The Trump Nightmare Continues As Attorney General William Barr Comes To Conclusion On Mueller Report Not Warranted

The Trump Nightmare continues, as Attorney General William Barr comes to a conclusion in just four pages of a statement on the Robert Mueller report, that there is no basis for any charges of Obstruction of Justice, when the Mueller Report stated no such assertion.

It is also stunning, after a two year investigation, that the Mueller report comes to the conclusion that there was no Russian collusion, when there is so much evidence of just that, and so much lying about that issue by Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, as well as others who had odd contacts with the Russians during the campaign, including Donald Trump, Jr, alongside convicted Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn and others.

This looks like a cover up going on, and it is essential that the whole report be revealed, as well as Congressional testimony by both Barr and Sessions, as well as Rod Rosenstein, the Deputy Attorney General.

Trump will use this situation to become ever more reckless in rhetoric, and more dangerous in using of power, than ever before, and the Democrats have an overwhelming challenge to defeat Donald Trump, who short term has now seen his chances of winning reelection greatly enhanced.

Agreed. Barr has a history of being in favor of Trump. I feel he’s spinning things.

He has a rally coming up Thursday night. Should be interesting to see what he tells his base of idiots.

Justice in this country is unfair. Rich people like Trump and OJ Simpson get off while poor people get thrown in jail for years for minor offenses.

  5. Former Republican March 26, 2019 8:26 am

Once again, Jimmy Dore and his ilk don’t understand the situation.

  6. Ronald March 26, 2019 2:36 pm

D, I am NOT convinced that Russia is a nation we can trust, and that Trump is NOT a danger with his policies toward Russia. Russia is NOT Canada, or the United Kingdom or France!

I do not see Adam Schiff, Rachel Maddow of MSNBC, and Jake Tapper of CNN as the enemy, as well as Ari Melber and Chris Hayes of MSNBC and Jeffrey Toobin and Carl Bernstein of CNN, and also Keith Olbermann.

Frankly, I am not impressed with Jimmy Dore, sorry to say, and he is overly nasty and foul mouthed! He is also obnoxious, no wonder he is not on any major news network!

To compare Rachel Maddow to Glenn Beck shows Jimmy Dore is totally nuts!

It is NOT a conspiracy theory to see Donald Trump as a clear and present danger to American government and society!

How can anyone of a sane mind see Trump as acceptable, with his horrific policies in domestic and foreign policy?

  7. Ronald March 26, 2019 9:00 pm

D, whatever occurred in the 2016 campaign, it is still a reality that Donald Trump is a massive threat, and nothing will change my mind on that, even if one can criticize Hillary Clinton and the Democratic establishment!

  8. D March 26, 2019 9:17 pm

Ronald writes, “D, whatever occurred in the 2016 campaign, it is still a reality that Donald Trump is a massive threat, and nothing will change my mind on that, even if one can criticize Hillary Clinton and the Democratic establishment!”

It is the reality that Donald Trump won the 2016 United States presidential election, yes, and he is in office now as the current and 45th president of the United States.

That is actually not the point.

You wrote, “It is NOT a conspiracy theory to see Donald Trump as a clear and present danger to American government and society! | How can anyone of a sane mind see Trump as acceptable, with his horrific policies in domestic and foreign policy?”

The point is that Hillary Clinton and/or the Democratic Party Establishment did not consider Donald Trump, and/or those two other “Pied Piper Candidates,” a “massive threat.”

If Hillary Clinton and/or the Democratic Party Establishment thought Donald Trump and/or those two other Pied Piper Candidates were a massive threat, there would not have encouragement to build them up for potential nomination. Certainly, Hillary Clinton and/or the Democratic Party Establishment would not want to do that.

    Well, there is another consideration.

Perhaps Hillary Clinton and/or the Democratic Party Establishment did consider Donald Trump and/or those two other Pied Piper Candidates massive threats—and built them up for potential nomination anyway. If that is true, what does that say about Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party Establishment?

  9. Ronald March 26, 2019 9:39 pm

D, it is clear that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Establishment underestimated the appeal of Trump to what Hillary called correctly, “the deplorables”.

And I DO think the fact that she was a woman was part of the problem as well, as misogyny is a very powerful force among Americans, particularly those who are uneducated, who fear intelligent and knowledgeable women!

  10. D March 26, 2019 11:16 pm

    Ronald writes,

”D, it is clear that Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Establishment underestimated the appeal of Trump to what Hillary called correctly, ‘the deplorables’.”

“The deplorable” were not the only individuals who voted in the presidential election of 2016.

”And I DO think the fact that she was a woman was part of the problem as well…”

Hillary Clinton is not a victim.

“…as misogyny is a very powerful force among Americans, particularly those who are uneducated, who fear intelligent and knowledgeable women!

From “Washington Monthly,” in response to the link posted by Former Republican, came these perceptive comments from readers who understand both the Mueller Report and Nancy LeTourneau:

    * * *

“This article [by ‘Washington Monthly’s’ Nancy LeTourneau] is just full of painfully obvious smears, the most idiotic thing you [LeTourneau] can do, when you [LeTourneau] also claim that unity is important for the [Democratic Party].

“You [LeTourneau] claim that [‘The Intercept’s’] Glenn Greenwald has been patting himself on the back, taking victory laps, is a buddy of [Fox News Channel’s] Tucker Carlson, and link to a video you claim shows that he is still in denial about Russia? I dislike but value Greenwald’s adversarial journalism, but your link and accusations are wildly unfounded.

“You [LeTourneau] smear [‘Rolling Stone’s’] Matt Taibbi as ‘buying Trump’s line’ about the DNC server? IS this a clumsy attempt to smear by association? Then you smear both Greenwald and Taibbi as pretending that nothing is awry, with what Trump/allies/Russians have been doing. Another unfounded smear.

“Next you [LeTourneau] nonsensically smear both Greenwald and Taibbi, claiming that ‘all of the sudden Greenwald and Taibbi believe that what [U.S. attorney general William Barr] has written about [special counsel Robert Mueller’s] report represents the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth’. Now you are pretending that Matt Taibbi BELIEVES that Trump’s AG is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Another smear unsupported by anything Taibbi has ever said/done.

“It is not Greenwald and Taibbi who are ‘reinforcing their view of the world’. That would be you [Nancy LeTourneau], not them. Why would you even try to claim that the one quote Barr actually passed along FROM [Mueller’s] report (no evidence of conspiracy, collaboration and collusion by Trump with the Russian government) is a fabrication BY Greenwald!? The only sense I get is that you hate Matt Taibbi and Glenn Greenwald and think that reasonable people should agree with your unfounded, incoherent hate, to reinforce your world view, and you are projecting.

“Then you [LeTourneau] offer the false choice (as though it is coming from Taibbi and/or Greenwald) that either Putin tried to swing the 2016 election or anyone noticing Russia tried to do so, should know that Taibbi and Greenwald are claiming they’ve been fabricating suspicions of Russia. This is as obvious a smear as the rest of your attacks on Greenwald and Taibbi, for pointing out uncomfortable truths, none of which you even acknowledge, while you make up smears about them.

Despite your wild accusation, Taibbi and Greenwald do not ‘too often fail to acknowledge the shortcomings of any country that presents itself as an adversary’ (even Greenwald always said it was possible that the Russian government conspired with the Trump campaign and that it should be investigated).

“How do you [LeTourneau] support your claim that they are blinded ‘to the possibility that the current president might be compromised’? Or blinded to kleptocracy (something Matt Taibbi single handedly has done as much as whole news orgainizations to expose)? You really are on a roll of smearing people who are far, far more honest, than you are in this hit piece, full of errors, deliberate misrepresentations, smear by association/false choices, and the kinds of [Karl] Rovian attacks that progressives are far too used to, but are usually less obvious.

“I happen to dislike, but value, Glenn Greenwald’s adversarial journalism, so I’m not surprised you [LeTourneau] are attacking him. I am quite surprised at your dishonest smears of Matt Taibbi (for what you claim is his lacking an appreciation of and for not standing against the importation of what you call Russian style kleptocracy). Matt Taibbi has done invaluable investigative journalism, single handedly more than most news sites, to uncover good old American kleptocracy. So why do you accuse him of the opposite?

“I noticed that you [LeTourneau] smeared David Sirota, another investigative journalist who tells uncomfortable truths, using a hit piece that was based on lies last week. Are you working through a hit list of investigative journalists who occasionally inconvenience powerful liberals by reporting their votes, positions and donors? At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if you tell us next that [U.S. Representative Ilhan] Omar accused American Jews of dual loyalites like [U.S. House Majority] Leader Steny Hoyer did at AIPAC.” —JaaaaaCeeeee

    * * *

“Damn right [‘Rolling Stone’s’ Matt Taibbi and ‘The Intercept’s’ Glenn Greenwald] should take a victory lap…because they were right about this story from the beginning, and almost [everyone] else was wrong. The whole thing was an absurd fabrication that distracted from real issues, just like ‘WMD in Iraq’. It’s hilarious to see how the writer [“Washington Monthly’s” Nancy LeTourneau] of this article still clings desperately to the hope that the whole conspiracy might still be true, because maybe [U.S. attorney general William Barr’s] summary is totally false, and [special counsel Robert Mueller] actually found the opposite of what it claims. Well if that were the case, then why the hell wouldn’t Mueller immediately come out and say so? Why would he sit silently while his findings were completely misrepresented to the media?

“It’s time to face reality: the whole collusion narrative was [b.s.]. The media lied to the entire country and wasted everyone’s time. The sooner the press can admit they got this one massively wrong (and Taibbi and Greenwald got it right), the sooner we can all actually pay attention to real issues.” —Evan M

    * * *

“Setting aside whether [‘Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi] is ‘celebrating too early’…there are no rebuttals in this piece [by ‘Washington Monthly’s’ Nancy LeTourneau] to the many, MANY examples of rushing to judgment that he [Taibbi] talks about in the chapter from his book he posted. It is possible to hate Trump, to hope that the full report yields something meaningful, and to acknowledge that a lot of actors in the media were incredibly irresponsible over the last few years.” —swazzyswess

Thank you, Former Republican, for this!

“Why Taibbi and Greenwald Shouldn’t Feel Vindicated” is more example showing us Nancy LeTourneau—who I do not trust and do not respect—is a professional mouthpiece for the corporate Democratic Party Establishment.

  19. Former Republican March 29, 2019 8:38 am

Ms LeTourneau is not writing smears.

  20. Pragmatic Progressive March 29, 2019 8:43 am

To add to the Professor’s list, Ms LeTourneau nor anyone else at the Washington Monthly, a reliable source of news, is not the enemy.

  21. Princess Leia March 29, 2019 5:42 pm

Adam Schiff blasts Republicans, summing up my thoughts exactly! 🙂

  22. Rational Lefty March 29, 2019 7:11 pm

In addition to reading the Washington Monthly and watching MSNBC, we read ThinkProgress and Huffington Post, both of which are also reliable news sources that are critical of Barr as well and also stand with the Democrats and Democratic voters on wanting the full report to be made public.
