Republican Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina may be a thorn for Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump, Jr., but who would have guessed that?
Burr is a soft spoken member of the Senate since 2005 and served in the House of Representatives for the ten years from 1995 to 2005.
Burr has been Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and has been engaged in investigation of the Trump scandals, and has worked well with Ranking Member Mark Warner, Senator from Virginia.
To decide to call Donald Trump Jr. back for further questioning after having done so in 2017 is causing an uproar from many Republicans who want to drop the issue and move on, and are willing to cover up for Trump.
But Burr is a traditional conservative, and his voting record offers no hope of an open mind on most issues, and yet, he could now cause grief for Donald Trump and his son, hard to explain, but still welcome.
If Republican incumbent U.S. president Donald Trump wins re-election in 2020, the 2022 midterm elections may end up a Democratic majority-control pickup of the U.S. Senate. In that case, the Democrats’ path to winning back the U.S. Senate would require them to unseat Richard Burr in North Carolina.
This is not unthinkable. Trump would actually follow his predecessor, Barack Obama: Win first-term presidential election in a party pickup; come into office with same-party majorities in both houses of Congress (which has been the case since Bill Clinton); lose the U.S. House with Year #02 of presidency; win re-election with Year #04; lose the U.S. Senate with Year #06; and, as he is term-limited with Year #08, see his party fail to hold the White House with his party’s effort to win a third consecutive cycle.
I hope, D, that this situation you have described, does NOT happen!
A lot of the Republicans that are a thorn in Trump’s side are either retiring or have left the Republican party. All the rest, are brainwashed.
