Donald Trump Comparing Impeachment Probe To Lynching Is Totally Disgraceful And Reprehensible!

Donald Trump has the gall to compare the impeachment probe going on in the House of Representatives to a lynching, demonstrating his total lack of the history of lynching, and his lack of concern for the racism that he continues to display incessantly!

Lynching went on for a century after the Civil War and reached its peak in the post World War I years, with thousands of African Americans, and some Hispanics, Jews, and Catholics also being tortured and murdered and set on fire in a brutal fashion, that was long covered up.

But now there is a Lynching Museum in Montgomery, Alabama, called the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and the Legacy Museum, and there are other Civil Rights Museums that demonstrate through horrible photographs and contemporary accounts the obscene abuse and lack of concern for human life in the American South and much of the Midwest and even California, as well, where African Americans were seen as less than human.

The photos are hard to look at, and the realization that children and large crowds often witnessed these miscarriages of justice, cheered it on, and took human flesh as souvenirs of the “sporting event” they had just participated in or lost all sense of morality, ethics and religiosity by not caring about the suffering of thousands of mostly men, but also some women.

Donald Trump comes across more every day as a totally obscene, disgraceful excuse for a human being, who has no concern about the human suffering that goes on around him in America and in the world at large.

If there was ever a President as deserving of impeachment, conviction, and imprisonment for the crimes he has conducted or endorsed by his incendiary, reckless rhetoric, it is Donald Trump, as no one else, not even Richard Nixon was anywhere near as evil as the 45th President of the United States!

And for Senator Lindsey Graham to defend Trump’s comment is beyond belief, and John McCain would be furious at his former friend for defending Trump!

It is inappropriate language at any time, as impeachment is a constitutional method to hold a President accountable. So the Democrats who used that term, including Joe Biden, were wrong, and I thought so at that time, but did not have a blog to state such then!

The impeachment case against Donald Trump is, however, far more substantive than the impeachment case against Bill Clinton was in 1998, or the impeachment case was against Andrew Johnson in 1868!

Ronald: “The impeachment case against Donald Trump is, however, far more substantive than the impeachment case against Bill Clinton was in 1998,”

The case against Clinton was that he had sex in the Oval Office with a White House Intern young enough to be his daughter, and 1st: he got caught at it; and 2d: he lied about it.

No man that stupid is qualified to have his finger on the nuclear button. Wasn’t WAG THE DOG all about all that?

Jeffrey, another difference between Bill Clinton and Donald Trump is that Clinton did not personally say he was being “lynched”, even if others in the Democratic Party said that.

  5. Ronald October 23, 2019 9:09 am

And Trump is certainly more stupid in so many ways than Bill Clinton was, another difference.

Trump does not have a clue on any subject, totally ignorant and clueless, and therefore, more dangerous!

Ronald: “Another difference between Bill Clinton and Donald Trump is that Clinton did not personally say he was being ‘lynched’, even if others in the Democratic Party said that.”

What possible difference does that make? You already pointed out that: “It is inappropriate language at any time, as impeachment is a constitutional method to hold a President accountable.”

That was 5 Democrat Congressmen and one Democrat Senator who had already made very clear that they had no interest whatsoever in holding THEIR President accountable.

But, Biden DID apologize; so i guess that makes up for everything. Is that because “lynching” didn’t quite carry the same baggage back then that it suddenly does today?

One thing about SwampLand, no matter who is in charge at either end of Pennsylvania Avenue: there are two standards for what is and is not acceptable behavior by a President, depending entirely upon who is doing it and which party they belong to.

And that most definitely did not start with Trump.

Ronald: “And Trump is certainly more stupid in so many ways than Bill Clinton was, another difference. Trump does not have a clue on any subject, totally ignorant and clueless, and therefore, more dangerous!”

Trump had clue enough to get elected in 2016, didn’t he? And he certainly has clue enough about what his solid 43% approval-rating base wants from him, doesn’t he?

The one thing that could almost guarantee Trump’s re-election in 2020 is if there is a real War going on someplace with real American casualties, and he can run as a War President. And that seems to be exactly what the Democrats want him to do over yonder in Kurdistan.

    Curious.

‘Poll: Majority of Dems has favorable view of George W. Bush’

    By Mallory Shelbourne (10.27.2017)
    https://thehill.com/homenews/news/357109-poll-dems-have-favorable-view-of-george-w-bush

A slim majority of Democrats in the United States holds a favorable view of former President George W. Bush, according to a new poll.

Fifty-one percent of Democrats in the Economist-YouGov survey say they have a somewhat or very favorable view of the 43rd president, while 42 percent hold a somewhat or very unfavorable view of Bush.

The results come just under one week after Bush delivered a blistering rebuke of President Trump’s policies. …

I’m deeply pessimistic that there will be any kind recovery. Trumpism itself is here to stay. Republicans will remain a party of scorched-earth politics. They will feel even further empowered to sabotage democracy. Their media will still control the minds of 40+% of Americans. We will be lucky if this cold civil war stays cold.

  12. Former Republican October 26, 2019 4:47 pm

Trump represents the apotheosis of today’s GOP. He is wrecking the US government, destroying its international credibility, stealing and lying out in the open, and abusing his office in ways previously unimaginable. All in the service of stoking racial and ethnic divisions, making the rich richer, and imposing radical extremist judges seeking to create a de facto theocracy. This damage will take decades to fix.

The more important headline question should be:
Will we ever rid ourselves of the conservative white nationalism that enabled Trump to rise to power in the first place?
We will get rid of Trump, eventually.
But we will still be stuck with the plethora of jerks who voted for him – and that’s why we may never recover from Trump’s presidency.

  14. Southern Liberal October 26, 2019 4:52 pm

Exactly! Trump and the GOP are founded in racial resentment. Until that fades, we’ll always have them chanting “Old Times There Are Not Forgotten”. And it will take a long time for that to happen.

  15. Rustbelt Democrat October 26, 2019 4:55 pm

Demographic change will slowly erode the power of conservative white nationalism. The Center for American Progress has released a new report:
“The Path to 270 in 2020”

    https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/politics-and-elections/reports/2019/10/24/476315/path-270-2020/

They estimate that the non-college white share of the electorate will decrease by 2.3 percent from 2016. If all groups vote exactly the same way they did in 2016, Trump will lose PA, MI and WI and he’ll lose the popular vote by an additional 1 million votes, compared to 2016. To win reelection, Trump has to exceed his performance in 2016. I think that will be hard to do.

Still, I see some danger ahead. As we transition from a white-majority nation to a minority-majority one, white nationalists may become radicalized and that could lead to political violence.

Also, with our two-party system, there will be another Republican president, sooner or later. If the next Democratic president suffers an ill-timed recession and a foreign policy crisis, we could be looking at President Cotton or President Hawley a lot sooner than we expect.

If Germany could transcend their Nazi past, we can transcend Trump.

  17. Pragmatic Progressive October 26, 2019 5:01 pm

This country is changed forever. Sure we’ll settle down into “normal” politics eventually but the things this psychopath has gotten away with, with ardent support by his cult isn’t going back in the bottle. Presidents will forever challenge what is acceptable behavior. I guess another 9/11 type tragedy will bring some people back to their senses, they’ll remember that it’s supposed to be country first. but the damage that Deadbeat has caused won’t be forgotten any time soon. I personally won’t forget the deplorables transgressions…..and I don’t have it in my heart to forgive.

  18. Former Republican October 26, 2019 5:07 pm

Even if Trump were to go “poof” and disappear today, we’d still have the GOP controlling the Senate, the Federal Judiciary/Supreme Court, and a large chunk of State governments. That is what must change to undo the mess the Republicans have handed us, and it has to happen in 20.
