Today is the 5th Anniversary of the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Insurrection, perpetrated by Donald Trump, and his evil minions, who are attempting to wipe out history for future generations!
But the struggle to retain the truth of the horrors of that day, which should be regarded as equivalent of December 7, November 22, and September 11 goes on.
Despite Donald Trump being able to evade punishment at this point for his authoritarian actions then and since, it is essential that the truth be told.
Otherwise, the battle for the rule of law and American democracy and the Constitution, will lead to myths and lies that will undermine the history of the American Republic, as the 250th Anniversary awaits us six months from yesterday.
The sacrifices of the US Capitol Police that day, with 170 injured, and five dying, cannot be eliminated as facts, and the danger that the members of Congress faced that day, cannot be allowed to disappear into history as a myth.
American history long term will NOT hide the truth that Donald Trump was engaged in criminal activity, and will be seen in history as a traitor, and will face ultimate punishment no matter how much MAGA Republicans work to deny reality!
In the 1920s, the Nazi movement and other nationalist groups in Germany used the imagery of the Teutonic Knights to cultivate a specific national myth, though this was more of a calculated propaganda tool than a widespread public “delusion”.
In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, the reactionary conservative movement in the U.S. had people embracing the image of being “Minitemen” as their delusion. It was founded by a retired candy maker, Robert Welch, and Fred Koch, a WWII German imagrant, was one of the orginal members.
The modern Tea Party movement emerged in the United States in early 2009 mainly funded by the Koch Brothers, modeled by their father’s John Birch Society. It started primarily as a fiscally conservative protest against the federal government’s response to the 2008 financial collapse crisis caused by W. Bush and Dick Cheney Administration’s abuse and mishandling of the banking economy.
Their propaganda means had people’s delusion image of being “Revolutionary Period Patriots.”
All these noted movements in history have resulted in a distasteful stain upon our society. The Trump Administration will go down in hindsight as being no different.
Hard to believe it’s really been five years since one of the darkest days in U.S. history – and yes, in this f’ed-up timeline, Trump did NOT go to prison, let alone within days or weeks, for attempting a violent coup against our government and our democracy. It’s utterly f’ed up, there’s no other way to put it.
The January 6 Insurrectionists Take a Victory Lap
“The Proud Boys and other J6ers marched on Tuesday to the scene of their crime—the U.S. Capitol—where they basked in redemption, vowed to keep fighting, and even mused about running for office.”
