CBS And CNN Are On The Road To Destruction!

CBS News and CNN, two landmark news organizations that inform Americans and the entire world of the reality of every day news that affects hundreds of millions of lives, are now in what could be the death knell of their years of dedicated, non biased coverage.

Donald Trump has worked to undermine both organizations, as part of his war on journalism and the truth and reality of his destruction of American democracy and the rule of law.

CBS News has been taken over by Bari Weiss, a totally unqualified executive, who is doing the bidding of her employer, Paramount Skydance, and its multi billionaire owner, Larry Ellison and his son David Ellison, both good friends and associates of Donald Trump.

Weiss has interfered this past week in the show SIXTY MINUTES, preventing the airing of a story on the abuse of Venezuelan immigrants at the El Salvador Terrorism Confinement Center known by the acronym CECOT, including mostly non criminal immigrants deported by the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Kristi Noem. This has caused an uproar over interference that is unacceptable, to cover up truth and facts.

Paramount Skydance is in the process of attempting to gain control of Warner Brothers Discovery, which would mean future control of CNN, creating a massive monopoly that would undermine CNN, alongside the present manipulation going on at CBS News.

So if this horrendous acquisition is permitted by the federal government with the support of Donald Trump, the value of two prestigious news organizations will be destroyed, as they will become propaganda organs, rather than reputable news sources, as they have been for many decades!

In Age Of News Media Decline, Two Reputable Newspapers Remain The Saviors Of American Democracy!

In an age of decline of News Media sources, on the local level, and on the national level, in a competitive market for news sources that are reliable and steady, two long established and reliable “national” newspapers remain the rock of the business of journalism!

I am referring to the New York Times (published since 1851) and the Washington Post (published since 1877), which have been over the long run the most reliable and reputable news sources, despite the harsh attacks and criticisms of authoritarian critics.

The more these two great newspapers are attacked, the stronger they become.

Of course, there are other news sources of shorter history of duration that are wonderful and contribute to the promotion of facts and truth. But without the New York Times and Washington Post for the past century and a half, and particularly in the modern era since the abuses of Richard Nixon in the 1970s until the present, American democracy, under great stress and duress more than ever in the age of Donald Trump since 2015, would be in ever greater crisis than it is!

A Massive Loss Of Quality Journalism In Just Two Days: Brian Williams, Jon Stewart, Bob Simon!

American journalism has suffered a tremendous loss in just two days—the six month suspension of Brian Williams from NBC News; the announcement that Jon Stewart, the brilliant anchor of the Daily Show on Comedy Channel is leaving later this year; and the tragic death of Bob Simon of CBS News and Sixty Minutes in an automobile accident.

In a time when quality journalism is hard to find, and we have so many ignorant, stupid, biased so called “journalists” on Fox News Channel who lie on a regular basis, it is tragic that Brian Williams, a good guy, well liked by many, has been dealt a six month suspension without pay, and yet based on so far only one confirmed blunder.

It is also sad that Jon Stewart, the best comedian in the business, is leaving his path breaking show that was the major way most young people received their news of the day, and Stewart was brilliant in exposing the hypocrisy of politicians on an everyday basis for 16 plus years.

And worst of all is the tragic death of Bob Simon, a true professional, who worked for CBS for nearly 50 years, and was always highly admired for his vast experiences in news gathering. He survived captivity in the Gulf War, the fall of Saigon, and Middle East conflict, to end up dying in an accident on the West Side Highway in New York City.

All three will, of course, be trashed by the right wing, because all three were liberals, who really cared about people and would not be afraid to expose the truth about what was going on in the nation and overseas.

But no attacks by anyone at Fox News Channel in particular, and conservative talk radio as well, will take away from the reality that these are a few of the very small number of quality journalists still working, at a time when propaganda, hate, and deception are the norm much too often!
