The Donald Trump Nightmare Began Seven Years Ago Today!

On June 16, 2015, two days after Donald Trump’s 69th Birthday, the New York Real Estate Mogul announced his candidacy for the Republican Presidential nomination for 2016.

The seven years since that day have been a literal nightmare, with Trump declaring war on all of his Republican primary opponents and promoting racism, nativism, misogyny, and supporting domestic terrorism in the pursuit of his goal of destroying American democracy and promoting authoritarian Fascism.

His four year term was easily the most corrupt and divisive Presidency in American history, and he was determined to force his will on the nation, as the first losing candidate to refuse to accept defeat, and encourage his supporters to attack the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

A cult has built up around Donald Trump which threatens stability and order, and Trump and his ilk remain dire threats to the future of American government and the world community at large, as he embraces authoritarian dictators and has undermined America’s allies around the world.

The future is tense and unpredictable, and the Republican Party has become a party of white supremacy, male dominance, and extremist right wing, working against the rights of racial and ethnic minorities, women, gays and lesbians, academic freedom in colleges and universities, and even public schools and libraries.

America is in the greatest crisis since the Civil War 160 years ago, and the future is not guaranteed to be one of democracy surviving.

Donald Trump Should Be Facing Charges For January 6, 2021 Insurrection!

With the January 6 House Committee deep into its public hearings and testimony about the January 6, 2021 Insurrection, the evidence is building up of former President Donald Trump’s direct involvement and incitement of the horrendous events of that day at the US Capitol.

Can any sane person really believe that Trump does not have a major input into what happened, including his association with the “Proud Boys” and “Oath Keepers” domestic terrorist groups; and the involvement of a multitude of people around him in laying plans for the chaos of that day?

Can a President who endorsed harm against his own Vice President, Mike Pence, be allowed to go without charges that any other person would face?

It is clear that Donald Trump knew and knows he lost the 2020 Presidential election, but his own ego and Fascist authoritarian leanings made him unwilling to accept reality!

It is a difficult issue for the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland to take action, but if the Constitution and rule of law are to matter in the future, then Donald Trump must face charges!

Six Months To Midterm Elections: Time To Emphasize The Danger Of Republican Extremists!

In six months, the Midterm Congressional and Gubernatorial Elections of 2022 will occur.

Polls indicate disillusionment with Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, due to inflation and its effects, and the fact that there is stalemate with the evenly divided Senate and the small Democratic edge in the House of Representatives.

There is concern felt about the danger of Republican extremism in the states and on the Congressional level.

The party has allowed itself to promote policies that victimize women, people of color, immigrants, gays and transgender individuals.

They are promoting censorship and declaring war on public education and libraries in the name of advocacy of Christian values in a nation based on separation of church and state.

There is a strong strain of pro Russian, pro Vladimir Putin, support and a growing isolationist spirit, which endangers the alliances of the United States in international relations, most notably the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The cancer of Donald Trump still infuses the party rhetoric and obsequious support of a man who still contends that the election was stolen, and attempts are being pursued to insure limitations on voting and on control of election machinery for the upcoming Presidential Election of 2024.

American democracy and basic common decency, humanity, empathy and compassion are under attack, and the Democrats must pursue an aggressive counter reaction to the evils represented by an opposition party which is authoritarian oriented, and Fascist in nature!

The whole future of the American nation is at stake, if the Republican Party, as now constituted, wins control of state and national governments, as likely it will be a point of no return!

So Joe Biden and all Democrats must go on the offensive and make clear the dangers of Republican extremism!

Open, Abusive And Non Embarrassed Lying Now The Republican Playbook!

It is now perfectly clear to anyone with a brain, ethics, morality, and common decency that the Republican Party has become a party of open, abusive, and non embarrassed lying about everything imaginable!

It has also become a party with fake religiosity, and willing to take away the basic civil rights of racial minorities, women, and gays and transgender individuals!

The Republican Party backs a tyrant who did great harm to American democracy, and most members of that party, with a very few exceptions, have no issue with the possibility that Donald Trump might be their nominee again in 2024!

The horrific US Capitol Insurrection, in which Republicans, as well as Democrats, were in dire danger of their lives, seems to have been pushed to the wayside by gutless members of the party, who have no concern about the damage, injuries, and deaths caused by a lawless mob of traitors and seditionists!

How can a person such as Kevin McCarthy sleep at night with a clear conscience, knowing he is truly a coward and a sycophant who puts his own personal advancement ahead of everything else?

How can criminal elements who want a Fascist authoritarian government, be allowed to move forward on their plans for the future in 2024 and beyond?

This crisis America is in could end up worse than the Civil War, if decent people stand by and allow a corrupt party and obscence individuals to steal our government and impose the potential of martial law on this nation, which has survived so many earlier challenges!

Florida Going Nuts Over “Critical Race Theory” In Math Textbooks! Absolute Looniness!

The state of Florida is becoming a nightmare, as Ron DeSantis is promoting the concept that “Critical Race Theory” is permeating, of all things, MATH textbooks!

Critical Race Theory is not taught in public schools, but DeSantis is determined that any concept of race in any curriculum must be banned, and it is not just Florida leading the fight for banning race, as if somehow, that would mean that children would not be exposed to the reality of race as a factor in American society and history!

This is exasperating, as to claim that math cen be hijacked, along with the entire school curriculum, is totally preposterous and outrageous!

As this author and blogger indicated yesterday, Ron DeSantis is out of control, acting like a Fascist dictator, including working to deny African Americans in Florida fair representation in Congress.

This man is more dangerous than even Donald Trump, as he is willing to stop at nothing to become the Republican Presidential nominee, including not standing aside if Donald Trump announces for President!

DeSantis has become a much younger Donald Trump in his manner, his arrogance, his biases, his agenda, his lack of any limitations on his lust for power, and he MUST be stopped!

CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) A Mockery Of Conservatism And The Party Of Lincoln!

The annual CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) took place for four days last week in Orlando, Florida, the home of three of the absolutely worst political leaders imaginable–Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator and former Governor Rick Scott, and Senator Marco Rubio!

White Supremacists and lovers of Vladimir Putin, who is waging war on Ukraine, dominated the four days of speeches, and showed just how authoritarian oriented these so called conservatives are, who have made a mockery of conservatism and the party of Lincoln!

There was no support of the brave Ukranians, fighting against the most dangerous man on the planet, Vladimir Putin, but lunatic support of Donald Trump, the most dangerous man in America, who keeps his legions of supporters loyal to his anti democratic, anti NAT0 and Fascist authoritarianism, which waged war on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021!

The CPAC poll for the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination had Trump winning 59 percent of the vote, to Ron DeSantis and 28 percent, second year in a row of CPAC still supporting the traitor and seditionist Donald Trump!

The true conservatives—the Lincoln Project—and such leaders as Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Larry Hogan, Charlie Baker, Chris Sununu, along with fellow former Republicans outside of government—are working to undermine the Trump legions, and save the party future!

Republican National Committee Threatening To Refuse To Participate In Presidential Debates In 2024!

The Republican National Committee is threatening to refuse to participate in Presidential debates in 2024, as they complain that the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates is one sided and favors Democrats, and that the moderators selected are biased.

Ronna McDaniel, who happens to be a niece of Senator Mitt Romney, is making these threats, which even her uncle thinks is outrageous!

It is clear the Republican party does not want to expose itself to any criticism of Donald Trump, or whatever lackey of Trump ends up as the GOP Presidential nominee.

This is another step in the Republican Party moving toward Fascist authoritarianism, as they seem to feel why should people be able to vote, therefore promoting voter suppression laws in Republican controlled states, and now the refusal to face the challenge of their opponents.

There should be a way to prevent such a threat, as it undermines American democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law!

Trump Republicans Have Become Pro Russian, Stunning Reversal Of Republican Party History!

The Republican Party historically was always anti Soviet Union, and its peak was in the time of Senator Joseph McCarthy and the Second Red Scare of the 1950s, and the tough line of Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan that followed in later years.

Now there is a complete reversal in the age of Donald Trump, with the 45th President cozying up to Vladimir Putin, a former KGB agent, and leader of the Russian Federation since 2000, who has already invaded Georgia (2008) and the Crimean area of Ukraine (2014), and now threatening another invasion of the remainder of Ukraine!

Rather than unite around President Joe Biden against a potential Russian invasion, Republicans on Capitol Hill, the majority ignoring the January 6 US Capitol Insurrection perpetrated by Donald Trump and his authoritarian supporters, instead are critical of any strong reaction to Russia’s government!

This is mind boggling, and demonstrates how the Republican Party has become authoritarian and Fascist in nature, promoting the end of American democracy and instilling fear of what they call “white replacement” theory!

Growing Threats To Election Officials In States, Members Of Congress From Right Wing Trump Supporters!

The refusal of Donald Trump to concede in the Presidential Election of 2020 one year later and counting has created a poisonous, threatening situation for dozens of election officials in many states, AND members of Congress who have been courageous enough to be critical of Trump, including supporting his impeachment and support the infrastructure legislation that passed by a bipartisan vote.

It has also caused threats and confrontations of election board and school board members in many states, including threatening phone calls and emails, designed to discourage people from participating in promotion of American democracy and educational curriculum and more.

Private security and police support is required for so many public officials and staff who never had to worry before now about dangers to their lives and families.

We are in the midst of a “Reign of Terror”, by domestic terrorists and white supremacists, egged on by the 45th President, and yet, so far, nothing seems to be working to hold him accountable, and deal with the horrific situation the nation faces.

And the next rounds of elections, state and congressional in 2022, and the presidential election of 2024, seem highly likely to be a time of potentially greater crises and threats than even the events of the past year, from the US Capitol Insurrection of January 6, 2021 onward!

There is a growing sense that America may experience the kind of Fascist authoritarian threat presented in the mid 20th century by Fascist Italy and Benito Mussolini, and Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler, as well as other authoritarian leaders in other nations past and present!

Theodore Roosevelt 163rd Anniversary Of His Birth At Time Of Destruction Of His Reform Efforts

Theodore Roosevelt, the second greatest Republican President (after Abraham Lincoln), born on this day in 1858, represented progressive reform, the use of the federal government to promote and monitor political and economic reform.

He saw the danger of unbridled capitalism, and the need to recognize labor rights.

He saw the need for political reforms, bringing government closer to its citizens, through the utilization of direct primaries, initiatives, referendums, the recall method, women’s suffrage, and proposals to modify the powers of the Supreme Court and the life term of its membership.

He wanted limits on outside groups spending on political campaigns, which he saw as undermining American democracy.

He was the heroic promoter of the environment, regarded as the greatest President on conservation of natural resources, and the promotion of the expansion of national parks and monuments.

He was the first President to suggest the need for a national health care program, and so much of his agenda on social and economic reform came about with the New Deal of Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Great Society of Lyndon B. Johnson, and now, Joe Biden wishes to extend what TR first promoted more than a century ago!

His 1912 Progressive (Bull Moose) Party had a platform that makes it seem more like 2012, and he still represents the Republican Party at its best since the time of Abraham Lincoln, and particularly as compared to now. The Republicans have become a Fascist authoritarian party that is undermining American democracy, and working to limit the right to vote despite the various constitutional amendments (15, 19, 23, 24, 26) to insure that right, along with the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

TR was certainly imperfect, as he promoted white supremacy typical of his time, and was imperialistic in his treatment of Latin America, as well as his promotion of an expansion of the military, but it is clear he would repudiate the Republican Party of the 2020s.

And notice how the Republican Party glorifies Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, NOT Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt!
