahead is really a “death wish”, as invariably being ahead in the polls after the midterm election is a sign that leads to defeat for the nomination 18 months later! This has happened on a regular basis going back many election cycles!

What is most interesting about the top five in the race is that only Tim Pawlenty is a new face, as all the others are retreads from the past campaign, except Gingrich, who has not been seriously in elective politics for twelve years, and instead has been making a living by being a political commentator and author!

So don’t count on Sarah Palin making it all the way to the nomination, although her opponents do see her as a threat, and the attacks will come thick and fast as these different candidates announce their bids in the next few months to be the GOP nominee for President in 2012!

The Potential Candidacy Of Sarah Palin: Ignorance And Mediocrity Personified! :(

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has told Barbara Walters that she is seriously considering a Presidential run! 🙁

Sarah Palin is seriously delusional to believe she has the talents, abilities, knowledge, and insights required to be a President in the 21st century! 🙁

It might have been alright to have mediocrity in the White House in the 19th century, and even the early 20th century, but since the time of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the years of the Great Depression, and the constantly complex world we live in since World War II and the Cold War, it is no longer conceivable to have a President who is not only mediocre, but ignorant!

Sarah Palin does not have a clue as to the complexities of the modern world! She knows absolutely nothing about foreign affairs or domestic affairs! She is a very ordinary, mediocre, ignorant American, which is fine, as everyone cannot be intelligent, educated, and knowledgeable!

It is perfectly alright to be an average American or average human being, but the Presidency demands much more than that!

Would we want just anyone to be a surgeon, an attorney, a college professor, an engineer, an accountant, or a dentist? The answer is NO, as we want the best in these professions!

Well, being President of the United States also requires that we get the best, at least someone who is educated, intelligent, and knows or has the interest in knowing what candidates for the Presidency need to be aware of–public affairs, economics, foreign policy–and has compassion for the less fortunate among us, not only those who have power and wealth, often by ill gotten methods!

It is not just the so called “liberal elite” who think that Sarah Palin’s potential candidacy for President is a mockery!

It includes Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, who pointed out that Palin has no great interest in governing, as she quit the Governorship of Alaska after only a little more than half her term, and also lacks intellectual curiosity!

It also includes former Bush adviser Karl Rove, who said hosting a Learning Channel reality series does not make people think that Sarah is qualified for President!

Former First Lady Barbara Bush told Larry King this weekend that Sarah Palin is a beautiful lady who likes living in Alaska, and should stay there! 🙂

Sarah’s potential opponents have remained silent in public, but it is clear that they are appalled at her thought of running, as they know she will be a difficult candidate to handle, being backed by the ignorant masses that love the Tea Party movement! They see her as a danger to the Republican Party future, and as a total disaster were she to run against Barack Obama! But they also recognize it will be hard to campaign against her in the primaries and caucuses, and that she could win the Iowa caucuses and South Carolina primary in 2012, and therefore have “momentum”, making her hard to stop!

There is no doubt that Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, Haley Barbour, and all other potential nominees see her as a “nightmare”, but realize she is an imposing presence that they will have to, somehow, deal with if she decides to run!

The point is that all of the potential candidates, no matter how objectionable they might be to many observers, all have credentials, experience and intelligence to be potential Presidents of the United States!

Sarah Palin does NOT have these credentials, and she would do a lot of good for the country if she were to realize that she is hallucinating, as she is NOT qualified to be President of the United States. and her triumph would be a serious blow to American prestige and security in the world, and a sign that the American nation has been “dumbed down” to the most common denominator–the ignorant masses who pride themselves on NOT knowing public affairs, and have no clue as to what is good for this nation’s future! 🙁

The Coming Class Warfare Battle In The Republican Party! Romney vs. Palin!

As we are about to witness the midterm elections of 2010, the future of the Republican party is becoming quite evident!

The battle for the Presidential nomination is likely to be a struggle between more educated, less religiously devout Republicans and those who are poorly educated, much more religiously devout, and are attracted to the Tea Party Movement emphasis on anger and bitterness toward government!

The leader of the first group is likely to be former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who is supported 2-1 by college graduates and 3-1 by those with more than one college degree, according to a Gallup poll.

The leader favored by the group of people without college degrees is former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who has worked very hard to attract these voters who are angry and bitter about government, and are drawn to the anarchy and ignorance which the Tea Party Movement and Sarah Palin represents!

And the fact that Romney is a Mormon, a religion which many evangelical Christians consider not to be Christian, will be a major barrier for him in 2012, and will benefit both Sarah Palin and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is an ordained Baptist preacher!

So it may very well be a class warfare struggle facing the GOP over the next two years, which will be to the benefit of President Obama for the 2012 Presidential campaign!

Potential For Civil War In Republican Party After Midterm Elections!

The Tea Party Movement battle to influence and take over the Republican Party nationally may lead to civil war in the GOP after the midterm elections, if Tea Party supported candidates lose Senate and House races to Democrats!

Republican leaders are tending to be very cocky about the chances of taking over both the House of Representatives and Senate in the next Congress, but the Senate is particularly the place that could become a real battleground for control of the future of the party, and it could affect the national party and the Presidential battle for 2012!

Candidates such as Ken Buck of Colorado, Sharron Angle of Nevada, and Christine O’Donnell in Delaware have come across as loony and out of the mainstream, and if they lose their Senate races, the Republicans could end up having gained seats, but not the majority because of these candidates backed by the Tea Party Movement!

That could lead to recriminations, and could affect the Presidential contest, as Sarah Palin, Mike Pence, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and others who have flirted with the Tea Party could cause a split in 2012, fighting against establishment Republicans and Mitt Romney, who, despite his shortcomings, still comes across as the most legitimate, rational and sane candidate that the Republicans possess for 2012!

And, as stated earlier, a revolt within the Senate GOP could cause Mitch McConnell the control of the Majority or Minority leadership in the upper chamber, in favor of “flame thrower” Jim DeMint of South Carolina!

So whether the GOP gains control of Congress or just comes close, it could have long term negative implications for the party in 2012, including control of Congress after 2012!

Gallup Poll On Republican Presidential Nomination For 2012: Romney In Front!

Here we are, a month before the midterm elections, and a Gallup Poll indicates that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is the front runner for the GOP Presidential nomination in 2012, with 19 percent, with former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin at 16 percent, and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee at 12 percent!

Further behind is former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich of Georgia with 9 percent, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul with 7 percent!

Further behind with single digits are Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, former Pennsylvania Governor Rick Santorum, South Dakota Senator John Thune, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, and Indiana Congressman Mike Pence!

It must be pointed out that being ahead in the nomination battle just before the midterm election has been the “kiss of death” in the past in both parties, so the fact that Mitt Romney is ahead cannot be seen as a clue to his likely nomination two years from now!

Romney would seem to many observers to be the best choice because of his business background and administrative experience as Massachusetts Governor, and as the head of the Salt Lake City Olympic Committee back in 2002, but it does not mean that the GOP will do the rational thing and select him!

The question is: will his Mormon faith, his earlier “liberal” image as Massachusetts Governor, his promotion of a state health care plan often compared to “Obamacare”, and the fact that he does not seem to fit well with the Tea Party Movement now influencing the Republican Party, doom his chances to be the challenger to President Obama in 2012?

If one had to bet the future, it would seem as if Mitt Romney will have trouble winning the nomination, as it is seen as unlikely that early voting states, such as the caucuses in Iowa, and the primary in South Carolina, will support him over more socially conservative candidates, as many of the other potential nominees are perceived!

Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich And The Attack On Health Care! :(

Two leading Republican contenders for the Presidential nomination have shown themselves to be disgraceful in their attacks on health care legislation, which the GOP is dedicated to repealing if they win control of Congress this November!

Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor, had the gall to compare the issue of pre-existing conditions in children now having to be covered as of tomorrow, to a property insurance company having to insure a house that has burned down! 🙁 How heartless a statement that is for a ordained Baptist preacher, who claims to be a “good” Christian! 🙁 What hypocrisy! 🙁

Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker from Georgia, has been on a tear lately with outrageous statements about President Obama, about Islam, and so many other controversies, showing he has no decency and is willing to promote hate, division, and turmoil in his mad dash for power, despite his own numerous personal moral failings! 🙁

Now he says that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius should be fired by the new Congress for advocating and promoting the new health care law! Imagine, the secretary of HHS is not supposed to advocate her department’s programs? And since when can Congress fire cabinet members of the President? Is this a sign of intention to impeach Sebelius for doing her job? This is ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE drivel being promoted by a person with no ethics, morals, or scruples at all! 🙁

Meanwhile, several health insurance companies are getting out of the market of children’s health care just two days before the health care legislation goes into effect, which demonstrates the problem of leaving all health care to private corporations who only care about profits, not about health of children or anyone who is sick! This is further evidence of the dire need for stronger health care legislation with a public option, so that the 50 million Americans without health care can gain what every American should be entitled to–coverage for health care, and the promotion of the right to a decent life!

Fox Propaganda Channel: Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee!

Fox News Channel claims to be a “news” channel, but what other “news” channel has THREE potential Presidential candidates on its payroll, giving them the ability to spread their propaganda and be given “softballs” by so called “journalists”, such as Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck? 🙁

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia, and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee all have tremendous exposure with “friendly” questioning!

Will they be able to keep their positions if they announce for President? How could they, without being accused of conflict of interest, accepting payment, and claiming to be news analysts?

One would think that even to suggest such an arrangement would be totally preposterous, but as it turns out, Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle said on camera in an interview with Carl Cameron that she wanted to have Fox allow her to know what questions were to be asked, to be able to promote raising of funds for her campaign, and to be a friendly interviewer! 🙁

Cameron, one of the very few real “journalists” on Fox, looked incredulous at the suggestions of Angle! It only made her look more crazy and loony than she has ever been before, but it made one wonder about the status, present and future, of the three potential Republican Presidential candidates !

It all just adds up to Fox being more and more a joke of a so called “news channel”, and therefore, justifiably, to be called “Fox Propaganda Channel”!

Mike Huckabee, Gay Marriage And Gay Rights

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Fox News Channel talk show host, and former candidate for the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination, has stirred up a storm with his recent comments on gay marriage and gay rights.

Huckabee, an ordained Baptist minister, compared gay marriage to incest, drug addiction, and polygamy! Just because some people believe in these things, he says, does not mean society has to accept it!

Gay rights and marriage is becoming more accepted, particularly among younger people, and for a possible presidential candidate to be so blunt in his attack on this issue is bound to cause a lot of turmoil. It is not appropriate to compare gay marriage to the other issues that Huckabee mentions!

This issue is seen by its supporters as an issue of civil rights, and Huckabee now sounds like a bigot, as he also opposes gay adoptions, and has also come out in the past against civil unions. He says the gay lifestyle is outside the “ideal”. He also has said in the past that a man and his pet or multiple partners should not be considered allowable, comparing it to gay relationships. He also has been against gays serving openly in the military, and being foster parents.

Somehow, most of the European democracies, Canada, Australia, and Israel have managed to adjust to gays being part of society, and certainly have gone further on gay rights. It is tragic that this issue has to divide this nation, as while any individual certainly can hold whatever beliefs he wants to, discrimination should not be allowed just because some people have trouble accepting change!

Former Politicians As Talk Show Hosts: A Growing Trend

A developing trend on cable news seems to be that former politicians are substituting for talk show hosts, and one wonders if this is a move to employ these political figures as future hosts of regularly scheduled shows.

Fox News Channel, of course, already employs former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on its network on regular shows.

But now, MSNBC has had former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer substitute for Dylan Ratigan, and CNN has had former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura replace Larry King for one evening.

It must be said that all of these former governors have a certain manner about them that makes them effective as talk show hosts, and it could be that politicians who have left office voluntarily, been forced out of office, or been defeated for office may very well be the media stars of the future!

Will Mike Huckabee Have The Same Fate As Michael Dukakis?

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is under fire for having released a convict who murdered four police officers in Washington State before being killed this morning by police pursuing him.

This release happened back in the year 2000 when Huckabee was still governor, and way before he sought the Presidency in 2008.

He is considered now one of the top three Republican possibilities for the Presidential nomination in 2012, at least in polls, along with Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin. He has, however, earlier expressed the thought that he might not seek the Presidency, as he has done it already and really likes his talk show on Fox News Channel on Saturday evenings, along with his syndicated radio talk show.

It seems to me that he will be now off limits to conservatives for support in 2012, with them already having expressed doubts in 2008, based on his alleged high spending budgets in Arkansas. He has already received a storm of protest over the release of this convict, and if one goes by history, it will doom him for any future in politics.

This condemnation of a governor for pardoning a convict who later committed more crimes was certainly utilized by the first President Bush in his campaign against Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis in the 1988 Presidential campaign. The Massachusetts governor never recovered from the “Willie Horton” ads used against him.

It will be interesting to see how far and how long the attacks against Huckabee will go, but I think the odds are he is finished in American politics as a result of this unfortunate set of circumstances.

But one other question: will the Democrats go after Huckabee as the GOP went after Dukakis? I highly doubt it, but it will be very reflective of the differences between the two major political parties. More likely is the conservative purists in the GOP will make mince meat of Huckabee while the Democrats sit on the sidelines!
