Death Of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Election Of Democratic President And Senate Ever More Urgent!

The shocking news of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which everyone was praying would not happen, makes the election of Joe Biden and a Democratic Senate ever more urgent.

With only 46 days to the election, and with people voting already early in a number of states, the push to replace her should not take place until after the election results are in!

And if Donald Trump loses and the Senate goes Democratic, it would be an outrage if a lame duck President and Republican controlled Senate were to ram through a replacement between November and January.

That is why no one can afford to ignore this election, as it is crucial for the future of the nation, in a way unlike any other in the past century!

Justice Ginsburg will be regarded as being in the top ten all time of Supreme Court Justices, and her loss is hard to replace, as she was a spokesman for the advancement of women and minorities, which desperately need a champion as she was. She was a role model and trail blazer for so many Americans!

This upcoming Senate battle is one for the ages, and the Court will become more than ever a major issue to be decided in six weeks from now!

If Roe v Wade gets sacked, This is the only Option….

Well, not the only option; but the only option that will work.

A ~ if not the ~ primary objection that many ~ if not most ~ people have to the possibility of a possible lame-duck President nominating, and of a very definitely lame-duck Senate approving of, a new Supreme Court Justice before the election [or at least the inauguration] is exactly that: That Roe v Wade will indeed be sacked.

Given what happened during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings and the subsequent impeachment proceedings, the question at this point is: “Who and/or What is going to stop Trump and the Senate from putting an anti-abortion, pro-lifer on the SCOTUS?”

And the realistic answer to that question at this point is probably “Nobody and Nothing.”

So, assuming that Trump gets to make his Supreme Court “great again,” the ultimate question then becomes: “OK. So what and Now what?”

    Here’s what.

Let those States in which the tax-paying voters want abortion to be legal declare that simple statement of fact and intent, and tell the Supreme Court, the White House, the Senate, and the whole Right-to-Life industry, its institutions, and its worldview and mindset to read the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution of The United States of America, and to then buzz off.

And then, like Andrew Jackson said when informed of a SCOTUS decision that he totally and completely disagreed with, add: “[The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court] has made his decision, now let him enforce it.”

Those who demand and defend a Woman’s Right to an abortion should take a page out the 2d Amendmenters’ book and consider what would happen if all of a sudden the SCOTUS ruled that that Amendment no longer applies, and that all firearms and ammunition are to be turned over to Federal, State, and Local authorities; and not necessarily in that order.

Overthrowing Roe v Wade will do no more to cut down on abortions in the United States than Prohibition cut down on the manufacture, distribution, and consumption of alcohol; or than the so-called “War On Drugs” has cut into drug use. Just as with booze and drugs, outlawing abortion will only create a growing and vibrant black market; resurrecting the good old days of back alleys, coat hangers, and the like.

The ultimate root source of this whole problem [and a whole host of other problems] is the idea that decisions about things like abortion, drugs, guns, and just about everything else in civil society and the economy are best made by judges, politicians, and bureaucrats in Washington, DC, as opposed to down and out at the State or Local levels; let alone at the Family or Individual level.

The Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the Constitution are there to remind DC as to just exactly who is the ultimate holder, wielder, and dispenser of the authority to govern exactly what in this nation, and at which level: the States and, ultimately, the People. At least that is what they were intended to designate: Who is supposed to be the ultimate source and decider.

If ever there was a time for the American Left to rally around the concept of “States Rights,” this is it.
