The Worst Shortcoming Of Donald Trump: Lack Of Compassion And Empathy!

Businessman Donald Trump has plenty of shortcomings and faults.

Trump is an egomaniac, a narcissist, a demagogue, a nativist, a racist, a misogynist, and a bully.

So one might say: What is worse than those descriptions of Trump?

The worse shortcoming of all is his total lack of compassion and empathy for people who are not like him!

This includes people of different nationalities, ethnicities. races, and religions.

But it also includes people who are poor, uneducated, disabled, and unattractive in appearance.

Trump has no tolerance for anyone who is not a complete success by his standards.

Trump gains his satisfaction only from bragging about himself and his successes, and downgrading others, and he revels in insulting people to their face and embarrassing them!

What could be worse in a human being than the above?

Trump would be a total disaster as President, because he has total intolerance, lack of concern, and has authoritarian, dictatorial, and Fascist inclinations.

Trump would be the worst possible President, unwilling to listen to advice, as he is cocksure of his own abilities and brilliance!

Trump would be worse than Richard Nixon, and a danger to our Constitution and Bill of Rights!

The title alone does a great job in describing today’s Republican Party.

“Sociopathy”—now THAT is the very essence of what we recognize as today’s Republican Party.

For Obama’s fanbois this is a movie. And Barack Obama is the Hero. And the Republicans are the Villains. And policy questions — and Obama’s myriad failures as an executive — are simply incidental. They are MacGuffins only, of no importance whatsoever, except to the extent they provide opportunities for Drama as the Hero fights in favor of them. American politics is now merely a MacGuffin, an important-sounding but ultimately inconsequential and disposable plot device for holding interest in the Hero’s Journey.
Ultimately the only thing that matters is the Hero itself. It doesn’t matter why the Hero Barack Obama wants the Lost Ark of Sensible Gun Control, or the Shankara Stones of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, or the Democratic Holy Grail of Affordable Health Care. These are very minor details and only matter to the extent the Hero exerts himself to achieve them.
The viewers of this film don’t really care about these things, but only Obama’s frustration at being denied them, or his joy in attaining them. Politics is now a MacGuffin in American politics, at least for the frothing fanbois of the Hero Barack Obama.
It doesn’t matter what his goals actually are — it only matters that he succeeds in those quests, whatever they might be.
And this isn’t a new phenomenon, either. Since the beginning of this movie, the fanbois have cared very little for MacGuffins (notice they don’t care how many thousands of Americans have died in Afghanistan), but have been intensely interested in the Hero’s emotional response to it all.
You root for the Hero to win because you like the Hero — not because you’re particularly invested in the Hero’s actual goals. And you despise the Villains simply because they’re standing in the way of the Hero’s triumph.
Chris Matthews sums up, neatly, his only genuine interest in American politics for the past five years:
“We have real people in this country with real power and status who have used that status of power to hurt the country so they could hurt the president.”
Only the Hero matters. The MacGuffin never does.
The Hero is our hopes and dreams. And the Hero has come to us; he has come amongst us.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=27&v=Nl_qIEmezak
Likewise it should be no surprise that lots of people have bought into Trump the Story more than Trump the man. Similarly, Ben Carson, a deeply admirable man, isn’t selling a lot of policy ideas. He’s selling his (amazing) life story and — by extension — a story about America many of us want to believe in. That was the secret of Barack Obama’s success, too. He sold a lot of Americans on his story and to this day he never tires of invoking himself as proof that America’s not all bad.

    D, you are precisely correct.

Ariel, my readers know you are using “flowery’ language to try to impress, but we all know your purpose, and we will choose to ignore you, until you start to act in a respectable way, which clearly is not happening.

You live in a parallel universe of negativism and offer no alternative except criticism.

I have no intention of answering you anymore, as it is a waste of time.

You do realize I am talking about the American political system in general as I mention Trump and Carson too.

  5. Ronald September 12, 2015 9:40 am

Yes. I realize that, but you are turning off many readers with your troll like rhetoric! Change that, and we can all get along! LOL

  6. Princess Leia September 12, 2015 2:46 pm

Ariel – You are wasting your time trolling here.

  7. Pragmatic Progressive September 12, 2015 2:52 pm

Totally wrong! We progressives and liberals ARE invested in the goals of the Democrats we support! The reason we despise the Republicans is because they want to take the country backwards!

  8. Southern Liberal September 12, 2015 3:15 pm

Exactly right! We vote for Democrats because we know that their policies are better for Americans than the GOP’s!

  9. Princess Leia September 12, 2015 3:24 pm

Amen to that Pragmatic Progressive, Rustbelt Democrat, and Southern Liberal!

  10. Rustbelt Democrat September 12, 2015 3:32 pm

I second the opinion that Ariel is wasting his time here.

  11. Pragmatic Progressive September 12, 2015 3:33 pm

    I third that opinion!

  12. Southern Liberal September 12, 2015 3:34 pm

    And I fourth that opinion!

  13. Ariel Leis September 13, 2015 10:18 am

Ronald, I will try to make my comments much shorter. Would that help? Because I really do not understand what you mean by “troll like rhetoric” and I do want to get along in a civilized manner even though we might not agree 100%.

  14. Ariel Leis September 13, 2015 10:22 am

To all. Please do not think I want to change anyone’s opinion. Specially die-hard progressives like many of you here. I just think that by exchanging ideas, different points of view, we all learn something. Now that isn’t so controversial is it?

  15. Ronald September 13, 2015 11:54 am

Ok, Ariel, what you say encourages me that, hopefully, you are sincere in your desire to discuss issues, and certainly, you have a right to disagree with others on here, including myself.

Thanks for your expression of willingness to get along, even when there are different views.

So I would ask others who comment on here to work to be civil, and agree to disagree agreeably.

    Thanks, everyone, and thanks, Ariel!

  16. Princess Leia September 13, 2015 1:23 pm

Trolling = The GOP talking point about Obama being a failure.

We progressives and liberals know that is absolutely not true.

  17. Ronald September 13, 2015 3:04 pm

Well, Princess Leia, that is true! 🙂 LOL
