Two Anniversaries: Queen Elizabeth II And Ronald Reagan!

Today marks the 62nd Anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne of Great Britain!

While the Queen has very little real power, she has had a great impact, and she has a good opportunity to surpass her great great grandmothe, Queen Victoria, as longest reigning British Monarch and, also, longest reigning female monarch if she can survive another 381 days to September 10, 2014, and at age 87 and in good health, that seems very likely!

It is also the 103rd birthday of the late President Ronald Reagan, who is loved by conservatives and Republicans, recognized as significant by all historians and political scientists, but grossly overrated by the right wing in America, which refuses to see how complex, and often, contradictory Reagan really was!

The right wing loves to point out that Reagan ended the Cold War, as if he did it all on his own.

They fail to accept that he was damaging on the environment; on civil rights; on human rights; on the tripling of the national debt; on the growing homelessness and poverty; on the beginning of the destruction of the middle class (which has continued for 30 years now); on the crisis of AIDS (which he refused to address for a long time and which was the center of humor at cabinet meetings in his first term); on his willingness to support apartheid in South Africa (leading to one of his rare defeats, when Congress overrode his veto of apartheid sanctions); of the numerous scandals of his Presidency (making him the fourth most scandalous President after Richard Nixon, Warren G. Harding, and Ulysses S. Grant, with the major one being the Iran-Contra Scandal); his willingness to lie consistently (as for example, his Welfare Queen myth, still used today by conservatives and Republicans); and numerous other faults and shortcomings.

We can honor both Queen Elizabeth II and Ronald Reagan today, but realize one did no harm, and the other did GREAT harm in so many ways, which will become more obvious, as the years go by, and further research is done!

I was only four years old when Reagan was first elected, so I don’t remember anything about his presidency. But didn’t he get the ball rolling with lowering corporate taxes and letting the banks get their hands on the legislation process? If so, that should be added to your list.

Wow, I wish I was YOUR age! LOL YES, you are correct, and much more about the damage Reagan brought us could have been listed, and I will do so in the future, but also, if you click on his name on the right, you can see what else I have stated about Reagan in the past five and a half years!

The most corrupt administration in American history got a small amount of daylight shown on it today.
Testifying before a House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs hearing to discuss the IRS’s targeting of conservatives, Catherine Engelbrecht, the founder of True the Vote was shown to have been harassed by fifteen visits from four federal agencies in a span of two years after her group applied for tax-exempt status with the IRS in 2010.
Conservative groups were harassed overwhelmingly by this corrupt administration. obama deserves no less than a prison jump suit for his thuggish unlawful presidency.

You are a true lunatic, Dave. I suppose the corruption of Iran-Contra should have led to Reagan in a prison jump suit, and the same for Nixon and Watergate, and the unnecessary Iraq War should have led to Bush II in such garb, heh? You are just showing how racist and delusional you really are, and I notice you never answer what Engineer or D or Maggie or the ladies or JOB says, and it is clear that you have no retort, because you believe in lies and deception! What a disgrace!

Dave, I have looked into the IRS allegations numerous times. And I just don’t see anything illegal.. Engelbrecht’s organization was surely scrutinized for wanting tax exempt status, as well they should be. Along with any other political organization collecting millions of dollars. In order for any group to gain exempt status they have to show that their organization is driven towards social welfare and not a political activities.

Nixon could qualify as a model citizen compared to obamas corruption, Nixon a mere piker compared to this bully thug. obama should be in jail for his 2012 election tampering alone. The MSM refuses to do its job, they choose to go on endlessly about whether a two bit thug from NJ slowed down traffic, pathetic. Obama will go down in history as the worst president in history, that is if we can find an honest historian.

It is amazing how you whitewash Nixon, and make the fact that there were cases of patients unable to be taken to the hospital by paramedics in New Jersey for hours on end over four days to be no big deal in regards to a real thug, Christie! It demonstrates, Dave, your total lack of ethics and morals, and your continued racism!
