Pure Insanity: The Gaza Strip, Added To Panama Canal, Greenland, Canada, As Expansionist Ambitions Of Donald Trump!

America and the world is in a season of pure insanity, with lunatic, out of control President Donald Trump, setting out to dismantle many federal government agencies with the assistance of billionaire Elon Musk, who holds no government position and is a danger to the nation and the world, alongside the 47th President!

But also, Donald Trump, supposedly a President who was “isolationist” and wanted America to withdraw from world commitments, is on a rampage to have the United States take over the Gaza Strip, and remove all Palestinians permanently from their land!

This, if it occurred, would be truly “ethnic cleansing”, similarly to what America did to its native Americans over the past four centuries!

THere is ZERO support in the Middle East to relocate, forcibly, 2 million Palestinians, and imagine if one was to say that the Jewish population of Israel should leave their land under force of a foreign nation that has no business getting involved in any threatened, and forced, relocation of population?

And Trump is a threat not only on the Gaza Strip, but also to the Panama Canal treaty signed and ratified by the US Senate a quarter century ago under President Jimmy Carter, a rightful action to undo three quarters of a century of exploitation by the United States from the time of Theodore Roosevelt onward.

And Trump also is threatening Denmark over its territory of Greenland, all over wanting access to the mineral resources of that barren island of only about 56,000 people, endangering US relations with our European allies in NATO.

And putting tariffs on Canada, and then having a 30 day delay, is inflaming anti American sentiments in Canada, among all political views in that nation, and the insult of Trump suggesting that Canada become the 51st state, and calling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “Governor”!

Donald Trump is out of control, acting maniacally, and his Republican Party is ceding all rights of Congress to promote checks and balances, as required under the US Constitution!

America is in a constitutional crisis and an American national security crisis, and the only winners are our adversaries in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and foreign terrorists!

After much criticism, he’s now walking back his stupid Gaza comments.

Same thing happened with the tariffs on Canada and Mexico. He walked that back after the stock market started falling and the Wall Street Journal called them dumb.

The resistance is fighting back! People are protesting all over the country. The Senate and the House are getting swamped with phone calls. The Democrats are vowing to use the filibuster and other such tactics in Congress. Lots of lawsuits are being filed against Trump.

Mike Johnson is a disgrace to the office of Speaker, a groveling/boot-licking lackey. Pathetic.

Things are picking up a bit now, but I’m very disappointed that Dems weren’t ready to roll on Day #1 of the Trump presidency, that they voted for several of Trump’s Cabinet picks, etc. It’s like Dems simply don’t understand what we’re up against this time around, and that’s just mind boggling.

    Seconded, Former Republican.

In the vast majority of cases, the answer is, definitely don’t do it!

So, basically, they love screaming at Democrats – and ONLY at Democrats – while being super nice to Republicans. Brilliant, huh???

Vox has a very useful reminder of how to effectively understand the Trump administration.

*Beware the shiny object: So often, Trump says something wild that takes everyone’s focus and stirs up outrage — and then it gets walked back. It takes all of our attention, but we end up right where we started.

*Mind the gap between what Trump says and what his administration does. When Trump says something outlandish, wait to see if anyone acts on it. That’s a much better way to keep calm and focused on what matters.

*Don’t lose the big story: Trump right now is attempting to massively expand his power over the US government, and he’s using that expanded power to make policy moves with ramifications at home and all over the world. That’s the Trump story to keep tracking.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has unveiled the party’s first big legislative response to Donald Trump’s second term: a bill designed to halt access by Elon Musk to sensitive Treasury Department payment systems.

Democrats said they will introduce their bill — dubbed the Taxpayer Data Collection Act, the same name as the GOP bill from last Congress — later today. A similar bill will be introduced on the Senate side.

The bill itself hasn’t been filed yet, but Jeffries said it was designed to protect names, Social Security numbers, addresses and bank account information as part of that Treasury system.

Democrats are largely powerless to force votes on legislation like this one in the House minority. But party leaders signaled that they intend to pressure GOP lawmakers to support the bill which would allow them to force it to the floor through procedures like a discharge petition.

House Republicans have the smallest majority in over a century, and only a handful of GOP lawmakers would need to side with Democrats to pass the bill if it came to the floor.

“We’re going to explore all legislative options for this,” Jeffries said, when asked if he planned to pursue a discharge petition. He described an all-of-the-above strategy to push back against what he called a “Billionaire puppetmaster.”

“Three GOP members can end this today,” House Minority Whip Kathryn Clark told reporters.

Democratic Rep. Sean Casten added that his office has received “more phone calls on this than anything in my six years in office.”

Media observers have long recognized that Fox News effectively serves as an arm of President Donald Trump’s political apparatus. But with Wednesday’s announcement that the network has tapped his daughter-in-law, Lara, to host a weekly show, it’s clear Fox has abandoned any pretense that it functions as something other than a state TV channel.

New York Times has some details about Trump’s Gaza announcement.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/us/politics/trump-gaza-takeover.html

When President Trump announced his proposal for the United States to take ownership of Gaza on Tuesday, he shocked even senior members of his own White House and government.

While his announcement looked formal and thought-out — he read the plan from a sheet of paper — his administration had not done even the most basic planning to examine the feasibility of the idea, according to four people with knowledge of the discussions, who were not authorized to speak publicly.

It wasn’t only the Americans who were scrambling; the announcement came as just as much of a surprise to Mr. Trump’s Israeli visitors. Soon before they walked out for their joint news conference on Tuesday, Mr. Trump surprised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel by telling him he planned to announce the Gaza ownership idea, according to two people briefed on their interactions.

Inside the U.S. government, there had been no meetings with the State Department or Pentagon, as would normally occur for any serious foreign policy proposal, let alone one of such magnitude. There had been no working groups. The Defense Department had produced no estimates of the troop numbers required, or cost estimates, or even an outline of how it might work.

There was little beyond an idea inside the president’s head.
