Missouri Republican Senator Roy Blunt has become infamous for promoting an amendment to the health care law, which would allow employers to decide what kinds of health care their employees should be denied, based on their own completely arbitrary definition of what is “immoral”! The Blunt Amendment was defeated in the Senate, but has now been revived in the House Appropriations Committee. It is, without question, part of a “War On Women”, as well as a war on health care for all employees, both female and male!
The war on Planned Parenthood, which utilizes only three percent of its funding for abortion services, continues, as the desire to redefine rape, and to fight to prevent contraception, continues, The fact is that contraception helps to avoid pregnancies for women who do not want more children, and will be impoverished by such pregnancies, and could prevent abortions altogether if contraception was not being utilized as a political “football” by the Republicans, including the Republican women in Congress, who as stated in earlier entries on this blog, seem to be an alien force from outer space!
It is beyond normal behavior to understand why the Republican Party has chosen to continue the “War On Women”, when it can only further alienate the female population, already a majority Democratic. And the fact that the men, and even the women in the party apparatus, both in Congress and the state legislatures, are willing to attack the rights of their mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters is beyond comprehension!

I remember well coming into my parent’s home late that Sunday night from being with friends and at 10:56 PM back on July 20, 1969, our global world changed. U.S. Astronauts had just landed and were walking on the moon.
At that moment, we as a nation pronounced to the whole world that so much hope, perspective knowledge, and “the sky’s no longer the limit†of what we can achieve as a nation when we put our collective minds to it.
Science, Technology, Race Relations, Basic Rights for all that included Women, was the bright hope for the future……only to have it all being tried to be destroyed, crushed, and now have repressive legislation presented in Local, State, and Federal Government levels.
Women’s health is being attacked simply because there are those who would mandate the medical treatments for women because they can find some religious aspect to do so.
Anti-Science Religious Fanatics trying to force their beliefs that the earth is no older than 6,000 to 10,000 years old, that man walked with dinosaurs, there is no evolution just God’s creationism, man made global warming is just a liberal hoax, etc. The willful ignorance of others trying to mandate their views onto the rest of us.
The “Small Minded Steps of these Religious Fanatical Men and Women,†who are trying to force “A Giant Leap Backwards for Mankind.†Because God told them so?!?!
The scary fact is much of these aspects will be decided in this next election and even at this point in time can go in ether direction.

Thank you Professor for keeping us up on the moves the rethuglican party continues in an attempt to force THEIR ideology and religious views on others. All weekend I have been contacting every women I know, via email, tweeting, you name it to get out this latest of the right wing determination to take away women’s right. If the republican take back the WH and both house, along with state legislatures….you can be sure they will take away as many hard fought rights of woman, the poor, minorities and immigrants as they possibly can. WE must not allow that to happen. This November is I believe the most important election in our lifetime. If they are allowed to take control, I honestly believe they will destroy the country for 98% of us…..
