American Democracy survives, as on Election Day 2025, there was a magnificent victory on all fronts by Democrats, everywhere one looked!
From the victory of a Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani as New York City Mayor, to a moderate centrist Democrat Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey elected as Governors, to a 2-1 victory for the Proposition of reapportionment of House seats in California, and even the retention of three state Supreme Court Justices in Pennsylvania, Democrats revived after the tragedy of the Presidential Election of 2024.
The Democratic Party showed its diversity, with a Muslim NYC Mayor, and Women Governors with military background in Virginia and New Jersey!
With all of the disillusionment the Democrats have gone through this past year since Donald Trump was elected, the reality remains that the Democratic Party IS “the party of the people”, of all backgrounds, and its diversity is its strength!
The Republican Party has become a party of sycophants to an authoritarian Fascist dictator wannabe, who is mentally deficient, mean spirited, cruel, heartless, and promoting an attack on democracy and the rule of law.
The Republicans are primarily a party of those who promote racism, nativism, misogyny, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and homophobia, allowing extremist white supremacist Christianity to become its central message, even though Donald Trump is, most certainly, totally irreligious!
There was an older white guy running for the Alderman Seat of my Ward 6 here in Annapolis.
The poling place is in kinda the projects of our area… and when he saw my old, white guy aspects, wearing my Navy Veteran ball cap, he thought he surely had my vote. He tried to hand me a campaign tag you would normally hag on someone’s house door, but I told him I didn’t need it. He then asked me to vote for him..(because I know he was just seeing a demographics of those who wouldn’t vote for him at all.
I asked him if he was a Democrat or a Republican, his replied was, “Republican.”
I just shook my head and said “No” without missing a step.
I’m sure I left him thinking, “if I’m not getting this old white man’s vote… I’m not going to have a chance in Hell of winning at all!!
I was feeling pretty good with the election outcome this morning, and it is one of the reasons I live in Annapolis.
To continue on with this story, Donald Trump in a “Spoiled Child Hissy Fit Tantrum” along with his Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, have warned that the aviation system could be forced to shut down parts or all of its airspace if the ongoing government shutdown continues and staffing shortages become a safety risk.
Secretary Duffy stated the administration would “shut the whole airspace down” to ensure public safety if the system became unsafe due to staffing shortages caused by air traffic controllers not being paid during the government shutdown.
I say, “Go for it!” Trump and his MAGA Administration lost “biggly” on yesterday’s odd year elections, so keep piling his stupidity on up to the 2026 National Elections.
With an overwhelming Democratic House and Senate, we can impeach and remove his ignorant ass from the White House. Then sue him to repair and restore the “abused rental property” White House to the condition it was when he walked in.
These victories have given me some hope.
