America is in the midst of crisis, as it is clear we have elected a President, Donald Trump, who is incapable of ever telling the truth about anything!
Usually, we say the President of the United States is the “Commander in Chief”, but a more appropriate term for Donald Trump is that he is the “Liar in Chief”, and that is not said in jest.
Trump has lied all of his life, but it is one thing to lie in business, or to lie in personal relationships including wives and cheating, but to lie when one is the leader of the “free world”, and to refuse to ever admit mistakes or shortcomings, is a disaster for the nation and the world.
This man’s constant lying will end up causing America to be in a major foreign war, or cause an economic collapse that will make World War II or the Great Depression seem to be minor in comparison.
How can any nation in NATO or in Asia ever trust Trump, when he lies and deceives so much?
How can our rivals–Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, ISIL (ISIS)–figure out what Trump really means, when he is so unpredictable?
How can any child look up to a leader who goes against the traditional George Washington quote taught to school children, that Washington could never tell a lie, when the reality about Trump is that he can never tell the truth?

From MSNBC politics shows to town hall meetings across the country, the overarching issue for the Democratic Party’s base since Trump’s victory has been Russia, often suffocating attention for other issues. This fixation has persisted even though it has no chance to sink the Trump presidency unless it is proven that high levels of the Trump campaign actively colluded with the Kremlin to manipulate the outcome of the U.S. election — a claim for which absolutely no evidence has thus far been presented.
The principal problem for Democrats is that so many media figures and online charlatans are personally benefiting from feeding the base increasingly unhinged, fact-free conspiracies — just as right-wing media polemicists did after both Bill Clinton and Obama were elected — that there are now millions of partisan soldiers absolutely convinced of a Trump/Russia conspiracy for which, at least as of now, there is no evidence. And they are all waiting for the day, which they regard as inevitable and imminent, when this theory will be proven and Trump will be removed.
Key Democratic officials are clearly worried about the expectations that have been purposely stoked and are now trying to tamp them down. Many of them have tried to signal that the beliefs the base has been led to adopt have no basis in reason or evidence.

The fact that she won the popular vote shows to me that her campaign was not terrible.

Both Donald Trump’s and Hillary Clinton’s national support, their “voters,” and with how they performed in the U.S. Popular Vote, were a minority. Neither hit 50 percent.

Margin in the U.S. Popular Vote: D+2.09 (shift from 2012: R+1.77; because Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney, in 2012, by D+3.86).
The map: All of Romney’s 2012 states carried for Republican presidential pickup winner Donald Trump. 24 states. 206 electoral votes. 2012 Democratic-to-2016 Republican pickups: Florida (29 electoral votes), Ohio (18), Michigan (16), Wisconsin (10), Iowa (6), and Maine’s 2nd Congressional District (1).
Average pickup state: Michigan. The pickups comprised 100 electoral votes. Divide by 6 pickup states is equal to 16 electoral votes. Michigan was the only pickup state with 16 electoral votes. And, in my estimation, Michigan was the most interesting state politically. The Hillary Clinton campaign were asleep with where Michigan was heading in both the primaries and the general election.
There’s more to Trump’s win than a brush-off as suggested by a few here.

Attempting to make a president look like he was not legitimately elected does not help. It did not work against George W. Bush. It did not work against Barack Obama. It will likely not work against Donald Trump.
People who voted for Bush and/or Obama and/or Trump will be inclined to defend. So, this tends to backfire.
The real way to fight a president from the opposition party is…to be a truly opposition party. And that means an agenda and the policies.

I do want to say that, when it comes to any other blogs that I had previously followed, I also appreciated the one from Alan Colmes.
Alan Colmes, of course, was co-host with Sean Hannity on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes” (1996–2009). Alan had his own Fox Radio program that I followed particularly during the Election 2008 season. (I subscribed off and on for years to Sirius, later renamed Sirius XM, and to Colmes’s podcast.) I always had to hand to Alan battling a lot of Republican callers to his program, numerous ones lying about who they were (on their politics), because he stood his ground in arguing for and defending his positions.
Alan Comes died from lymphoma on February 23, 2017 at the age of 66. He was born September 24, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York. He welcomed a lot of interesting guests on his show (my favorites, due to their insights, were Ralph Nader and former pro-wrestler and 38th Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura).
I lost track of Colmes after my interests went elsewhere (c. 2010). And I had no idea he was ill. So, the news surprised me. And I am sorry he is no longer alive.
Yes, D, Alan Colmes was a true gentleman and strong progressive, and I felt bad that he had to deal with Sean Hannity, a truly despicable human being, who only cares about profit, and has no principles, but is enriching himself with the help of Donald Trump.
