The Amazing Recovery Of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords!

One of the most pleasant developments of recent times is the publication today of the first photographs of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona since the attempted assassination in Tucson in early January by a crazed gunman, Jared Loughner.

The fact that Giffords has even survived being shot in the head is astounding in itself, and while there is much therapy still needed, it is clear that Giffords is successfully recovering from the grievous wounds she suffered.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, the head of the Democratic National Committee, and a close personal friend, reported today that Giffords is able to speak in full sentences and have real conversations.

Considering what she has been through, her recovery is a miracle, and she looks extremely attractive, much as she did before her unfortunate confrontation with a near death experience!

We can all unite in saluting her recovery as one of those rare bright moments to be celebrated by all Americans, no matter their political persuasion!

House Republicans Begin A Strategic Retreat On Medicare Portion Of Ryan Budget!

The Republican Party may have committed a “Waterloo” on themselves by promoting the Paul Ryan plan to privatize Medicare over ten years, and taking a vote where all but four Republicans in the House of Representatives voted in favor of what has become a major controversy in House districts all over the nation during the Easter recess.

When Paul Ryan himself, Allan West in South Florida, and other GOP Congressmen witnessed massive assaults on them at Town Halls in their districts, it had a tremendous impact on them, putting some of them into panic mode.

So now House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia has indicated that the GOP will not push the change in the Medicare system until after the 2012 elections.

That is a warning sign of what can be expected if the American people are stupid or ignorant enough to elect a Republican House of Representatives and Senate and a Republican President in 2012.

The Republicans are biding their time, and hoping that corporate outlays in campaign spending and effective propaganda commercials can fool the people a second time!

The Democrats, led by Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, have made it clear that they will hammer home what the GOP wanted to do, and what it will certainly do if they gain complete control of the government. And one can be sure that Democratic National Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the South Florida Congresswoman, will be effective in pushing the issue as well!

There is no question of the need to reform Medicare, but not destroy it, as the GOP has wanted to do since it was first born over their opposition in 1965 under President Lyndon B. Johnson!

Fantastic Development: Debbie Wasserman Schultz To Be Chair Of Democratic National Committee!

One of the best pieces of news in a long time is that President Obama has chosen Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of South Florida to be the new Chair of the Democratic National Committee, succeeding former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who is running for the open Senate seat held by Democratic Senator Jim Webb, who is retiring!

Wasserman Schultz has been an exceptional Congresswoman for her district in Broward and Miami Dade County, and has a safe Congressional seat. She has been in Congress for seven years now, and is a real battler for Democratic Party values!

She is feisty and willing to speak up with her strong beliefs against all Republican challengers! She will not tolerate any bull from Republican leaders in the House, Senate, or in the upcoming Presidential race of 2012!

Originally a strong advocate of the candidacy of Hillary Clinton, she has become a total loyalist to President Obama, and she will fight to her last breath for the party and the President. She has what could be called “cajones”, and can give as good as she takes!

No one is going to run over Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who has overcome a major battle with breast cancer while raising her three children in tandem with her husband!

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a woman of courage and determination, and her appointment as DNC Chair guarantees a strong, combative Presidential and Congressional race to put the Democratic Party back in power in the House of Representatives, and retain control of the US Senate and the White House!

Congratulations to Debbie and to President Obama for a sensational, awe inspiring appointment that will do the Democratic Party and the nation a lot of good over the long haul!

Good Move To Abolish Power Of “Super Delegates” In Democratic National Convention

The Democratic Party is moving toward eliminating the power of so called “Super Delegates”, party leaders and movers, who became the center of controversy during the 2008 Democratic Presidential primary season.

The argument is that the office holders should vote in the national convention in lockstep with the party members who have voted in the primaries or caucuses, so that the will of the people is obeyed.

The power of super delegates to affect the result of the nomination battle was a source of friction during the Obama-Hillary Clinton nomination battle, and it is not too soon to bring that unfortunate controversy to an end.

A final decision will be made by the Democratic National Committee’s Rules and Bylaws Committee sometime early in 2010.
