Donald Trump Becomes More Dangerous Every Day, As He Is Acting Like A Caged Animal!

Reports are making it clear that the stress and tension level at the White House is sky high, and anyone who looks at Donald Trump can see that he is not looking healthy, and is striking out in a crazy, maniacal manner at everyone imaginable, including the assertion that the whistleblower in the Ukraine scandal should be treated as “spies in the past” have been treated, implying the death penalty.

Actually, only Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, convicted as atomic spies, were executed, with all other convicted spies having life in prison without parole.

But Trump is a danger to national security every day, and he could strike out by launching attacks and invasion on Iran, or declaring martial law by asserting that the “deep state” conspiracy he perceives in his crazy mind requires him to do so.

One has to hope that Vice President Mike Pence and the majority of the cabinet perceive the maniacal behavior of Donald Trump, and would be ready to take action under the 25th Amendment to take power away from the President if the craziness continues.

But it is hard to imagine Mike Pence putting the national interest ahead of his own ambitions, even though we know now that his wife. Karen Pence, is no fan of the Chief Executive.

So we are in very dangerous times, possibly more so than since September 11!

    1. Has anybody ever considered the possibility that the only reason Donald Trump is in the White House is because the so-called “Deep State” put him there? That they put him there to continue what Obama and Cheney/Bush the Lesser had done on its behalf, and to honor the 8-On/8-Off tradition of Oval Office occupancy started with Eisenhower?

Think about it: IF the Deep State is the military-industrial complex/petro-financial web/techno-infotainment matrix/drugs n guns cartel/surveillance-secrecy-security-safety panopticon that is America today…; THEN ~ in this, The Age of Trump ~ the Deep State has never had it so good: even under Obama, Cheney/Bush the Lesser, and Clinton.

And, as always, it is getting a great deal of aid and abetment from the folks at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, up on The Hill.

    2. Has anybody ever considered the possibility that putting a born again, fundamentalist, Waitin-for-The-Rapture Christianist Super Patriot in charge is exactly what Sinclair Lewis was talking about when he noted: “When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a bible.”

The Wachowski Brothers’ V FOR VENDETTA does a good job of showing what that looks like in real life.

    3. Has anybody ever considered the possibility that the election of Donald Trump was Phase III of the Coup whose Phase I was 9/11, and whose Phase II was the financial ¢ri$i$/meltdown of 2008?

Jeffrey Moebus writes, “Has anybody ever considered the possibility that the only reason Donald Trump is in the White House is because the so-called “Deep State” put him there?”

The Deep State preferred Hillary Clinton.

    That was Election 2016.

Three years later, they’re not as uncomfortable with Donald Trump as they were prior to Election Day, November 8, 2016.

Donald Trump won his Republican pickup of the presidency, in 2016, for numerous reasons. I will limit this to three.

The first had to do with the Democrats having won two consecutive election cycles—2008 and 2012 for Barack Obama—and, since the 1950s, only once did a party win three consecutive cycles for the presidency. That was the Republicans of the 1980s.

The second was because of income inequality, the bad trade deals, and people—the have-nots—not feeling the Obama presidency helped them sufficiently after the economic meltdown of 2008. (In other words: Wall Street was bailed out. Main Street was not.)

The third was that the 2016 Republican presidential primaries voters voted the nomination to the candidate they needed nominated. For the sake of the party trying to win back the presidency. John Kasich (the type of candidate you nominate when you are the White House opposition party and you won’t be unseating the incumbent presidsent), Marco Rubio (a empty figure), and Ted Cruz (who repels people even in his party) were not going to win the nomination. They offered nothing in the way of a different direction. As for the 2016 Democrats—with its nominee Hillary Clinton—it was an anti-establishment year and they didn’t care.

The Deep State did not put Donald Trump in the White House. There were plenty of dynamics going on in the body politic—don’t forget Brexit—and Trump’s election was an outcome that is opposite of what the Deep State does. The Deep State is much about control. Trump’s presidential election was not.

Leia – That Vox article hit the nail on the head.

    https://washingtonmonthly.com/2017/07/05/dear-trump-voters-the-1950s-arent-coming-back/

Ever since the election was over last November, one of the things I keep thinking about is how sure I was that the America that elected Barack Obama would never elect Donald Trump. I am prepared to admit that I was terribly wrong and significantly underestimated what I had written about back in 2014: Understanding the Threat of a Confederate Insurgency. In that article I quoted Doug Muder, who compared the Tea Party (now Trump’s base) to the Confederate world view.

[The essence of the Confederate worldview is that the democratic process cannot legitimately change the established social order, and so all forms of legal and illegal resistance are justified when it tries…
The Confederate sees a divinely ordained way things are supposed to be, and defends it at all costs. No process, no matter how orderly or democratic, can justify fundamental change.]

It is worth thinking about what the “divinely ordained way things are supposed to be” looks like to confederate insurgents. Robert Jones, CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute, gives us a clue in an excerpt from his book, “The End of White Christian America” by quoting something Donald Trump said during the campaign.

[In an interview on Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in early September, Trump put the choice starkly for the channel’s conservative Christian viewers: “If we don’t win this election, you’ll never see another Republican and you’ll have a whole different church structure.” Asked to elaborate, Trump continued, “I think this will be the last election that the Republicans have a chance of winning because you’re going to have people flowing across the border, you’re going to have illegal immigrants coming in and they’re going to be legalized and they’re going to be able to vote, and once that all happens you can forget it.”]

When it comes to white Christian America, Jones describes how it was that a man, whose life represents everything that goes against what they believe in, won them over.

[Trump’s campaign—with its sweeping promise to “make American great again”—triumphed by converting self-described “values voters” into what I’ve called “nostalgia voters.” Trump’s promise to restore a mythical past golden age—where factory jobs paid the bills and white Protestant churches were the dominant cultural hubs—powerfully tapped evangelical anxieties about an uncertain future.]

This is why those who argue over whether Trump supporters were motivated by racism or economic anxiety continue to miss the point. The issue at play was more broad than either of those assumptions capture. It was about nostalgia for the mythical golden age of the past that, fueled by anger, became a defense of “the divinely ordained way things are supposed to be.” Included in that stew are the intertwining fears about changing demographics, immigrants, Muslims, women, LGBTQ, globalization, the impact of the Great Recession, the decline in religious affiliation and racism. In other words, nostalgia voters (i.e., confederate insurgents) were reacting to the perceived changes in their established social order.

Prior to the election, Rebecca Traister wrote this:

[The public spectacle of this presidential election, and the two that have preceded it, are inextricably linked to the racialized and gendered anger and violence we see around us…
Whatever their flaws, their political shortcomings, their progressive dings and dents, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton mean a lot. They represent an altered power structure and changed calculations about who in this country may lead…
This is our country in an excruciating period of change. This is the story of the slow expansion of possibility for figures who have long existed on the margins, and it is also the story of the dangerous rage those figures provoke.]

That is very similar to what Jones has written post-election.

[The election, more than in any in recent memory, came down to two vividly contrasting views of America. Donald Trump’s campaign painted a bleak portrait of America’s present, set against a bright, if monochromatic, vision of 1950s America restored. Hillary Clinton’ campaign, by contrast, sought to replace the first African American president with the first female president and embraced the multicultural future of 2050, the year the Census Bureau originally projected the United States would become a majority nonwhite nation. “Make American Great Again” and “Stronger Together,” the two campaigns’ competing slogans, became proxies for an epic battle over the changing face of America.]

Ever since it became clear to me that what we are dealing with is a confederate insurgency, I’ve wondered how all this will end. Obviously I’m terrible at predictions, so it’s not worth it to try. All I know is that the last two times this country faced a challenge like this (the Civil War and the civil rights movement), too much blood was spilled. Jones notes that, “At the end of the day, white evangelicals’ grand bargain with Trump will be unable to hold back the sheer weight of cultural change.” In other words, no matter how hard they try, the 1950’s aren’t coming back, and many of us don’t want them to. We either face the future together, or eventually, all hell breaks loose.

Folks seem to forget that wise old adage of Papa Joe Stalin: “When it comes to elections, it’s not who votes that counts, but who counts the votes.”

And Donald Trump will stay in the White House as long as he reads his scripts, and follows the direction and choreography of his owners, operators, and handlers. Should he deviate from that script, he will be gone.

Which may have been the plan all along.

For the fact of the matter is that it is difficult to see how the Deep State could be doing any better under Clinton than it now is under Trump [altho i’m sure they had their plans for her, as well].

Under Trump, which element of the Deep State ~ the military-industrial complex/petro-financial web/techno-infotainment matrix/drugs n guns cartel/surveillance-secrecy-security-safety panopticon ~ is not doing better than it has ever done, even under Obama, Cheney/Bush the Lesser, and Clinton?

Rustbelt Democrat writes, “The Vox article and the Washington Monthly article both nail it! The Trumpanzees are scared of a changing culture, they’re scared of becoming minorities.”

After the presidential election of 2016, the neoliberal publication “Washington Monthly” tried to gaslight its readers by explaining away Trump having defeated Hillary to the extent you suggest—racism, sexism, overall national cultural changes—to give cover to the Clinton campaign and the Obama presidency without regard for the type of election that was 2016. It was an election in which people did not want status quo. The people did not want more of Obama. And, given the Democrats had the quintessential establishment nominee in Hillary Clinton, while the Republicans has a game-changer of a nominee in Donald Trump—and the presidency was in the column for eight years for the Democrats—the result was a Republican pickup for Trump.

The attempts by anyone trying to explain this away—and doing so by gaslighting—is an attempt to control the narrative and control the thoughts and responses by people who at least question how the Democratic Party operates.

The people you have described are not the only ones who voted in 2016.

A part of how Trump won was that 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton underperformed 2012 re-elected Democratic incumbent president Barack Obama’s margins with blacks and Hispanics and Asians. That means 2016 Republican pickup winner Donald Trump overperformed 2012 losing Republican Mitt Romney’s margins with blacks and Hispanics and Asians.

One more thing about had Hillary Clinton had won the United States presidential election of 2016:

The 2018 midterm elections would not have been a Democratic wave. They would not have been won with overall gains by the Democrats. The opposite would have been more likely. They would have been won with overall gains by the Republicans. It could have been a Republican wave.

From 1914 to 2018—that is keeping in mind the 17th Amendment—24 of the 27 midterm elections were won with overall gains by the White House opposition party.

Former Republican asks, “D – Has it ever occurred to you that more racists and sexists came out of the woodwork because Trump was using a bullhorn instead of a dog whistle?”

    Yes.

It has occurred to me that Trump motivated “more sexists and racists” to vote.

Are you saying that these sexists and racists were not around in past elections?

Barack Obama, the first person who is black to be elected and re-elected and have served as president of the United States, won his 2008 Democratic pickup of the presidency by, in part, losing white voters nationally by less than 2004 losing Democratic nominee John Kerry. Kerry lost whites by –17. Obama lost them by –12. Kerry’s margin in the U.S. Popular Vote was –2.46. So, whites helped deliver that 2008 Democratic presidential pickup—both the Electoral College and the U.S. Popular Vote—to Obama. So did males. Kerry lost men by –11. Obama flipped and won men by +1. There may have been a good number who are/were racist and sexist—and they mathematically shifted toward and/or voted for Obama anyway.

To the approximately 50 percent of the people with employment who have incomes of $30,000 or less per year—and to the nearly 80 percent of employed people who are living paycheck to paycheck—income inequality is important. Personally important. The most important issue.

If African Americans find it disproportionately difficult to take advantage of liberal promises of life, freedom and economic opportunity because of their identity, it stands to reason that identity remains a concern.
