Criminalization Of Christianity And Kim Davis? Hardly!

A federal court judge appointed by George W. Bush has ordered County Clerk Kim Davis of Rowan County, Kentucky to jail for failing to issue marriage licenses to anyone in her county, due to her “religious” beliefs that do not “allow” her to permit marriage licenses to gays and lesbians.

Kim Davis is a hypocrite, who has been married four times, divorced three times, and had twins with someone not her husband at the time, and then, suddenly, she became “religious”, and therefore, will not fulfill her job duties to which she was elected.

It is not as if she can be summarily fired, as she was elected by the voters last November, but she can be required to do her duties as a public official, or be told to resign, or else, someone else should fulfill her duties on marriage licenses in her stead.

If this is allowed to fester, other county clerks in Kentucky, Alabama, and Texas, and other states can use the excuse to disobey the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage,  or really, we can start having government officials refuse to obey federal law on other matters as well!

The Civil War is long over, and states must obey federal law, whether they like it or not, just as those opposed to Citizens United or the Voting Rights Act  or other conservative decisions have the option of trying for a constitutional amendment if they do not wish to accept the Court decision.

We are a nation of laws and the Constitution, and the Supreme Court, right or wrong, is the final arbiter, as we are not a nation governed by the beliefs of any religious group, and no such group should be allowed to dictate what they will obey when it comes to law.

The concept of criminalization of Christianity is totally baseless, and no one should take it seriously, as there is no persecution of Christians, although there is persecution of Muslims, in some areas Jews, and certainly of Atheists and Agnostics!

We are a nation of many different Christian groups with a variety of doctrines, but we are not a “Christian” nation, a theocracy, and no religion can be allowed to control public policy!

In a Republic a key tenet of the law is that it applies to everyone. And by everyone I mean everyone including those politicians in power. Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, a Democrat, was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals, citing her deep religious beliefs in objection. But since five justices of the Supreme Court have decided that homosexual marriage will be the law of the land, Davis has been jailed for her refusal to obey.
But in America today that seems not to be the case in every instance. Governor Jerry Brown refused to defend Prop 8 in California thereby refusing to follow his oath to uphold the laws of California, but he’s not in jail. There are many mayors of sanctuary cities that openly declare their refusal to follow immigration laws yet none of them are in jail. The DNC has knowingly hired an illegal alien, thereby breaking the law, yet no charges have yet been filed.
And thousands of employers hire illegal aliens, yet hardly any if any ever has any charges filed against them. Finally President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder both swore to uphold the laws of this great nation but both refused to follow the DOMA law before it was declared unconstitutional yet neither are in jail. I repeat, and we all agree, I hope, that a key tenet of the law is that it applies to everyone.
In spite of that, Kim Davis is in jail even though the people of Kentucky voted to prohibit gay marriage while Jerry Brown isn’t. Why?
Why does a ruling by 5 rich lawyers on the Supreme Court that everyone knows has no basis in the Constitution mean that Americans has to bow down and obey when our leaders rulers, including our president, can pick and choose what laws they follow?
In a monarchy the elites, unconstrained by the law, issue mandates that the peasants have to obey.
In a republic, power flows from the people and the actions of politicians are constrained by the original intent of the Constitution.
At least that is how we used to understand our system. Now it seems that those in power, the politicians are not constrained at all.
If Trump, Carson, and Fiorina pick up a number of supporters because Kim Davis has gone to jail it will not be because of their stand on gay marriage but because people are reacting to our countries transition from a republic to a “monarchy” of the ruling elites in Washington. It will be because many will come to believe that we are no longer a Republic under the rule of law. The outsider phenomena, at least on the right, in the 2016 presidential race is due to Americans desire to not live in a monarchy and be ruled by politicians. That’s why the fact that Trump is not a true conservative or that Carson and Fiorina don’t have political experience doesn’t matter to these voters. Finally one last thought. I wonder if the media would be more sympathetic to Ms. Davis if she were a Muslim instead of a Christian? And I base this on a simple observation. When a Christian couple refused to bake a special cake for a gay wedding, not only were they prosecuted by the state government and taken to virtual bankruptcy but they were viciously attacked by the media and “important” political and cultural “personalities” of our ruling elite. Yet when a few weeks later a group of independent entrepreneurial journalist went to the Muslim district in Detroit to specifically request a cake for a gay wedding, every single baker, who were Muslim , refused on religious grounds? What was the reaction of the media and these important personalities of our ruling elite? Absolute silence.

I second your suspicion. It sounds like the kind of rambling nonsense that Juan/Max would come up with.
