Businessman Wendell Willkie Chooses Senate Minority Leader Charles McNary 1940—Any Connection To Trump Decision On Vice Presidency This Year?

In 1940, the Republican Party nominated businessman Wendell Willkie, a former Democrat, who had never held public office, and had originally been a supporter early on of the the New Deal of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

In 2016, the Republican Party is about to nominate a businessman, Donald Trump, a former Democrat, who has never held public office, and had originally been supportive of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Willkie chose Republican Senate Minority Leader Charles McNary of Oregon to be his Vice Presidential running mate, a very reputable person with a long career in the Senate.

The question is will Trump select a person of McNary’s quality and experience to be his running mate, or will he pick a “bomb thrower” or an incompetent person to be his Vice Presidential choice?

That is a question that will be answered in the coming weeks!

The press should not be free from criticism. Our media is really despicable. Just because there should be no government censorship doesn’t mean they cannot be criticized.

The press was doing their job. It’s Trump who doesn’t want to be criticized.

Precisely, Former Republican! What Donald Trump is trying to do is to delegitimize the media so that people will not believe anything negative said about him. He is playing the victim so that people will sympathize with him.

Sleazy Donald and his best buddy Vladimar Putin have many things in common and one of them is a state controlled media that only praise them and never criticize them or hold them accountable.

This tactic is the kind of thing Hitler used to delegitimize his foes.

Only people with a sick mind can interpret what Brad Thor said as a threat to Trump or a call for his assassination. That said, if Congress were to continue to be as feckless and spineless as it has been during the Obama administration when it has overstepped its constitutional authority with an even more hypothetical authoritarian Trump administration, what do we do? Who will stand up? Who will refuse to go along?

ROFL! Obama’s administration is absolutely not authoritarian. Thanks for the laughs for today RW troll.

We the voters are going to stand up against tRump! We are going to get Hillary elected and get her a Democratic majority in Congress! 🙂

    I second that, Former Republican!

Leia – I hope and pray that comes true. This election is too important for progressives and liberals to show voter apathy. Drumpf + a Republican majority in Congress + a conservative majority on the Supreme Court = disaster for this country!

The simple fact the either Hillary or Sander if elected will be the ones nominating at least 2 new Justices is reason enough for many conservatives to vote for Trump. With either Hillary or Sanders it is 100% guaranteed that leftist hacks will be put on the Court and this will pave the way for not only the ever expanding power of the Federal leviathan but primarily the Executive. With Trump there is a slight chance that this scenario won’t happen.

    Totally second that Pragmatic!

Ha! Perfect commercial! Have Trump and that North Korean nut on a split screen. Have ominous music playing in the background. Announcer says, “This is what you will get if you vote for Trump.”

Paul Krugman says that the media’s narratives are wrong.

“Maybe the Trump phenomenon is about the rage of angry white Republican men, a rage not shared by voters at large. Maybe Clinton is a much better candidate than she’s given credit for — her main problem is not lack of ‘authenticity’ or whatever, but the unremitting hostility of the media, which have given her far more negative coverage than they’re given anyone else.”
