Mitt Romney “Aint” No George W. Bush! So Says Barack Obama, And He Is Right!

The most interesting discussion last night at the second Presidential debate was about Mitt Romney being compared to George W. Bush, the last Republican President.

Romney tried to show how he was different from Bush, and was pretty lame at that exercise.

But Barack Obama took advantage of the situation to say that Bush was not for making Medicare a voucher system; was for a plan for illegal immigrants to become citizens; did not suggest that the government get involved in contraception decisions of women; and was for a more “compassionat” conservatism than Romney!

Imagine–George W. Bush brought to a level where he stands out on some issues as BETTER than Mitt Romney!

There is no case for Romney as President, because he is a totally callous individual, and not likeable, which George W. Bush actually was, by comparison!

I kind of feel sorry for the Republican party because the only people who wield any respect in general within their party are either dead or don’t want anything to do with their new attitudes. It’s pretty sad when you have to distance yourself from a former President just to keep that allusion your own policies are not just that past Presidents with a shiny new bow tie. They don’t have someone like President Clinton they can pull out of their pocket when they need a little extra help and support.

When it comes to George W Bush I really can’t say I was at the age that I cared about politics or could really understand them. Really the 2008 election was the first time I remember actually watching the debates and following the poll’s etc. Before that I was always just taught he is the president so he deserves respect. I mean if I back then a child could accept the fact that anyone who makes it to the white house deserves your respect why the hell can’t grown adults accept that fact today and act like adults instead of children. But I don’t recall Bush ever acting as ridiculously as Romney has in this race and Bush did some pretty shall we say foolish things.

Well, look at the question: he was specifically ASKED to differentiate himself from Bush. Interestingly, President Obama was not asked how he was different the Jimmy Carter; all he was asked to do was produce a litany of his accomplishments.

And Professor, as an educated person, you should know that the over-use of exclamation points reduces the effectiveness of them all. An educated person shows their emphasis through subtlety of style and construction, not by tacking an exclamation point to the end of nearly every sentence.

Yancey, I will accept your criticism in your second paragraph as legitimate, and thank you for it.
