The news of the Russian government promoting Bernie Sanders as the alternative to Donald Trump is a delicate issue that requires a lot of thought.
This blogger and author is NOT claiming that Sanders is collaborating with Vladimir Putin, far from that, and any statement that Sanders is a Communist is totally preposterous! It demonstrates total ignorance of Sanders’ record, and of what Communism really is!
But it seems to make clear that Russia wants the person considered easiest to defeat to oppose Donald Trump.
And many intelligent progressives feel that Sanders is precisely that person!
So this is just further reason to prefer Elizabeth Warren or Pete Buttigieg as the best alternative for the Democratic Presidential nomination, unless Joe Biden has a total revival, which seems highly unlikely!
Results from Nevada coming in.
So far, as has been predicted, Sanders is leading.
Gabbard might as well drop out. Hardly nobody is voting for her.
[NOTE: Once again, NYT, WaPo, and the MSM demonstrate that what this nation perhaps needs most of all is a Real Fourth Estate, one that actually functions as a reporter of News, instead of a purveyor of Infotainment and other lies, rumors, and Inside Information from “reliable but un-nameable” sources.
My guess is that Putin doesn’t care who the next President of the United States is. He will continue to focus on his agenda: to continue Russia’s recovery from the collapse of the USSR and Global Communism so that it can resume its place as a world power.
Just as Xi’s agenda is continue China’s recovery from the madness of Mao so it can take its place as a world power [assuming, of course, that the Chinese economy ~ and the PRC with it ~ doesn’t collapse from the collateral damage of the Wuhan Virus].
As far as I can tell, the last time this nation had a functioning media ~ one that actually dug up, fleshed out, and reported News ~ was back in the late 60s and early 70s with Viet Nam and Watergate.]
“Apparent US Intel Meddling in US Election With ‘Report’ Russia is Aiding Sanders,” by Joe Lauria
Without any proof, The New York Times and Washington Post run “Russia helping Sanders†stories, and Sanders responds by bashing Russia, writes Joe Lauria.
With Democratic frontrunner Bernie Sanders spooking the Democratic establishment, The Washington Post Friday reported damaging information from intelligence sources against Sanders by saying that Russia is trying to help his campaign.
If the story is true and if intelligence agencies are truly committed to protecting U.S. citizens, the Sanders campaign would have been quietly informed and shown evidence to back up the claims.
Instead the story wound up on the front page of the Post, “according to people familiar with the matter.†Zero evidence was produced to back up the intelligence agencies’ assertion.
“It is not clear what form that Russian assistance has taken,†the Post reported. That would tell any traditional news editor that there was no story until it is known.
Instead major U.S. media are again playing the role of laundering totally unverified “information†just because it comes from an intelligence source. Reporting such assertions without proof amounts to an abdication of journalistic responsibility. It shows total trust in U.S. intelligence despite decades of deception and skullduggery from these agencies.
Centrist Democratic Party leaders have expressed extreme unease with Sanders leading the Democratic pack. Politico reported Friday that former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s entry into the race is explicitly to stop Sanders from winning on the first ballot at the party convention.
A day after The New York Times reported, also without evidence, that Russia is again trying to help Donald Trump win in November, the Post reports Moscow is trying to help Sanders too, again without substance. Both candidates whom the establishment loathes were smeared on successive days.

Of course, the argument can be made that because we have a “Fifth Estate” [the blogosphere, social media, and iNet-based alt-news Left and Right], we no longer really need a Fourth Estate.
Americans today are less interested in factual News reporting than they are in other people’s Opinions about that News; whether that “News” is factual or not.
They are particularly interested in those opinions that agree with and confirm what they believe to be what that “News” is really all about.
And they prefer to get their “News” from sources and outlets that share their Opinions, their Wordlview, and their Politics.
If Sanders is the nominee, I am amongst the Democrats who worry that Trump will hammer him on his long-buried words in defense of governments in Nicaragua, Cuba and the USSR.

The troll obviously hasn’t been paying attention to the news. The proof is our intelligence agencies and the Sanders campaign has been informed by them. Obviously the Russians are using social media once again to divide Democrats, judging by some of the vicious attacks against anyone not named Sanders on Twitter, Facebook, etc.
That’s one of the reasons I don’t trust getting news from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
Rustbelt – That’s what I’m concerned about as well.
If a website has a tagline that reads “News you won’t find on CNN” (or a well known newspaper, such as the Washington Post or New York Times) then I don’t trust that website.
Totally in agreement, Pragmatic Progressive!
I second that, Pragmatic.
The “proof is our intelligence agencies,” eh? Heh.
And those folks wouldn’t dream of passing around mis-, dis-, or ma–information. Would they? Not OUR intelligence agencies.
All they ever do is tell us the “Truth.”
Like i said: “Americans today are less interested in factual News reporting than they are in other people’s Opinions about that News; whether that “News†is factual or not.
“They are particularly interested in those opinions that agree with and confirm what they believe to be what that “News†is really all about.

Y’All just confirmed that observation. Thankee and have a great day.
So do Y’All trust a website that says “News you won’t find on FOX News? [In addition to CNN.] Or does putting CNN and FOX in the same category cause too much cognitive dissonance? i mean…. how can anybody put CNN and FOX in the same box, right?
I trust CNN. None of us here trust Fox. Fox is Trump’s propaganda network, telling lies to the Trumpanzees.
Speaking of not trusting, I don’t trust what trolls post here.
