Damagogic right wing talk show hosts, including most notably Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Dennis Prager, and Hugh Hewitt are all distorting the truth about Donald Trump in the impeachment hearings.
This has led to the outrage that conservative talk show host Craig Silverman in Denver, Colorado, was fired in mid show last week, when he leveled some criticism of Trump, someone he had voted for in 2016, but had become disillusioned recently with the vast amount of evidence that Trump bullied Ukraine’s President, and tried to tie aid to that president against Russian intrusion, to an investigating of Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
These despicable talk show hosts, and Fox News Channel’s Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson, along with Hannity, and Fox Business Channel’s Lou Dobbs, have no scruples, ethics, or morals, and are willing to destroy the reputation of good public servants who have done their duty in reporting the impeachable behavior of Donald Trump.
Has the American Left ever Asked Itself [or Anybody else]… [Draft]
On 19nov19, Dr Ronald Feinman, PhD ~ distinguished professor of American history, noted author, frequent mainstream liberal and progressive columnist, and keeper of “The Progressive Professor” blog spot [“An educated view from the left…”] ~ Dr Feinman posted a rant denouncing all those “demagogic…despicable…distorters of truth,” those Right Wing talk show hosts and tv personalities [Limbaugh, Hannity, Prager, Ingraham, Tucker, Dobbs, et al], as having “no scruples, ethics, or morals, and are willing to destroy the reputation of good public servants who have done their duty in reporting the impeachable behavior of Donald Trump.” [https://www.theprogressiveprofessor.com/?p=38029] .
To which i could only respond…
Have Y’All on the American Left ever wondered:
1. Why there are so many highly visible and very successful “demagogic” and “despicable” Right Wing talk and news show “distorters of truth” without “scruples, ethics, or morals” like Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Carlson, et al? [The only adjective missing seems to be “demonic,” eh?]
2. How and Why they got to be so popular, so listened to and watched, so believed, trusted, and channeled, and, most importantly, so commercially successful? And that’s not just on tv and radio, but on the internet and social media, as well.
3. Why the Left [be it corporatist liberal, democratist progressive, neo-proto-socialist, whatever] has nobody who even comes close ~ in any medium ~ to the following, the influence, and ~ again ~ the commercial stroke of these “destroyers of the reputation of good public servants” [sic]? Ie: Why is Rachel Maddow and her ilk the best the Left [and its allies in the Muddled Middle] has been able to come up with in the mass media to counter all these unmentionable despicables?
4. Why the Right’s success in the print, electronic, and digital mass media is nothing new [having started at least with Limbaugh back in the 90s, if not William Buckley back in the 60s], and that, over the course of almost 30 years, the Left has been totally unsuccessful in coming up with anybody or anything able to take on all these Right Wing metronomic megaphones [now more accurately termed “MAGAphones”], and to at least blunt their impact and effect, if not neutralize or even reduce it?
5. Why ~ compared to the Right ~ the American Left is essentially a total loser when it comes to winning the hearts and minds of Americans thru the arts, sciences, and crafts of political and psychological warfare, propaganda, and target audience and mass thought control and manipulation?
Have Y’All ever pondered those questions? You really should.
Trump’s road to the White House started back in 1964 when Barry Goldwater fired a shot across the bow of America’s then-triumphant, reigning FDR/LBJ liberalist paradigm and order. And the Right has been rising ever since from that electoral debacle that launched a whole new concept of how America should be governed, and how that government should be run. And how to sell that new concept to enough Americans to make it happen. And has never looked back.
That is the ultimate, root genesis of Trump, Trumpatismo, and all his Trumpatistas.
And the best that the Left has been able to come up with ~ this year, the only year that matters right now and any more ~ is more of the same stuff that they have failed to sell the American people on for the last 50 years: starting with the Viet Nam War and the “Great Society,” with its own Wars On Poverty, Inequality, and Insecurity. More of the same stuff, but only in bigger [and this time they promise “better”] doses.
And thus when it comes to the critical, existential crises confronting America:
1. the Debt;
2. the Deficits;
3. the Bankruptcies;
4. the collapse of Infrastructure in the face of Climate Change;
5. The Forever War at home and abroad;
6. the “Deep State” that owns, operates, and controls virtually every elected politician, appointed insider, and career bureaucrat in SwampLand;
7. the Echo Chamber Views and News Silos dispensing mis-, dis-, mal-, and non-Information at, from, and to all ends of the spectrum; and, particularly;
8. the resultant divisions that threaten to fracture this nation in ways not seen for 160 years since the eve of the First American Civil War…
When it comes to all that: the Left is as much a part of the Problem as is the Right; the Democrats as much as the Republicans; and the neo-proto-socialists, democratist progressives, and corporatist neo- liberals as much as the neo-proto-fascists, republicanist conservatives, and corporatist neo-conservatives. To say nothing of the Trumpatistas, and their counterparts all over the place on the Left.
At this point, there is no reason to believe that any of those people at any end of the spectrum will be part of the Solution. Nor is there any reason to not believe that they will only continue to make the Problem even worse. Primarily because none of them even knows what the Problem really is. Or at least will admit it publicly.
If the American people had the chance to vote right now between Trump, and any Democrat, and “None Of These Candidates,” what percentage of the vote do You think “NOTC” would receive? The answer might be very embarrassing to everybody playing America’s $1 = 1 Vote game of representative government charades.
But, to Dr Feinman’s credit, one can only appreciate the irony of a staunch progressive all of a sudden defending the right of a conservative talk-jock to say anything, let alone something that he, the Progressive, finally agreed with; and expressing outrage that the talk-jock got fired over it. One can only wonder if The Progressive Professor would be so outraged if Mr Silverman had said, for example, that Climate Change is NOT caused by humans, and got fired for that?
…….
Despicable is the perfect word for them.
