The Virginia Gubernatorial And Other Virginia Races Crucial For Democrats’ Future

We are three days away from the Virginia Gubernatorial election, and other state races, both executive and legislative, in the Commonwealth.

Virginia has become “Blue” in recent years, but now there is concern, based on some polls, that Terry McAuliffe who was governor from 2013-2017, and is trying to become governor again, may be trailing in public opinion polls to Republican Glenn Youngkin, a Donald Trump acolyte, who would turn Virginia backward after great progress in recent years!

It is not just the governorship, but also other state executive positions and control of the Virginia legislature at stake!

A victory for Youngkin, who has no government experience, would embolden Donald Trump, while a defeat for Youngkin would help to undermine Donald Trump!

It is urgent that those who voted for Joe Biden, who won Virginia in 2020 by ten points, get out there and vote!

So far, Youngkin is leading. Yuck!

From what MSNBC is saying, Republicans are also leading in the delegate races in Virginia.

If there is a thin gold lining to what has largely been a “blech” night for Democrats in Virginia, it is this: the state Senate, in the middle of its four year cycle, was not up tonight. If, as trends indicate, the Democrats lose the Governor’s race and control over the House of Delegates, they will maintain a check on Glenn Youngkin and unchecked GOP power.

Sounds like New Jersey is flipping red too.

In New Jersey, it’s a tie.

Youngkin kept Trump at arms length and focused on the economy and pocketbook issues.

McAuliffe’s big mistake was alienating parents with his comments about school in the September debate.

It also didn’t help that Biden only has a 42% approval rating and that Dems in DC are in disarray.
