Criminal That 800,000 Federal Workers Are Not Being Paid, While Congress Is Paid During Shutdown!

The Republican Party loves to attack the federal work force, showing no respect for their services, and always ready to cut the workforce, as if those who work for the numerous government agencies are insignificant,. In actuality, the American people have no clue, and lack appreciation of, the sacrifices of the federal government workers. Without their services, we would all suffer, as they do essential work in more ways than anyone understands!

Part of the lack of respect for federal workers that Republicans have is the decision to shut down the government over ObamaCare, a law in effect for three and a half years, and upheld by the Supreme Court.

So Congress collects its inflated salaries, while federal workers are told to go without, when they have bills like the rest of us, and are now being punished without any certainty as to when they will be paid again, and whether or not, they will be paid for the forced furlough from work, forced on them by Republican intransigence!

Not only should the shutdown end NOW, but there MUST be a guarantee that all federal workers will be paid full back pay, and the Republicans in Congress should have to donate their own salaries in a mandatory manner, to give each federal worker a bonus payment for the suffering he or she has had to bear because of the outrageous decision to shut down the government by Speaker John Boehner!

Thank you and you can be sure I will be bring up the 800 phone number topic I emailed you about the wing nuts are propagating.

I will only conceed the potential viewpoint that if there was any vapidity in what they are saying it translates into, it would be as an encrypted message to the Teabaggers and a strong suggestion as what they can do. 😉

Engineer here is some important information not making to the front page but that health care providers are aware of. I hope the topic comes up on your show.
Thanks to the government shutdown forced by the REPUBLICAN PARTY, there is considerably less tracking of food poisoning outbreaks, monitoring of serious health epidemics, such as flu, or inspecting work sites to ensure the safety of food and drugs in this country. The shut down is responsible for significantly reduced capacity to respond to outbreak investigations, processing of laboratory samples, and maintaining the agency’s 24/7 emergency operations center.
Well over half of the staff at agencies overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are slated for furlough under contingency staffing plans. That comes to about 40,000 employees, including 8,700 of the nearly 13,000, of the workers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and about 6,600 of the nearly 15,000 employees at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The vast majority of CDC’s activities will shut down completely. Our country’s public health response will be decreased to a very dangerous level. Better hope for no big outbreaks of hepatitis A, salmonella while our federal government is shut down.
At the Centers for Disease Control headquarters in Atlanta where TWO THIRDS of the center’s 13,000 employees worldwide have been furloughed the Director of the CDC Dr. Thomas Frieden, is worried.
    He stated,
“I usually don’t lose sleep despite the many threats we face, but I am losing sleep because we don’t know that we will be able to find and stop things that might kill people”.
Think what this means! The shutdown means the CDC will not be able to produce the weekly national map that tracks flu outbreaks state by state. Flu season began last month. They will be less able to determine when it’s come, what kind of flu has come or to respond to outbreaks.
More people are likely to get sick, the elderly, children and people with concurrent illnesses are at risk for death because there has been no warning keeping health care professionals updated!
It’s absolutely essential that the CDC knows what’s happening with the flu, where it’s spreading, what types of flu are spreading. The medication is manufactured and shipped to high risk areas of breakout depending on these important details. It’s vital to know if it’s in nursing homes or in other specific populations.
This republican shut down of the government is putting everyone in this country at risk!
Of concern to every one are other outbreaks the CDC will not be able to track, including hepatitis A, salmonella, and measles.
If there is an outbreak of something like Legionella pneumonia, or E-coli, the UNDERSTAFFED CDC won’t be able to detect it, find it, or not stop it! Oh by the way food inspectors are furloughed as well
Outbreaks of food-borne illness can affect people in multiple states. With the decrease in staff an outbreak may not not be identified promptly and people can die, especially children.
This is the direct fault of some very childish, self-serving Republican lunatics who refuse to act like adults and instead throw a temper tantrum. They do not want millions of Americans to have access to health insurance and by shutting down the government, they are endangering the health of all the people in this country!

Wow, Maggie, what a powerful response, and I thank you for making us all aware of just how dangerous this shutdown of the government really is.

People are starting to realize that the government that many of them supposedly hate so much, does so much good for them, that they take for granted. This health crisis, if it develops, will so overwhelm the nation so that the Republican Party will have lost all of the credibility it has left, which is not much. It is criminal behavior, and John Boehner, Ted Cruz, Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan et al, and the Tea Party whackos need to be criminally prosecuted for what they are doing to the nation.

They must pay the price for their recklessness, lack of compassion, their uncaring nature about the elderly, children, the disabled, the sick, and one has to wonder about how they sleep at night. The answer is that they should sleep at night under federal arrest in a prison cell, and be given long prison sentences as a lesson to the future radical anarchists who might think they can arise and destroy America!
