Trump: “Socialism Is Corruption, Exploitation, Decay”. And What Is Unregulated Capitalism And A Trump Presidency?

Donald Trump is being a demagogue when he said recently that the Democratic Party opposition is promoting socialism, which he defines as “corruption, exploitation, and decay”.

The question is what is unregulated capitalism in the Trump Presidency, if it is not “corruption, exploitation, and decay”? Trump has no desire to regulate the worst evils and sins of capitalism.

If Trump is left to his motivations, he wishes to enrich only himself and the top one percent billionaires, and to hell with the quality of life of the rest of the nation.

If Trump were to have free reign, we would have the wiping out of the New Deal of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Great Society of Lyndon B. Johnson, the accomplishments of Barack Obama, and the environmental accomplishments of Presidents since Theodore Roosevelt.

If Trump could do just what he wanted, the alliances with Western Europe and Asia would be destroyed, in favor of allegiance to authoritarian dictators such Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Mohammed bin Salman.

If what FDR, LBJ, Obama, TR and so many others have done to make life better in the nation and in the world is to be considered “socialism”, then ok, we are a “socialist” nation, and need to keep on that track, as that brings out the best of American ingenuity and compassion and basic moral and ethical values.

    Ralph Nader turned 85 on February 27.

    He has the following quotes, which I appreciate, mentioning “socialism.”

    * * * * *

    “Capitalism will always survive, because socialism will always be there to save it.”

    * * * * *

    “Ours is a system of corporate socialism, where companies capitalize their profits and socialize their losses…in effect, they tax you for their accidents, bungling, boondoggles, and mismanagement, just like a government. We should be able to dis-elect them.”

    D, I love those comments, but I do not admire Ralph Nader, because I feel his refusal to accept that Al Gore was a leading environmentalist, and continuing to run against him in 2000, gave us George W. Bush, as Nader gained 97,000 votes in Florida, and helped to decide that race for the White House.

    While Gore had his shortcomings, as all candidates do, he would have been a far better President than George W. Bush!

    Trump’s “speech” at CPAC this weekend, showed, yet again, why he is unfit for the job. It was 2 hours, rambling, full of lies and hatred.

    It also had to be bleeped multiple times, yet so-called “Christians” were ok with cussing.

    One thing to add is this: U.S. President Donald Trump talking against socialism—well, it sounds like he is campaigning against socialism—is also Trump talking fear and campaigning for fear.

    To do this is to not actually address or take on the problems from which this country’s citizens are suffering: with income inequality; with living paycheck to paycheck; with the citizens being economically taken down (in many people’s cases it is with bankruptcy) from medical bills (and suffering while having insurance).

    Since his campaign, Trump talked about the need for a wall. He could have had the done it while the Republicans had majorities in both houses of Congress during the first two years of his presidency. This is when his predecessor, Democrat Barack Obama, timed his getting the Affordable Care Act. All U.S. presidents, post-1980s, won their first-term elections with same-party control of both houses of Congress. So it doesn’t take a genius to tell them when they need to actually achieve their top (or near to it) agenda. So, I don’t think that wall was really Trump’s No. 1 agenda (or necessarily that was it near to it). It is just meat for the party base.

    The scary part about seeing these unhinged “speeches” is knowing that this is the person in charge of the nuclear button.

    One of the things I am looking at with our Democratic candidates is how they plan to overcome the filibuster in the Senate.

    I hear that Sherrod Brown is not running. Probably because of the rumors that Biden may be getting ready to jump in.

    Precisely, Rational Lefty, and also reason why Michael Bloomberg passed on running as well!
