Texas US Senate Race 2026

Victory Of James Talarico An Inspiring Moment For Democrats!

The major victory of Texas State Representative James Talarico over Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett in the US Senate primary is an inspiring moment for Democrats.

Talarico comes across as an exciting, dynamic young man, who has a real shot at winning the Texas Senate race in November, which would make him the first elected Senate Democrat from Texas since Lloyd Bentsen won a fourth term in 1988, and the first in his specific Senate seat since Lyndon B. Johnson became Vice President under John F. Kennedy in 1961.

A likely runoff between Senator John Cornyn and Texas State Attorney General Ken Paxton is in the offing, after each won a bit more than 40 percent of the primary vote, with Donald Trump expected to endorse Cornyn, but Paxton expected to defy Trump and continue to run for the next round in late May.

If that is what occurs,it will certainly help Talarico with his inspiring “true” compassionate Christian message, along with his charisma and youth at age 37 later this year, against the “Old” alternatives, with Cornyn 74 (twice the age of Talarico) and Paxton being 63, and burdened by scandals and controversy, but favored by MAGA Republican loyalists over Cornyn.

One senses that Talarico has momentum, and a real chance to be the next Senator from Texas in 2027, and if he accomplishes that, one can expect he would be heard from down the road in a future Presidential campaign, such as 2036, when he would be 47, with ten years in the US Senate, and not having a Senate race, as he would in 2032!

With 2026 Upon Us In Three Days, Time To Examine Gubernatorial And Senatorial Race Potential For Democrats In Midterm Elections 2026!

With the Midterm Elections ten months away and the year 2026 about to arrive, it is time to examine the potential for Democratic victories in state Gubernatorial elections and in US Senate elections.

So unless there is significant news about Donald Trump, who already monopolizes news coverage to the point of obscenity, this author and blogger plans to focus on competitive elections that will have an effect on state governments and the US Senate, moving forward.

At this point, it would seem as if there are 11 Gubernatorial elections that will be competitive and significant.

Also, at this point, there are an equal number of 11 US Senate races that are to be seen as competitive and significant.

My intention is to examine each one of these races, and welcome comments by readers, over a period of weeks.

Today, I will list the states that have potential impact for both sets of races.

For the Governorship, these states, alphabetically, are:

Alabama
California
Florida
Georgia
Iowa
Kansas
Michigan
New Mexico
Ohio
Oklahoma
Wisconsin

For the US Senate, these states, alphabetically, are:

Iowa
Kentucky
Maine
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Nebraska
New Hampshire
North Carolina
Ohio
Texas

Texas Democratic Senate Race Gets Interesting!

Texas has been heavily “Red” since the early 1990s, and yet, there is a growing feeling that for the first time in all those years, a Democrat might be able to win the Senate seat of Senator John Cornyn, who has two opponents, corrupt state Attorney General Ken Paxton, and African American Congressman Wesley Hunt.

The Democrats had former African American Congressman Colin Allred, the Senate losing candidate to Ted Cruz in 2024, planning to run again, but now, at the last minute, he has decided to run for a House seat instead.

So it now seems that the battle for the Democrats is with two exciting and dynamic candidates, 36 year old state House member James Talarico, and 44 year old African American Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

Crockett is a late comer to the race, and apparently, convinced Allred to leave the race, but Crockett should not think that Talarico will be a slouch, as he is very dynamic, charismatic, and preaches religion in a different way, arguing against extremist Christian propaganda, and seeing Christianity as liberal, as he contends, and the record shows, Jesus Christ preached two thousand years ago.

Talarico is an example of an inspiring young man who is representative of the future, and this blogger and author is very impressed with him.

Crockett is highly controversial in her rhetoric, so it will be an interesting race against Talarico, and the winner will have a better shot if Paxton, who seems to be favored in polls right now, ends up defeating John Cornyn for the nomination.

Texas Politics will be the center of attention, and could decide the balance of power in the US Senate for the 120th Congress (2027-2029)!
