Trump “War” On History, But The Truth Shall Survive Long Term!

The history of slavery is part of the story of American history.

It is not a pleasant story, but it needs to be addressed.

In the era of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s and since, historians and other scholars finally put the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about slavery and racism into the curriculum, long overdue.

But now, racist President Donald Trump has mandated the end of displaying and addressing the issue of slavery at national historic sites and monuments.

The outragous action to remove the display about slavery and George Washington at the Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia is attempting to wipe out a sin that America has had since its beginning, which needs, continually, to be addressed.

This author and blogger in the summer of 2025 visited the Muir Woods National Monument in northern California, and shortly after, all references to the role of native Americans, women, and immigrant groups to the history of environmentalism, were also eliminated.

The cause of teaching and publishing and exposing all of the background, good and bad, of all aspects of American history, now must be doubled down on in resistance, through lawsuits and reversal of the hate filled intent of Donald Trump and his administration. The long range will see the triumph of truth!

Trump Interference With Smithsonian Museums An Attack On Historical Truth!

This author, scholar, and blogger has been communicating to students and adults for more than a half century “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” about the American historical experience, along with discussion of world events and foreign policy.

To have Donald Trump and his followers set out to declare war on the truth and the facts of the American past is a challenge that cannot be allowed to be lost!

For Trump to interfere with exhibits at the various Smithsonian Institution Museums is totally beyond the pale, and must be vehemently opposed with every fiber of the being of scholars and authors!

The truth of Civil Rights Museums cannot be allowed to disappear!

The challenge to teachers and professors is to refuse to teach and spread lies and mistruths.

That is very difficult for teachers and librarians who depend on state and local governments for their livelihoods.

But the reality of the American past must not be compromised, and lawsuits and action by decent people, parents and those who care about proper education, must lead to resistance.

The American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians, the American Political Science Association, and reputable news media and scholars in the nation and around the world must unite to guarantee that “the truth shall set us free!”

Donald Trump Engaged In War Against Federal Government Agencies And Workers, Pleasing Vladimir Putin

It is becoming clearer by the day that Donald Trump is engaged in a full scale war against federal government agencies and workers, with his refusal to end the federal government shutdown, harming hundreds of thousands of workers and innumerable agencies.

He is promoting anarchy and division unlike any time since the Civil War, and this pleases Vladimir Putin manifestly.

He has, since he took the Presidential oath, refused to fill many high government positions, and now has shown his total disrespect for federal workers, including denying them pay raises, as well as furloughing many, and others forced to work, but with no pay.

This will soon cause an economic crisis, and many workers will lose their homes or apartments, their autos, and their health, as well as cause great psychiatric stress. Many businesses that work around federal agencies are losing their business, and will disappear, and many workers will leave and go to the private sector, causing great shortages of personnel in key security, law enforcement, and other areas of the federal government.

And the closure of national historical sites, museums, and other tourist locations will harm those areas economies, and disappoint many who had planned tourist trips to these sites, in particular in Washington, DC, but also all around the country.

With so many people living paycheck to paycheck with little funding in reserve, the lives of ordinary Americans will be harmed, and now for the first time, even those whites with only a high school education are finally starting to turn against Trump, as they are now seeing the destruction and damage he has wrought.

Learning that Trump is now seen as clearly colluding with Russia, and took the translator notes from the summit in Helsinki with Putin away from the translator and any other government officials, who have no idea what happened at that summit in July, makes the constitutional crisis we face very more terrifying.
