Threats Against 36 State Governors: Political Rhetoric Gone Crazy!

All of the recent, irresponsible political rhetoric over Health Care reform, and the general confrontational language of talk radio and Fox News Channel, has now led to threats against 36 state governors, and the FBI is very concerned!

These governors, holding the most difficult political positions as the Great Recession continues, have been warned by a group called Guardians of the free Republics, that they must resign and leave office in three days, or face action to be removed!

This group, on its website, is alarming in its rhetoric, and while they do not specifically advocate direct violence, it is the perfect match waiting to be lit that could lead to bloodshed and violence, including possible assassinations!

The people behind this, supposedly, are people who seem to believe that they have no responsibility to pay taxes or have a license to drive. In other words, they are “sovereign citizens”, who are basically anarchistic in nature, and are seen as similar to the right wing group arrested last week in Michigan that was advocating violence against police and other law enforcement authorities.

This is just further proof of the danger of right wing extremists, many of them connected to racist organizations and militia groups, to our national security. These are domestic terrorists, as dangerous as Timothy McVeigh was in 1995 when he blew up the Oklahoma City Federal Building, killing 168 and injuring nearly a thousand other citizens.

We are in a delicate time domestically, and it is the responsibility of all commentators, on radio, television, and other media, to act responsibly in what they say and write, so as not to fuel these nuts among us!

Can we be optimistic that this will indeed be the case, that being responsible as a priority over riling up people and enriching themselves, will be practiced by talk radio and Fox News Channel and other reckless media? πŸ™ Don’t hold your breath on that one! πŸ™

Bret Baier, Fox News Channel, And Rudeness Toward President Obama

President Obama decided yesterday to go into the “lion’s den”, Fox News Channel, to promote his Health Care reform proposal.

Already a critic of the channel, as promoting propaganda rather than news, Obama could not have been surprised at the way he was treated, but still it was an outrage!

Bret Baier, the interviewer, constantly and rudely interrupted him, not letting him finish a sentence.

How would that channel have reacted if a liberal talk show host rudely interrupted President George W. Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney? We all know the answer!

There is a need for civil discourse and respect, and the President of the United States, while certainly able to be challenged, should not be interrupted in a rude manner by anyone, if for no other reason than respect for his office.

Fox News Channel has just continued to show it is a third rate organization, a disgrace to journalism! πŸ™

Bill O’Reilly Cannot Do Simple Math! :) Or Is He Simply Manipulating The Facts And The Truth?

Bill O’Reilly of Fox News Channel made a public speech recently in which he declared that the Obama Administration’s plans to hold civil trials for the September 11 conspirators and terrorists would cost too much money.

The Obama Administration has declared that it would cost about $200 million for a year to conduct the trials, and O’Reilly claims that it would take three to four years, which is highly unlikely.

But let’s say he is correct. If it was $200 million for three to four years, it would cost $600 million to $800 million, certainly not a small sum.

BUT, O’Reilly stated that if it cost $200 million per year for three to four years, it would cost ONE TRILLION DOLLARS!

Does O’Reilly realize that ONE TRILLION DOLLARS is ONE THOUSAND BILLION DOLLARS? Yes, one thousand billion dollars as compared to $600 million to $800 million!

Does O’Reilly have inability to know the difference between millions, billions, and a trillion dollars? Is he that stupid and ignorant, or is it that he thinks he can “pull the wool” over people’s eyes, which may sometimes be the case for those who cannot understand basic math?

In any case, it is more likely that it is the latter, and that Bill O’Reilly is again actively manipulating and distorting the facts and the truth in his quest to gain more notoriety and also, face it, wealth, at the expense of the masses who believe in him and treat him as a reputable human being, which he has proved many times he is not! πŸ™

Roger Ailes, Fox News Channel, And The Republican Showdown With Barack Obama

Roger Ailes, the President of Fox News Channel, was on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, and defended his station as the “fair and balanced” news channel.

After recovering from laughing over this, one must realize that Fox News Channel basically admitted that President Obama did very well in his showdown with House GOP members in Baltimore on Friday.

How do we know this? Because Fox News did not cover the whole session, which one would think they would do, since they are the mouthpiece for the GOP. That tells us what they began to realize, that Obama was overwhelming his GOP opponents, all 140 or more of them!

Anybody in their right mind recognizes that Obama did a fantastic job in this “question and answer session”, and that is why I would suggest he continue to offer the opposition the opportunity to have more public meetings!

At this rate, the Republican party will be in very poor shape, as they have no means to overwhelm the President, as any realistic observer recognizes that the mess the President is in and trying to work his way out of, is not due to Democrats, but to Republicans who controlled the Congress for 12 years and the Presidency for 8 years.

There will be bumps in the road, but one has to believe that despite insecurity and anger displayed at times, it seems clear that a majority of the American people, if they looked in the mirror, KNOW that Obama is working very hard and trying his best to produce miracles, and that there is a limit to what they can expect in short periods of time.

Fox News abandoning the confrontation between Obama and the House GOP is an admission that Obama was winning! πŸ™‚ No question!

Bill O’Reilly’s Sense Of Humor: Sick And Despicable!

Fox News Channel talk show host Bill O’Reilly has a sick sense of humor, and that is being charitable!

O’Reilly has suggested that it might be a good idea to “kidnap” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

He also joked that maybe it would be good to “waterboard” Nancy Pelosi, making light of this horrible torture tactic utiilized by the Bush Administration, and still endorsed by conservative talk show hosts and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

O’Reilly is not being funny in reality; he is being outrageous and obscene, and needs to cease and desist in such rhetoric. But then again, has any conservative talk show host,or spokesperson, including O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, etc EVER apologized or changed their behavior? NO, as their purpose is to divide, promote hate and dissension, and enrich themselves while manipulating their gullible audiences! πŸ™

The Haiti Telethon And Fox News Channel

This evening, a telethon has been promoting Haiti relief–hopeforhaitinow.org.

Every tv network–ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, PBS– is televising this telethon without any commercial breaks, and showing solidarity for the people of Haiti.

That is, all the television networks, EXCEPT Fox News Channel! πŸ™ Of course, one might say that regular Fox channels are showing the telethon, but that is not an excuse! πŸ™

After all, NBC and MSNBC are both showing the telethon, so why could not Fox News Channel televise it along with the local Fox channels?

Is Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity really more important than the Haiti telethon? Should Fox News Channel be the ONLY cable station and news channel to boycott this event? Even HBO and Showtime are showing the telethon!

There is no justifiable reason for this, except that it just proves what anyone who is open minded truly knows already.

Fox News Channel has devoted less time and effort to this disaster, and seems to feel that Haiti is not worth losing commercial profits. The station and its two anchors tonight should be ashamed of themselves, but then again they know no shame with their constant barrage of propaganda, mis truths, and open lying. What a disgrace! πŸ™

Brit Hume’s Promotion Of Christianity For Tiger Woods Totally Inappropriate!

Fox News analyst Brit Hume said something totally inappropriate on the Fox News Channel show, “Fox News Sunday”, hosted by Chris Wallace, this past Sunday.

He suggested that Tiger Woods, the golfer involved in a major sex scandal, should switch his religion from his mother’s Buddhism to Christianity, as he would have the opportunity to confess his sins.

According to Mr. Hume, that would be a wonderful way to make his peace with God for his sins, and would be an inspiration to millions of people across the world.

It is none of Brit Hume’s business to be giving religious advice to any of those watching Fox News Sunday, to Tiger Woods, or to anyone else.

Television news shows are NOT the proper venue to promote one’s personal religious views. Nor is it the place to claim that one’s religion is somehow “superior” to any other.

If anything, it is Judaism, the religion that Jesus Christ never gave up in his lifetime, that should be recommended if one is thinking about atonement for sins, as Jews celebrate Yom Kippur, which is much more solemn than the weekly confession concept found in Christianity. But even that would not be appropriate to recommend on a television show, which is not specifically dedicated to religion.

Brit Hume’s religious beliefs are his personal business, and not proper to advertise or promote on a news show. He needs to apologize for inappropriate, insensitive behavior.

Better still, since he has officially retired, the best thing is to stop being a guest analyst, and go off and pray as much as he wishes in his chosen beliefs and leave us, the American people and Tiger Woods too, ALONE! πŸ™

The Big Lie Revived As Last Ditch Effort By Critics Of Health Care Reform

Earlier today, I wrote about the number one political lie of 2009–the claim by Sarah Palin that the health care legislation under consideration provided for “death panels”.

As the year ends and the health care legislation is about to pass the Senate, the opponents are reviving this ridiculous, completely unfounded lie!

At this late moment, Sarah Palin is reasserting her belief in this total fabrication, and she has been joined in this effort by Michele Bachmann, and Fox News Channel!

Why is it that these women and the so called “news channel” have no decency and dignity, and are willing to perpetuate a lie, and promote fear and division and uncertainty and insecurity among the American people?

In the long run, these sources of division and manipulation will suffer in the public estimation once the health care legislation is in full swing and seen as a positive development for the American people. That day coming cannot be soon enough!

Glenn Beck: Political Activist Or More?

Fox News Channel talk show host Glenn Beck is expanding his activism beyond his talk show and radio show in a way that makes one wonder if he is considering direct involvement in the politics of 2012.

He had his first public gathering north of Orlando, and is set to promote seven conventions of supporters across the country, including voter registration drives, over the next year, designed to influence the midterm elections of 2010.

Is his purpose to sell books and himself, or possibly to promote his own advancement in politics? This is uncertain, but it is also leading to other conservative activists, including Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity to stir activism by their followers as well.

Whether this involvement by talk show hosts will influence the Republican party, or even lead to direct political participation of media people in politics will be one of the fascinating developments of this next political year.

Fox News Channel: More Evidence Of Lies And Racism!

Fox News Channel continues to conduct itself in an outrageous manner.

All of its talk show hosts–Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck–continue to use the “racism” charge against Barack Obama.

Now it is revealed that Rupert Murdoch, the journalism mogul who owns Fox News and many newspapers, believes himself that Obama is a racist and backs up his employees in their assertions.

Not only that, but Sean Hannity has been revealed as a liar–no surprise–in his so called “inadvertent” use of a two month old tape to show a rally in DC of Tea Party people–with a larger crowd then compared to a more recent event–and both events tinged with racism and anti semitism references. This was revealed by Jon Stewart on his Comedy Channel show, and forced Hannity into an admission of a so called “error”!

So the continued evidence of lies and racism on the part of Fox News Channel and its owner and employees and star talk show hosts makes one wonder: Why does any thinking person continue to watch this disgrace of a news channel, which is rightfully, as some have said , to be considered an “opinion” channel, out to distort the truth and reality and to poison the atmosphere of political discourse!
