The national debt under the past seven Presidents:
Ronald Reagan–added $74 billion to the deficit
George H W Bush—Added $102 billion to the deficit
Bill Clinton–Reduced the deficit by $383 billion, leaving the budget in surplus when he left office
George W. Bush–Added $1.54 Trillion to the deficit
Barack Obama–Reduced the deficit by $825 billion
Donald Trump–Added $2 Trillion to the deficit, and now has added about $4 Trillion in his first nearly two years of his second term, including massive tax cuts to the wealthy
Joe Biden–Reduced the deficit by about $942 billion.
So under Republican Presidents, particularly Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump, all giving massive tax cuts to the wealthy, the deficits have soared.
Under Democratic Presidents, great progress to lower deficits were accomplished.
